House History

 

Following his return after 20 years of exile, August Flay - Lord of House Flay -

reformed his renowned household with the blessing of the Emperor Godfrey

in the Holy Oren Empire. Unfortunately for him, much had changed in the

decades of his disappearance, and the paramountcy he once enjoyed in

Oren politics was a thing of the past. New powers ruled in Oren.

Unwilling to face the fact that his power had long since waned, August

Flay allied himself with the Teutonic Order and challenged the Order of

the White Rose; a grievous error on his part. Having not given himself

enough time to gather his strength, House Flay was dealt a decisive

defeat by the numerically superior Roses and their allies, and to all

those in Oren and outside - appeared to have been shattered completely.

 

Indeed it seemed this way in the aftermath. In his rage and denial, August

Flay removed dozens of men from his service, murdered loyal

subordinates, and began plotting his return to power. He hired

sellswords, he gathered vassal houses. Most importantly, he sent a

request to the Emperor. A change of his name, from the infamous Flay to

the newly coined Blackmont. In this, August hoped to start anew,

establish a new identity for himself and his men in the Empire. Having

gathered what men he deemed loyal and fit, the first Lord Blackmont

began plotting and planning, intent on retaking what he once held.

 

In an effort to consolidate his position, Lord Augustus I hammered out

alliances and took on new vassals, becoming liege to the Houses Carrion,

Woods, Letholdus, and Greymane. Upon his arrival to the land of Anthos

with his personal army, Lord Blackmont moved quickly to establish a new

base of operations and wasted no time in resuming his activities of

intimidation and terror.

 

Peace never did last long when Lord Augustus Blackmont was involved. In a bid

for more power and additional land, he declared formal war upon the

Teutonic Order, relying on his terror tactics and superior numbers -

albeit inferior organization. Additionally, a son was born to him by his

wife, Lorin Chivay, the son that Augustus had prayed for for so many

decades. With this new heir, Tiberius, born, Augustus groomed him from

the beginning - so that he could properly assume control of House

Blackmont upon his own death.

 

With tensions only increasing along with open conflict in north,  battle

lines were drawn as different noble houses decided who they were to

fight alongside. At full strength and readily mobilized for war, House

Blackmont geared itself to fight any that they deemed necessary in order

to advance in status and power. With the help of House Blackmont's

allies, a siege upon the Dreadfort was broken and the Teutonic Order

forced into retreat. In his final days, Augustus lived to see the day

that the Order was officially disbanded, before finally dying in his

bed, alongside his most trusted followers. Shortly thereafter, his

eldest son, Tiberius, was named his successor. Though he held much

resentment towards his father for his harsh and peculiar upbringing, he

quickly took the reigns in House Blackmont as Lord Tiberius Blackmont II.

 

In an event known by many as the 'Crimson Banquet,' Tiberius arranged a

feast to celebrate his own rule over House Blackmont. Here, as a toast

was declared in his honour, he was poisoned and died instantly. In the

subsequent confusion, accusations were thrown between the Bannerman and a

brawl quickly ensued. In the chaos, the Dreadfort was set alight and

the surviving Bannerman forced to seek a new home from the Emperor.

Under the new Lordship of Augustus's youngest son, Lucius, they rebuilt

the Dreadfort close to Oren's capital, where they intended to restore

the House to its former glory.

Lucius Blackmont and his men drop to their knees as they reach the throne,
they guards lower their head in respect as Lucius speak out "Your
Imperial Majesty". Horen looks over to Lucius nodding at him as he
speaks "Aye, Lord Justiciar?". Lucius and his men rise from kneeling as
he clears his throat and begins to speak "I have a request for you, I
wish to retain our old name. The name that broke fear into so many
hearts, the name we are still called today. I wish for myself and my
family to be called House Flay." He darts his eyes to Horen then to the
men around the throne with him, a small bead of sweat falling from his
forehead as he waits nervously. Horen shifts in his throne before he
speaks out "Very well then Lord Justiciar, you have my blessing." Lucius
smiles and places his hands behind his back, gripping his two hands
together. "That is all Your Imperial Majesty" He gives a slight bow of
his head as he spins on his heels and marches out of the Palace, two Man
of Arms quickly following after him by his side.

Becoming a Flay

 

House Flay follows a strict procedure in recruiting new members to the
Flay family and therefore, spots will only be opened when absolutely necessary.

However, you may leave an application here for when we are looking for

players to act as new members. Applications may be sent either via this

thread or through a forum PM. If accepted at anytime, you will be contacted over the forum.

 

It is further required that this character complies with the natural
traits of a Flay. In terms of appearance, Flays will usually have brown

hair and green eyes, with male members often being known to
wear a red bandanna  in order to shroud their faces. We are relatively
flexible as to the personality of a Flay, though most are expected to

be witty, charming and yet somewhat sly and deceiving.

 

Requirements:

- You must be willing to play this character from when they are a child to an adult.

- It is required that this be your main character.

- Names must follow the Latin naming pattern, e.g. Males - Caelius, Septimus and Females - Valeria, Marcia.

Appearance: Shaggy dark brown hair and green eyes, he appears similar to Lucius, and the legendary Augustus Blackmont. His build is rather skinny, and he only has an inch or two on most people. He proudly wears the red bandanna on his face, where it will always remain.  

Personality: Quiet, and always keeps things to himself. He likes to have his actions speak louder than words. Although he has a shy personality, he strives for superiority and conquest. He fully embraces the cultural  background of House Blackmont, and is eager to flay and manipulate others.

Servius would lead men into battle, and constantly help the Bannermen accomplish their thirst for war and raids. Representing the House politically could also serve as a good role when not slaughtering and flaying all who appose this glorious House.

Gender: Male

Appearance:
Dark, brown, curly hair that hangs down to his shoulders. Bright green
eyes that give him a certain innocence. A sharp jaw line with small
amounts of facial hair. He is almost constantly smiling, but his smile
has a certain evil or corrupt look to it. Overall, his appearance is
very charming and attractive.

Personality:
He is a deceiver, and a good one at that. He is very good at making
aquaintances so that he is able to use them to his advantage. He's all
about family and will do anything to better it. He's in no way afraid to
kill anyone, even women, as long as there is the slightest of a reason
to kill them. Vitellius is extremely ambitious, and always plans for the
next time he can further his family's power in Oren. The only people
his truely enjoys are his family members and the select few who he deem
to be his true friends.

The

Daedalus Flay

Short brown hair which he slicks to the right hand side, liking to keep himself looking tidy and neat. He has green eyes and if left unshaven, can grow a Petyr Baelish esque mustache and beard, he has fair skin and usually has a noticeable but small grin on his face.

 

Personality -

Daedalus fully knows and thrives on the fact that he has a privileged position as a member of the Flay house and uses this to his advantage, he is the type of person that loves to feel power over others, the feeling of somebody kneeling at his feet satisfies him more than almost anything else. 'Loved by none, feared by all' is an extremely good way to describe how people should feel about Daedalus, he tends to not gain friends unless they are very close family and even then, it's a rare occurance. He views the people under him as just that, under him. Even though he loves power, he thrives at being the second-in-command type of figure, rather than the head, he likes to take orders from another person but then 'delegates' those orders to the masses underneath him.

He takes his house's motto to heart; because of the house motto, he believes that keeping employees, bannermen and acquaintances in a state of fear is the best way to keep the on his side. He is a calm and composed, even cunning schemer when things are going correctly for him and the Flays, however if things start going wrong, his personality will begin to change to being a more aggravated, agitated and tempered person, often snapping at the people under his command and even members of his own family until he rises above the problem, then he reverts to his calm and cool demeanor.

Brother to Lucius Flay if possible, if I haven't understood this correctly, the son of Lucius would also be preferable  but I'm open to any.

 

The role you expect to take in House Flay -

I wish for Daedalus to have two roles within the house were he to be accepted; the first being one of the commanders of the bannermen which work for House Flay, however he would rarely risk his own life in combative situations unless he absolutely has to, however if an enemy were to be tortured, Daedalus would relish the chance to hold power over that individual and torture them both physically and emotionally. As a leader of the bannermen/vassals, he would likely organise tournaments for the bannermen (Both PvP and RP) in order for them to develop their prowess in combat for reward and prestige, and so Daedalus can enjoy his day presiding over the chaotic fights which would eventually occur between the brutalized Flay bannermen. The other would be the fixer esque role, manipulating and brokering alliances between House Flay and other entities in order to gain the best possible outcome for the Flays.

Character Name: Quintus Flay

Gender: Male

Appearance: Quintus, his hair dangled and curly as well as tangled, his eyes grimace with the foul color of his hair, black. He stands fairly taller than average height ((5'11 in todays terms)) and sports in fairly decent shape, having a good bit of lean muscle along with a bit of flab near his gut, probably from his bad habits in alcohol. Though Quintus's other features may boast unforgiving and fierce, his face has a rather kind complexion, almost childlike. His neck adorns a rather small birthmark, that is only noticeable if he were to remove his shirt, it looks a dark red. Other than that has been described, quintus is fairly normal otherwise.

Personality: Quintus is a rather vocal yet fairly kind man, he will willingly speak his mind on matters and is quite decent in manners and forgivingness to his piers and others that do not interfere in his diplomacy. Though it may seem as Quintus is a pretty good man, if one to know of his endeavors in diplomacy, one might change those thoughts. Quintus will stop at nothing to gain control in the government, though he will not act vulgar or rash towards his competitors publicly or in a discussion of political matters, he will use means of lashings, kidnapping and of course murder to achieve positions and dominance in his diplomacy.
