A Letter To The New Emperor

To the newly appointed Emperor, WIlliam Horen the Third

I, Athirius Articulus Owl the Second, recently returned from a journey with several members of my kin to find a great change has happened upon the most grand Empire I call my home, and you now sit at it's helm. My family has served the Kings and Emperors of men for as long as it can be remembered, and I have personally served as a squire and later bodyguard to both Godfrey and Horen before you. My house shall remain loyal during your rein and I myself shall swear fealty unto you whenever I may next see you in person. Though, unfortunately, I also returned to find my home, the castle of Owlswood, to have been taken from me. I must explain, my house had three distinct pieces of land in it's possession. The County of Avek'Tor in the Duchy of Corazon, the Count of Talonspoint in the Duchy of Valence, and the independant Barony of Owlswood under the Crownlands Duchy. Now, you must see, there is not a single piece of land I care to own more than Owlswood, the incomplete castle I have been having constructed in honour of my late father.

And so it is, your majesty, that in this time of great need for my house, I must ask of you a favour. I would request that you have my  house's Barony of Owlswood returned to me, and in return I will relinquish my claim to Talonspoint unto the old friend of my family and Duke of Valence, Gideon (Pius) Silverblade. I shall also relinquish my claim to Avek'Tor unto whoever now rules the Duchy of Corazon, though I am unsure whom that may be at the present time. All I ask is that Owlswood remains in my house's possession, even if we own no other land in the entire Empire. If this is not granted for us, I fear House Owl shall crumble away and I shall have failed my bloodline.

Please take this into consideration, your majesty

-Ser Athirius Owl II
