Gorloths and The Gorloth Staff

A corrupted golem, also known as a Gorloth, combines the twisted remnants of a golem with a strange, organic fungal material (the corruption tendrils) which grow around the joints and hold them on, protecting it from joint attack. The core chamber is empty, and the Gorloth is controlled remotely via a corrupted staff (with the core in it).

 

The magical energy used to create and maintain this corrupting effect is channelled through Setherien’s power, and thus, Setherien and his inner-circle may detect and find both Gorloth and the staff no matter the location. The staff allows for very direct and controlled commands, as the golem is but a mere extension of your mind whilst you hold the staff. Rather than giving it tasks, you may take full control of the Gorloth and all its movements.

 

The Gorloth is less independent than a golem and requires direct command for anything. The advantage of being a Gorloth over a Golem would be that the Gorloth can be reconstructed by its corrupter after it has fallen and been destroyed. However certain extreme weaknesses also come to light, but for metagaming reasons these are to be discovered through roleplay interactions.

 

The Gorloth Staff can be seized, allowing the Gorloth to be controlled by any player who holds the staff. However, both the Gorloth and the Gorloth Staff act as a beacon to Setherien’s Dark lieutenants, meaning any player that possesses it will not do so for long. The Gorloth shall follow whoever holds the staff until given a command, so unequipping the staff shall cause the Gorloth to halt in its tracks. Note that the Gorloth must be within general shouting distance in order for it to interact with the staff.

 

Only a Dark Lieutenant may posses the power to have a golem changed into a Gorloth, but note that they cannot create them out of nothing, nor can they create golems. The secrets behind golem engineering are unknown to them and they lack the required equipment to make them, but due to fact that a core is needed, they must steal a pre-made golem beforehand.

 

The Gorloth Staff may be used by anyone at all, and currently there is only one in existence which belongs to the Dark Lieutenant Orithur, and the only current Gorloth is Aeon, which once belonged to the High Elves (this post will be updated should more be made). The staff itself glows and seemingly radiates energy, however it serves no magical purpose or use beyond the control of its Gorloth.
