Feral Mali’ker  Study Notes

By Charles Napier, Dean of Naturalism

"After hearing peculiar reports about a 'Giant Wolf' in the forests around Haelun'or, I have decided to investigate, research and observe this peculiar quarry myself. Packing up, I left straight away. Within a few days, I came across a sleeping Mali'ker under a tree, with the wolf creeping ever closer to the fellow. I yelled out for the fellow's safety, and the 'Wolf' bolted, moving in a way no canine has ever moved. The male elf disappeared, cornering the wolf and grabbing it..At that moment, it was a woman wearing a wolf pelt, and not much else..The subject seems to be a completely feral dark elf girl, and bears much further investigation."

Appearance

Five and a half Feet at best estimate

Primitive clothing, hide and fur, barely covering.

Covered in minor scarring - Violent lifestyle

Wears Wolf pelt, possible physiological affiliation.

Amber hued eyes

Silvery hair

Behavior

Canine activities and behavioral patterns in all acts of living, crawls on hands and feet, rarely stands, uses teeth, not hands. Heavy investment in sniffing and tasting things before use, or further inspection.  Mainly displays emotion through facial expression, leverage of ears and vocal noises. Aggressive, even to apparent mate. Aims for tendons and soft spots, obviously learned in proper areas to strike.

Diet

Assumed heavy meat eater, curious about objects in term of food - If it isn’t edible, it’s not interesting. A side note, I’d expect the subject to have some curious ailments, such as intestinal worms, various meat inducted illnesses, and mild scurvy.

Day One

"Entered the Den, was accosted by them. The female subject is much more animalistic, fearing and cowering at a thunderclap and at an idle demonstration of a flint and steel, sending sparks into the dark. It is easy to understate how Canine the subject is in thought process, it seems as if she believes herself fully to be a wolf."

"The male accompanying her is much more civilized, capable of Human speech, thought and weapon usage. I'm curious, and horrified if so; has this male demeaned a female elf to the point of Beast thought?"

"The den...It would be easier to describe the smell, then of the actual appearance. They are both Dark elves, and thus their night vision is much stronger than mine, and the interior is hardly lit at all. The den contained a musty smell, like that of an old building, along with the scent of decaying plant matter and wet dog.”

"The area around the cave is lush, and I imagine carefully chosen as a hiding spot due to the thick underbrush and leaves around the entrance. Off to the side, and a sidenote, a high consistency of gnawed on animal bones were found around the area, including a Deer skull, and pieces of antler. I'm quite curious about this, as I assume she has very little need to teeth."

"The Female subject had howled at the moon, on a personal note, one of the most beautifully haunting thing's I've ever heard. The pitch and tone of it leads me to believe that she may have been raised among the wildlife, and is calling out to a lost pack, long isolated from both them and Human contact."

"During a recent observation, my spyglass rolled down the hill and into her grasp. Biting and sniffing it; of course not finding it to be edible, she took it back to the central field, where the male appeared. I'm startled at the possessive nature of the object, as I assume in her eyes, it would have little to no use, it's not edible, nor a tool to be used. But yet, she fought and bit the male over it, then took it to a tree and buried it. My guess is to wait and see if it rots or softens."

"During dawn, the Male seemed to be quite inclined to hurry back into the cave, the safe realm of the dark. An easy observation of nocturnal behavior, as the most activity seen so far yet has been in the darkest hours. The female does not seem to be as nocturnally inclined, and seemed puzzled about his retreat out of the light. From there, she sat in the field, making coos and yips to the mouth of the cave, possibly in an attempt to coax the male out before eventually moving inside herself."

"I stayed up through the night, intrigued by their behavior. I wasn't able to hear very much, but by dawn, the growls and howls were more than audible, and the female limped outside, appearing to have been in a fight of some sort, stumbling and weaving, before finally collapsing. The male, I'll note at this point, was standing; he picked her up with surprising gentleness, taking her back inside."

"I've taken a screw-top jar, and placed a large haunch of meat inside. To get the scent out, I've punched three holes in the top, not enough to get any tools through, but enough to let the scent emanate out. To open the jar, the female will have to use her hands to open it. My only fear, is that the more sophisticated male may open it for her, ruining the entire experiment."

Day Four

It's been three days, and she hasn't left the den. However, luck is with me. She left the den to inspect a stone I dropped outside, and ran into the jar. Smelling the meat I spiced specially for it, she was instantly piqued. The real challenge came with her trying to get into it. A personal note, the look on her face when she bit the jar was quite comical. Gnawing did nothing, nor barking or running around the jar in circles."

"Patience running low, I assumed (Dangerously) that she might at the very least have the learning curve of the Simians of Karakatua. Not so.. Attacked with tooth and nail, but more with tooth. Interaction is costly, and any unneeded interaction is a detriment. This setback I brought upon myself, one I'm not eager to bring upon once more."

"I fled to another observation spot, as she took on a new idea, batting the jar around and rolling it. Eventually, it rolled down the hill to a nearby rock jetting. This gave me an idea, to demonstrate roughly. I dropped one of my own glass jars from above, it shattering on the rocks. Seeing this, she then pounced on the jar, breaking it with her weight."

Unfortunately, in the act of breaking the jar, she lodged a frighteningly large shard of glass into her palm. Since she walks in a quadrupedal fashion, not bipedal, this would wound her terribly; as well, I felt it was my fault. I raced over, risking everything to try and dislodge the glass and wrap her hand. Limited success, it took one of my needles to sedate her enough to work with. Task done, but at a bad cost."

"The Alpha wolf, I'm assuming, was lurking over the hill, ready to protect his 'pup', I'm guessing. After running me off, the Wolf proceeded to lick the bandages around her wound heavily, until it was soaked, along with the recent scratches on her face from heaven knows what. A footnote, this leads me to believe that the Saliva of a Canine might possibly prevent infection."

"Now, the Alpha is incredibly territorial. As I write this, me and my new colleague have been 'tree'd. Previously, he ran me up the hill. Trying to assert dominance, I foolishly kicked the wolf in the nose, and was
rewarded with a ferocious few bites.."

"Whilst the wolf was on my heels, the Girl was moving quietly, stalking her prey..Quite unnerving, but a definite sign of a strong pack mentality."

"She knew to go for the face, biting my cheek, nose and beard, a terrifying experience. Haven't come that close to death since my Fever in Krakatoa, but that's another journal. I was only saved by the random occurrence of a passing by hooded man, who engaged the pair while I fled into the trees. Botar, is his name. Amiable fellow, if a bit crude and simple-minded."

"Unsuspecting, I was jumped by her. It's a peculiar thing, a beautiful woman trying to kill you. On one hand, you're entranced by her fierce beauty, and on the other, you're scared for your life.. I digress. The Alpha then jumped me at last, pinning me down. A filthy move, but a necessary one, I kneed his bollocks, causing a reaction I have never seen in an Animal. If it were not for that, I would be a meal right now.."

"By the time I was able to see the happenings in the valley, she had Botars staff, chewing on it roughly, a comical sight. She then proceeded to turn, bonking the alpha in the nose, something straight out of a
Gallamore slapstick."

"Safe in the tree, it was time to return to observation. The Alpha pushed her over, making sure she stayed put, most likely as a form of retribution for the bop on the nose. She stayed fully well put, rolling onto her back and whimpering, akin to a shamed puppy."

"While we were tree'd, I thought of stimulating a social interaction between the Wolf and his pup, throwing some meat down to start this. She jumped at it, coveting for herself much to the annoyance of the Alpha. Gripping her neck with his teeth and forcing her down, gently of course, the Alpha asserted Dominance and took the scrap for himself."

"After this little demonstration, she decided to frolic about with the Alpha, rolling and jumping around, as well as play wrestling. A shocking feat of strength by the female, she was well able to meet and not get thrown back from a wolf tackle, the amount of pure muscle on her is fascinating."

"While myself and Botar were observing this, he commented on how lean she is.. After a bit of thought, I agreed. Poor girl must be riddled with worms and parasites; I decided to medicate the next offering of meat to try and flush her system. Another note on pack behavior between the two, she waited for the Alpha to look over and sniff the meat, tearing it apart; no doubt smelling the wormwood. Deeming it safe, she ate it. After, it caused her minor distress, as the parasites would be dying in staggering amounts. The Alpha seemed distressed and uncomfortable about her discomfort, and was able to pin the source on us, not the meat."

"More canine behavior, she ate grass and the flowers around her, trying to calm down her stomach. The Alpha eventually went into the den, no doubt after a long day of fighting and growling at myself and Botar; he made a sharp bark and she followed in after, footnote; she most likely understands these vocalizations. From there, the day ended, and I called it a night."

"I've decided to kick off the day with some observation; she played in the rain quite alot, almost overjoyed at it. Running around, jumping, leaping, rolling in the mud, she was ecstatic. Then, I dropped a biscuit down to her, obviously she was curious, she picked it up and took it inside, I assume to check, or share with her mate."

"Whilst she was in the den, I placed a cardboard box down with meat inside just outside of it. Unfortunately, I wasn't fast enough and she ran me out of the valley, but didn't chase me any further. It seems the valley is 'hers'. From there, she was quite puzzled about the box, sniffing and nipping at it."

"Unfortunately, the experiment wasn't as controlled as I would have liked, the Male came out of the Den, taking note of the Box. He didn't trust it, although she did.. He tore up the box and threw the pieces away. Interesting note, she snatched a bit of the cardboard up, playing with it, and chewing it. I assume she enjoys the texture of it."

"The Male then spoke to her, Alas, I couldn't make out what was said. Some sort of primitive dialect, which is promising; she can understand words and more. With the coming of of the sun, the male retreated back into the den. While I was writing, a sheep snuck up on me, giving me quite a fright! It wandered down into the Valley, and the female elf immediately started to stalk it."

"I lost track of her, but she didn't lose track of me.. She burst from a bush nearby, easily knocking and pinning the sheep under her. From there, she tore apart the more delicate flesh on the stomach. Footnote, this is most likely due to her un-sharpened teeth, lack of canine teeth, and a weaker jaw."

"From there, she ripped open the sheeps stomach, spilling out most of the blood and innards; then backing away, waiting patiently for the sheep to die. Once dead, she moved in to feed, eating the liver and a bit of the stomach first. Before leaving, she dragged away a haunch for her mate."

"He came out when she neared the opening with the haunch, whilst she seemed very excited. He spoke to her again, reaching out to her. She chewed, or rather nibbled his fingers in an almost endearing manner, also seeming very confused when he offered the haunch back to her. He then turned to us, and through sign language I'm assuming, told me the valley is his."

"The male left, and I saw Botar cocking around from the other side of the Valley, and so did the female, disappearing into the grasses. She was very clever about it, striking him from behind and tumbling down the hill. She certainly loves that staff.."

"Botar pushed her off, and she charged; but backed off when he whistled. Yet again, my theory stands that this Male has somehow..Trained her.."

"Now..Botar troubles. That foolish dwarf and his stupid staff, I shouted at him to leave the staff and his backpack, but he refused..entire thing is at risk!" "Two days of this, and she's still sitting on him, she's bloody as stubborn as he is! Food, noise, nothing! Persistent girl, and a persistent Dwarf..Maddening."

"A few days later, Botar made his escape, the silly fellow. Nasty bites to the face, and torn pants were the worst damages done. She didn't make chase beyond the valley, her 'territory'.." "This will be most handy if I need to leave in a hurry; she won't pursue."

32nd of Suns Smile, 1443

========

"Ah, a new day..Woken by a bloody training regiment of Sentinels and legion. She seemed very curious about the whole ordeal, no doubt struck by the appearance of so many elves and dwarves.."

"I went down beside her, and to my penance, foolishly tossed a carrot to her..Provocation. She attacked, and ran me up a tree again, then went back to watch the regiment, utterly captivated by the activities and group work."

"When they grew to rowdy, she retreated into her Den. From there, I left to gather supplies, and I pray she remains unseen."

"I returned to find the most daft, and annoying man I've ever met in my life, some idiot Sentinel. I warned him away numerous times, but she attacks, jumping at him. A clonk with his staff puts her down, but only for a few seconds..In times like this, I wish she would just lick her wounds and run into her Den. with luck, I got him up the slope, an out of her territory. Then, she ignored us."

"He couldn't even tell she was female, and when I did, God, the comments..Unproffesional to write them down, really. He drew a bow, and aimed to shoot her, and for gods sake, she held her ground! I threatened him, so he let her be.."

"His idiot comments continue, and it began to rain. She found the buisness quite fun as stated before, frolicking around. The sentinel wanted a nearby deer skull, and I did warn and tell him it was hers, and how strongly she possesed things. Yet more, he commented on things to lude to write down, and threw stones at the Den."

"She turned to the den, the thud of stones drawing her; turning back to the forest every so often, and started to make little yips and yowls, before letting out a loud howl. Then, she waited, watched, and listened..When they were answered, (A sign of a fully integrated pack member), she was utterly ecstatic. Unfortunately, that idiot sentinel yelled out, blaring out her cry, and ruining what may well have been a calling to her pack; her family...

"The amount of frustration is..hard to put into words or writing, his idiot threats, his attacks on her and myself, I had warned him numerous times that this was a study, not some fools project! He left eventually to 'Tell the Guard' about me. I left the area to seek out Khel to get the area protected and prohibited from common foot traffic, success. No more interruptions, hopefully."

"I returned, and first things first; I set the box closer to the Den. Her fascination with them is intriguing, as she only plays with them alone, not sharing for anyone. Something about them is very interesting to her... I decided to test her and my reflexes, as well as see how she responds to stimulation that doesn't make sense. I strung a box from a line, and let it fall down to her. I wish I could have sketched her face, the shock was quite comical! I jigged it around like a cat-toy, and she responded as such, when I lifted it out of her reach she poised to pounce, and pounce she did! Faster than I could tug it up, she nabbed it and nibbled at it quite happily."

"Her mate, (If he is indeed that), whistled from within. As per usual, she went towards it, seemingly...Trained to come when called. With that, the sun sets and the day ends."

What do you all think of this so far? ))

((There is some lore surround feral elves of sort already. They are the mindless "Soldiers" of the dwarven antagonist Ordanach. They live down in the deep roads and use weapons of hardened ice to my knowledge. Think of the Falmer from skyrim, but a bit changed, less bug related bits and more Ice and Snow related bits ^^))

((Quite frankly, I would love for my character to come across these two. What I most wonder about is their reaction to, what would be to them, a potential predator (considering Buubztik is over double the girl's height). Orcs themselves are fairly feral, at least compared with other races, and so a fight between the two and Buubztik would be awesome RP.

Either way, this was very well written, I look forward to more reports.))
