A Silent Death

Dusk was approaching on the land of Anthos, cascading light over the treetops and shining through the windows on houses. Silent walked out of the bustling city of Abresi, and took a stroll into the pine trees in-front of the city walls. Eventually, he got to a great tall pine, towering above in the evening breeze, and he sat at the base of the trunk, relaxing.

Only an hour had passed until he was awoken by a noise, a cracking noise, that came from no great distance. He sat up with haste, but quietly, so he could listen for anything more. Then he heard it, the sound of a tree falling, the wood twisting and ripping, then the branches snapping as it hits the ground, the leaves rustling as it does. Silent stood up, and drew his sword, then walked around the tree, looking for where the noise had come from. He saw it, lying on the ground, bark ripped of and trunk snapped like a twig. He moved swiftly, but cautiously towards it.

Upon looking closer, it seemed as if something tore-into and rammed the trunk. Then, he heard something, quiet at first, but it grew to a roaring stampede of deer. They bounded past him and knocked him into the fallen branches of the tree. It only lasted a few seconds before all the deer had passed him, and he got back up, looking at the path the deer had made in a mad scramble to get away. Readying his stance, Silent moves forward in the direction the deer had come from, heightening his senses as best he can.

He walks through the dusk for almost a minute, moving past the shadowy brush and low branches, moving with absolute silence. Nearing the stream, he sees a shadow. The foliage of the woods hinders his view, limiting it to an unclear figure, moving up the bank of the stream. He quickens his pace, retaining his stealth as he does so, until he reaches the sandy bank. The night sky, patched with clouds reveals the moon, shining down onto Silent and the sand beneath his feet. It is then that he sees a trail of blood going upstream on the sand, as if something had been dragged.

With the steady flow of the water, and the creatures of the night, whatever is ahead is shrouded by sound from Silent's hearing. He follows the path of blood upstream until it stops, and the moonlight is blocked behind a cloud once more, but not for long. It soon shines once more, revealing the blood trail on the other side of the stream. Quickly and quietly, he walks through the shallow water and reaches the other side and begins following the blood trail once more.

He enters the thick overgrowth of a small woods again, the moonlight shining through gaps in the foliage above. Suddenly, Silent hears a scream, belonging to a woman. Everything else in the forest goes quiet, and he begins to run into the darkened woods. He reaches a small clearing, and there, he sees the source of the scream. Upon the trunks of two trees hang the bloodied corpse of a woman and a deer. The woman's eyes hold no life, but the look of terror is deep in them, instilled there by something of true horror.

The woods are deathly quite, the blood of the two corpses drips onto the ground, pools of blood reflecting the moonlight into Silent's eyes.

"Who... what could have done this...?"

Suddenly, a rustling comes from behind the wall of trees and bushes surrounding the clearing. Silent readies his sword once more, the noise constantly moving around him. He turns, trying to find the direction it is coming from, until, nothing. Not a sound can be heard in the woods. And then he feels it. The warm moist air of a beast breathing down his neck. Silent turns slowly around, seeing the dark figure of the beast, towering above him at roughly ten feet tall. As he looks up, he sees the dark red eyes, piercing down into him, with two massive horns above, at least two feet in length. It makes the first move.

Swiping its horns sideways, the beast aims at Silent's neck, but he moves his sword to block it. The sheer force however bashes him back a few feet, and enrages the creature. It lowers its head, stomps its hoof over and over, tearing up the dirt, and then charges. Silent side-steps at the last moment, but the creature's horn tears across Silent's chest piece. He jumps back, and quickly takes off the mangled chest piece, tossing it to the ground. The beast becomes further enraged, lowering its whole body to the ground, and again, stomping its hoof. It charges forward with great speed and momentum, but with his lighter weight, Silent jumps up over the beast. However his chain mail leggings get caught on it's horn, and he falls forward onto the beast's back.

In an enraged state, the beast thrashes wildly, trying to get Silent off. At last, his chain mail gives, tearing off and sending Silent up into a tree. The beast thrashes it's head, shaking off the chain mail, and then looking around, trying to find its prey. It is at this moment under the moonlight, that Silent sees the full body and face of this beast. Its thick fur and bull-like face, its hooves and tail, and its man-like torso.

"A Minotaur..."

Silent stands up on the branch of the pine tree, holding onto the center for balance. The Minotaur sees him, and charges at the tree, ramming into it. The trunk of the tree begins to break, and it starts to fall back. Silent jumps out of the tree and lands on his stomach behind the Minotaur. He drops his sword, it landing a few feet to his side. Silent looks back over his shoulder, his eyes lock with the Minotaur's, and he moves to grab his sword. The Minotaur begins walking over to Silent, and raises its hoof, aiming to stomp on Silent's knee. Thankfully just as he grabs his sword, Silent rolls to the side, narrowly avoiding having his leg broken. He then swings his sword towards its leg, but in its rage, the Minotaur goes to kick Silent. His sword and its hoof meet, knocking it off balance, but at the same time sending Silent's sword flying out of his hand and into a tree trunk.

With haste, Silent gets up and runs behind a nearby tree, the Minotaur not seeing him. Silent places his hand on the hilt of the two-handed sword on his back. He slowly draws it out, the Minotaur charging around trying to find him, and It doesn't take long before it does. Silent, standing with a tree to his left, holding his sword with both hands, looks into the dark red eyes of the Minotaur. It quickly aims its body at Silent, lowering its razor sharp horns to the ground, and it begins to stomp its hoof. Silent raises his sword above his head, ready for the beast to charge.

Dirt flies back as the Minotaur charges forward at full speed. Just as it gets within range, Silent swings his sword with all his might down towards the Minotaur's head. Its horn reaches Silent at the same time his sword reaches its head. The Minotaur's left horn goes clean through Silent's abdomen, while its right horn cuts into the tree. Silent's sword, even with all his force doesn't cut through it's head. It's thick skull stops the blade before it can reach its brain, but it still cuts deep.

Enraged in pain, the Minotaur thrashes its head around, ripping through the tree, and sending Silent flying off, landing on his back several yards away. As he lands on the cold ground, Silent coughs out blood, the pain excruciating. Then, the tree the Minotaur got its other horn stuck in falls over, its trunk ripped apart from the thrashing. Silent looks down towards his feet where the Minotaur's face is. It goes to charge once more. Silent, sword still in hand, raises it up, holding it steady with both hands. The Minotaur roars with its mouth open as it charges to finish its prey.

Silent's sword reaches first, going in the open mouth of the beast, and clean through the back of its head. However the Minotaur's momentum brings its horn down through Silent's chest. Its eyes go dark, and its body limp, pinning Silent under its huge weight. Lying in the clearing, death's embrace waiting to take him, Silent looks up at the night sky.

"I..I'll be with you soon... my ancestors..."

With those last words, Silent's body goes limp, and the life fades from his eyes, never to return...

The darkness that closed over Silent as he left his body was washed away by a bright light. He squinted into the light, and his eyes began to focus. He could see his mother and father, looking just as he remembers them. He goes and hugs them both, then they walk him forward, into the grand halls of Aeriel, to see the faces of all his ancestors, who had been watching him for his whole life... as well as the face of his wife Hindy, who he had lost many years ago, but never knew what happened to her, and the  face of his son, Xerin, who he too, had lost many years ago.

((Well, this is the death of Sylen Thadius Drayzont, A.K.A., Silent Drayzont. I would like to thank Brandnewkitten for doing this awesome RP with me, and I would also like to thank all the great players I got to RP with as this character over the last 22 months. Hope you guys enjoyed RPing with me as well, and hope you enjoy this post about his death. DO NOT go meta-gaming this info. Until his body is found and buried properly, none of you should know that he's dead. OKAY? Okay.))

*Throught some woods The Blue Mustache walked to head back to a main road. On the corner of his eyes he saw a man on the floor. Laughing to himself he went to check on the corpse and found the head of the minotar lodged into the chest of the man. A head such as that he had never seen before, and in his mind only one thing he thought... "I can sell it for minas". He gripped the Minotar's head and pushing down on the corpse with his foot, started pulling the head out. It took him a while, but in the end, the head was removed. The tales he will be able to tell with that head, and the minas he might get for selling the head. He dragged the head through the ground as he continued his journey to find a main road. The body was left behind, to be forgotten, and to be eaten by other creatures.*

((I see you didn't RP chopping the head off the Minotaur? How strong are you if you can just rip it's head off, as well as its already decayed quite a bit, and it reeks more than anything. Just a heads up as to you trying to RP telling people you slayed it when its falling apart and rotten with maggots.))
