Welcome to the fort of the Cal'ek Warband. All those of righteous intention may find a home here.

Here, Fighters and Workers of all Races and Cultures gather. We gather together for two causes; Justice and Honor! Want to make a name for yourself? Fight alongside us, slaying monsters where ever they hide. Or perhaps you'd prefer a duel? Challenge other members to a duel, fighting your way to fame and glory. Combat isn't your thing? Then help build marvelous structures and gather the many necessities needed to fight the good fight.

We are also a group for hire. Need some work done right? There's none better than the Cal'ek Warband. Prices vary from member to member, and may be discussed with them directly. However, there is always a flat rate to pay to the Warband Chieftan per member and their ranking within the Warband.

Keep in mind, we are about honor and glory, and our members are allowed to reject any job they consider unworthy of their skill.

The three paths

There are three separate ways members can rise through the ranks. There is the path of honor, and then their is the path of glory. Each rank will be titled with a tier and a path. The higher the Tier, the higher ranked the member is. Members of the path of Honor, members of the path of Glory, and members of the path of Labor are all ranked equally based on tier. They are simply three separate paths up the same ladder. Every new member to the Cal'ek Warband starts out at the bottom of the ladder; Tier one. Once they prove themselves capable enough to be recognized as a true member of the Cal'ek Warband, they must choose between the path of Honor, the path of Labor, and the path of Glory.

The path of Honor is for those who wish to bring honor to both themselves and the Cal'ek Warband through many Honorable means. Slaying of bandits, protecting the innocent, guiding new souls through Aegis, solving crimes, and just any general action which helps bring justice and safety to the land of Aegis. The preferred weapon of the path of Honor is the Sword.

The path of Glory is for those who care little what they fight, so long as they are always fighting, always honing their skills, and always spilling the blood of the damned. Often the first to jump into the middle of a battlefield with little concern for their own safety, veterans of this branch can often be found fighting multiple opponents at once; and winning. The more opponents someone slays, the more Honor they bring to the Cal'ek Warband. The preferred weapon of the path of Glory is the Axe.

Glory tree:

The path of Labor is for those who wish to contribute to the Warband and its glorious intentions, but do not wish to fight unless absolutely necessary. Member's of the path of Labor can be found bringing Honor to themselves and furthering the Warband by building structures, obtaining the worlds ever expanding knowledge and wealth on the Warband's behalf, gathering supplies of all kinds, and manning our farms, workshops, and other facilities. The path of Labor has no preferred weapon, only preferred tools.

Rankings:

Warband Chieftan(Tier 6):

The ruler of the Cal'ek Warband. Both respected and revered for his knowledge, and honored and feared for his strength. One can not lead the Warband without both the support of the fighters and the power to overthrow the current Chieftan.

Cal'ek Paladin(Honor)(Tier 5):

Cal'ek Paladins are the Cal'ek Warband's most Honorable fighter's, and have proven themselves on countless occasions to be loyal to both the Cal'ek Warband and the righteous people of Aegis even under pain of death. Any Cal'ek Paladin will be known well throughout the land of Aegis, acting as the Warband's deliverer's of Justice and vanquisher's of evil, taking on jobs that are uncovered to be too complex or too powerful for Cal'ek Wardens or Knights.

Cal'ek Impaler(Glory)(Tier 5):

The Cal'ek Warband's most feared fighters. Each Impaler has slain thousands of fiends, and dozens of the Warband's enemies. Sometimes thought to be mortal Aenguls by the Warband, they are undoubtedly one of the most effective killing forces with in all of Aegis.

Cal'ek Knight(Honor)(Tier 4):

Valiant combatant's who have worked tirelessly to bring justice to the land of Aegis. A Cal'ek Knight's conviction and loyalty to the Warband and the people of Aegis is beyond contestation. The only thing sharper then a Cal'ek Knights senses is his blade.

Cal'ek Berserker(Glory)(Tier 4):

Experienced fighters of the path of glory. Thousands of fiends have met their demise at the hands of each Berserker. Powerful and fearless, Berserkers will jump head first into any fight, confident in their abilities and unafraid of their foe. Very few are foolish enough to challenge a Cal'ek Berserker to a battle, and even fewer survive the encounter.

Cal'ek Warden(Honor)(Tier 3):

Ah yes, the Honorable Cal'ek Wardens. These men and women are the Warband's mainstay force of Inquisitors, rooting out evil at any cost, and bringing an end to it if they are able. Cal'ek Warriors must prove time and time again that they are both trustable and reliable before they will be bestowed with the title of Warden.

Cal'ek Butcher(Glory)(Tier 3):

Fighters who have proven themselves to be worth something through combat. Cal'ek Butcher's have killed hundreds of fiends, bringing much glory to themselves and the Warband. More often then not, a Cal'ek Butcher can be found training young minds in the ways of war, enjoying a hefty banquet, or out massacring foes by the dozens. These are the mainstay fighters of the Warband.

Cal'ek Warrior(Honor)(Tier 2):

Young minds who have graduated from the rank of Initiate. These Honorable souls have shown a desire to bring Justice and Fair play to the land of Aegis, and a willingness to assist the righteous. While not yet proven to have a keen eye as a fair and wise Judge, they should still be shown respect as their intentions are pure.

Cal'ek Blood Thirster(Glory)(Tier 2):

Ah yes, Blood Thirster's. New fighters who graduated from the rank of Initiate, and have taken their first steps down the path of glory. These are willing but still weak minds that have yet to prove their worth. Many a Blood Thirster dreams of spilling the blood of their enemies by the limb full rather than actually doing it.

Initiate(Tier 1):

The rank any new member to the Cal'ek Warband is assigned. Initiates have not yet proved themselves worthy to fly the banner of the Cal'ek Warband, and as such are treated with little respect. Initiates must work long, hard, and tirelessly to prove themselves deserving of the rank of Blood Thirster, Warrior, or Apprentice. Initiates are not yet considered Brethren, and their actions do not reflect upon the Cal'ek Warband.

Laws set forth by the current Cal'ek Warband Chieftan:

- No theft from your Brethren or innocent citizens of Aegis under any circumstances. If we can not trust you, you are not our Brother in Arms.

- Gambling and alcohol are allowed with in the fort. However, gambling must be fair, and your drinking must be on your own time. Any rigged gambling will be considered theft and corruption, and consumption of alcohol while on duty will be considered incompetence.

- In a duel, the terms must be laid out before hand, and both combatants must agree to them. Any bets placed on the duel by Cal'ek members must be run through the Warband Chieftan, who will receive 10% of the total bets placed. Failure to pay the Warband Chieftan is considered theft and corruption.

- Any fellow member of the Cal'ek Warband is to be treated with respect based on their rank and actions, regardless of their age, gender, or race. While you do not have to like your fellow Cal'ek, you will respect them for their actions. If you have a personal problem with another Cal'ek, take it up with the Warband Chieftan or any member of the Cal'ek Council.

- Your honor and glory will be decided upon based on your actions by the Warband Chieftan at the time of each action.

- Your performance in duels will weigh upon your honor, and that of the Warbands. Duels can be a quick road to either fame and honor, or shame and exile.

- No innocent citizens of Aegis are to be harmed for any reason. We are not thieves, thugs, or murderers. This applies to all mercenary work taken. Regardless of how good the pay may be, Cal'ek are not honorless assassin's, and will not kill the righteous.

- Whether someone is innocent or worthy to be killed will be decided upon by the Warband Chieftan or any member of the Cal'ek Council. The Warband Chieftan's decision is final, and over rules any Cal'ek Council member's verdict or orders.

Punishments of the Cal'ek Warband:

Thinking of crossing the Cal'ek Warband? Well, lets make sure you know what you're in for. What punishment shall be bestowed upon you, regardless of your crime, is at the judgement of the Warband Chieftan, an appropriate council member, or a Cal'ek Paladin. Failure to accept a punishment will only make it worse, and bring dis-honor upon yourself. Both members of the Warband and citizens of Aegis who cross the Warband may be forced to face punishment at our hands.

- Forced Tribute: This is a sort of fine. It is tribute which you will be forced to pay the Warband Chieftan to be forgiven for your crime. At the discretion of the Chieftan, tribute can be in the form of Minas, resources, or services. Sometimes, the Chieftan will tell you what he will accept in tribute. Other times, you must decide for yourself what you think is worthy tribute for your crime. Do not insult the Chieftan with a belittling tribute, or the punishment will be worse.

- Exile: A punishment handed out to anyone who has proved themselves unworthy to the Warband. Exile is being cast out from Cal'ek territory, and forced not to return, or interact with any member of the Warband. Very rarely is Exile permanent, but when it is, it is under pain of death. It will be at the discretion of the Warband's Chieftan when an exile has proven themselves worthy, and may return.

- Forced Labor: This is a very dishonorable punishment, usually meant for crimes that taint the Warband's honor rather than its physical attributes. During forced labor, the offender will be forced to do manual labor, including mining stone, gathering logs, tending to the fields, digging out room for Warband buildings, construction, or any other number of labor intensive jobs. This will go on until the Warband Chieftan decides so.

- Forced service in the arena: Considered a death sentence, offenders sentenced to service in the arena will live in the arena, fight in the arena, and usually, die in the arena. Depending on their crime, they will be assigned how many fights they must compete in, and win, to gain their freedom back. This is one of the few punishments that does not bring dishonor with it. Infact, surviving and completing ones sentence in the arena will bring both honor and glory to the offender. If an offender puts on a good show, and shows skill in combat, even death in the arena can still bring some final honor to their name.

- Execution: Only reserved for the most dishonorable and shameful crimes. Offenders sentenced to execution will be taken to the arena, their crimes read to all in attendance, and if they have any honor left, will be given a chance to speak before they are promptly executed in any manor of ways.

- Forced service to the Warband: Another very shameful punishment. This can be conducted in any manor of ways. People handed this punishment become slaves to the Warband. Just a few of their duties include helping look after sick and wounded members of the Warband, conducting mail duty, being couriers for the Warband, cleaning up after the Warband's members, acting as maids and waiters at Warband banquets, conducting labor intensive work regardless of the weather, and fetching proven members their gear. Slaves to the Warband have no rights, and can be treated however a member of the Warband pleases.

- Stripped of rank: If someone dishonors themselves, or proves they are no longer worthy of their rank, they may be demoted. How far is up to the discretion of the Warband Chieftan or an appropriate Council member.

- Imprisonment: This is saved for only the most notorious criminals. If captured alive, and your crime is severe enough, you will be imprisoned for a set amount of time, and shown off as an example to other citizens of Aegis and would be criminals. Imprisoned enemies of the Warband will likely be forced to work during their sentence as well.

Benefits of joining the Cal'ek Warband:

These are the basic rights any member of the Cal'ek Warband shall receive. These are received once you are truly recognized as a member, as either a Warrior, Worker, or Blood Thirster.

- Members will have the right to housing. Whether this is a simple patchwork tent in camp or a beautiful longhouse will be up to the discretion of the Warband Chieftan based on the Warband's current situation.

- Members will have the right to Warband support. So long as they follow the rules of the Warband, and are in honorable standing with the Warband, any form of attack on a Warband member, is an attack on the entire Warband, and will be responded to as such.

- Members will have the right to necessities. Members of the Warband will be given food and water as often as the Warband can afford to keep themselves fed and nourished. They will also have access to any form of entertainment the Warband has to offer.

- Members will have the right to freedom. At any time, members of the Warband are free to leave the Warband. However, they may be required to surrender their belongings and pay a tribute.

- Members will have the right to equipment deemed necessary for their position. Members will have access to the best equipment the Warband Chieftan will allow that they need to do their job. This is, of course, based on the Warband's current supplies.

What to expect upon joining the Warband:

Upon being accepted into the Warband, you will undergo several checks and trials to see where you will fit best in the Warband, and to prepare you for life as a Cal'ek. These tasks include:

- Combat training conducted by the Warband Chieftan himself. The Warband Chieftan needs to make sure each Cal'ek is instructed properly in the art of war so that they are prepared for the impending battles that will undoubtably befall the Warband.

- Taking count of how many minas you have. If you have enough minas, you will be encouraged to donate upon entering the Warband. This helps out both the Warband and yourself in the long run.

- Seeing what abilities you have. The Warband Chieftan will want to know what areas you are skilled in so that he can best apply your abilities to the Warband's benefit, and so that you are as content as possible with your position.

- Put through a series of tasks of varying sorts to see if you have the necessary natural abilities to be a Cal'ek. Not everyone is able enough to be a Cal'ek, or willing to put in the time and effort needed to be. The Warband Chieftan may go easy on you, or he may try to push you to the limit. It all depends on what he thinks of you for being a Cal'ek.

Also, as the title says, we are a FACTION, not a nation. A faction is an unofficial term for a guild that is independently protected, not protected under a nation, meaning its diplomacy is as it pleases, its not bound to a nation's diplomacy, causing them to lose their bases protection should they "go to war" with that nation. Independent protection is hard to achieve, and far more costly than protection under a nation. But for the Cal'ek, it was a must seeing as we must be able to rule ourselves.

Apparently, the forum was hacked and thread's were deleted. Our thread was one such thread. The backup I have for the Cal'ek Warband is somewhat old, so bare with me as I patch it up to what it was. If you find any error's or anything not listed in the below list for things that need to be fixed/re-added, it'd be appreciated if you'd post them here.

Things needing to be re-added/fixed:

- The Labor Tree's descriptions

- The description for a Knight

- The description for an Impaler

Edit:

Huzzah!! I'm not sure how but Availer managed to recover the old thread for us as it was in its former glory( - bolding and letter sizing but that's the easy part). Give him a big round of applause and lets keep this ship moving.

Hope that the Dark Brotherhood doesn't visit you- you seem a threat...

What a battle that would be. My legion of trained, battle hardened soldiers versus your league of assassin's.......But no, you are assassin's, not bandits. Until that changes, or there are no more immediate threat's to the whole of Aegis, we will not be a "threat" to the whole of the Dark Brotherhood.

To all Cal'ek, the forum is currently down. I'm not sure what's going on, whether its simple downtime or we're being DDoS's or something.

For now, just chill, and we'll figure it out. If the forum is still down by this time tomorrow, I think its a fair guess that its been hacked.

I might....shank you, painfully....*reaches around for his knife*

@ char615. Due to the fact I don't like you or your personality and that my response would simply be in response to maturity, I'm going to with hold explaining why I have the patience to write that out and you do not.

Edit: Our forums are still down.... *sigh* I think someone's targeting us.
