A Ring Amidst Devastation

An eerie silence eclipsed Leumalin as the chaos had subsided, they had fled just as quick as they came, the stench of death, still fresh in the air on the streets polluted the once peaceful city as the fresh winds try to blow the deathly air from the scene, and fail.

The dried blood of the fallen is left behind as a grim reminder of the events that had happened to all that would pass by the grisly scene, made even more disturbing and eerie with the lack of any corpses. Slightly off of the beaten track but visible, a particular trail of blood leads to the base of a tree.

At the base of the tree, the grass appears to have been pulled out slightly as if something was dragged along it and a glinting gold object stands out near a patch of dry blood. Obviously a ring, as someone approaches closer, it would have writing engraved around the edges, indicating its owner and who to notify.

"Drake Lancefeld" on one side

"Emerilla Lancefeld" on the other.

Samuel's vision was blurred as he slumped to the ground, having been thrown against the tree trunk with a heavy thud. Beside him lay the unconscious body of the man he had been fighting to defend from the massive Rog-vatok that had been one of the raiders of the Elven city. As Samuel rubbed his eyes, groaning with exertion and pain, the immense creature stomped towards the felled duo, scooping up Drake and dragging him off. Reacting quickly, his hand shot out, grasping Drake's chain armor tightly. The beast snorted, pulling Drake, and with him, Samuel. However, Samuel's dazed grip was not enough, and he released it, falling to the ground as the Rog-vatok barrelled through the gates.

He cursed as he scrambled hastily to his feet, seeing that his attempts to rescue the man were in vain. He took a few steps outside of Malinor, the roaring of ungodly creatures in the distance growing faint. Seeing something glinting on the roadside, Samuel strode over to it, finding the ring. He reads it for a moment, and thoughts of the man and what life he could have led cause a sudden rush of emotions. Samuel closes his eyes, dropping the ring back to the ground and closing his eyes. Drake Lancefield, this unfortunate soul, was now something to motivate the hardened Knight to fight against the creatures that were plaguing Anthos ... " He will be remembered. "

Emerilla waits at home, the bread she had been cooking only slightly burnt. Looking out the window, she wonders if Drake would be returning home soon. Looking down at her leg, she frowns, upset she had let herself become lost for so long, yet thankful that she had been found and taken to the monks. Emerilla looked back out the window once more, still waiting, confident that he would be back soon.

"Drake will be back soon..." She says softly to no one, a faint smile on her face. "He always is."
