Edward Caius stood atop a stool surrounded by his groomsmen. "Try the other," he suggested with a dismissive wave of the swatch of fabric placed against his lapel. In exchange, a rose embroidered Tyrian velvet was matched instead. "Yes, this will do perfectly."

Council of King James I, Aaunic Archives c. 1930s W E B E S E E C H Y O U T H E D I E T o f 2 0 0 3 A PRAYER UNTO THE LAND In nomine Domini Dei nostri Principum ducum ac nobilium harum regionum prosapia dirigite in inprovisa sapientia. Amen. ♰ TO THE PEOPLE OF AAUN, We, Princess Cecily and Prince Edward, have called upon your presence at Falcon’s Rest to usher in a new century—a new age for Aaun—and you answered that call. In doing so, you have rekindled a passion that had dimmed over the past decade, a flame now burning brighter than ever, as radiant as the morning sun. The light of His Holiness has sustained life in these lands, yet we must ask ourselves: What cause do we have in rising each day, if not to leave our mark upon the realm? What do we strive for? What do we fight for? It is not the faint candlelight we seek, whose flicker is easily extinguished by the whisper of the wind. Instead, we search for the steadfast light of the Sun, whose burning rays guide the day. The reign of Charles II was but a short time ago, yet the vigor of a people committed to action has been lost for far longer. How long has it been since our people gathered in a single hall, not only to break bread, but to discuss the pressing matters of state and the welfare of those we have sworn to steward? And now the question arises: How much longer must we wait for our slumbering neighbors to stir once more? A flame burns in our hands now, one that grows ever hotter. We write to you not merely to invite your pedigree, but to beseech your presence, for it is a duty to the nation that rests heavy upon our shoulders. We raise the torch that once crowned the Hand of Horen. Like the soaring walls that held it high, we lift it up and call upon the peers of Aaun to behold its light–and let it serve as the beacon that guides the way. We, in the spirit of progress, do hereby beseech every burning heart in Our Realm to join Us at the Diet of the Year 2003 in the honored halls of Venic’s burgh chambers, granted to Us by the grace and generosity of Mother Valerie Auclair, We shall convene this gathering as a place where all voices may be heard. Know that this Diet is a stage upon which all may stand, where commoners and lords shall hold the right to speak truthfully. We endeavor to strengthen the Kingdom of Aaun through Our deeds and the collective wisdom, insight, and fervor of the people. Thus, do not hesitate to bring forth what burdens or inspires you. From matters of justice and prosperity to the welfare of land and kin, all shall be given its due ear so that we may guide its future together. PROCEEDINGS, We, Princess Cecily and Prince Edward, upon the opening of this Diet’s first session, do outline these matters to be discussed and moderated by acting speaker, Joseph Frederick von Preussens. Each matter will be prescribed an unlimited amount of time for discussion until motioned by a member of the convening Diet to adjourn the matter with a majority “Aye” consensus. The words of the proceeding will be recorded by acting scribe, Lord Malcolm d’Arkent — unless stricken from the record by the speaker. The House of Alstion presents these matters to be weighed upon with prepared speech by those joining us upon the Diet of 2003: I. ON DISPLACED ENTITIES and PEOPLES a. This body motions to discuss the stance and response of past and incumbent displaced bodies. II. ON LAND PRESERVATION and GRANTS a. This body motions to discuss the beautification of Aaunic lands and vassal estates. III. ON ONE MUNICIPALITY a. This body motions to discuss a new unified municipality. IV. ON GOVERNING BODIES a. This body motions to discuss a governing body for legislative processes. We hope to convey the sentiments of this Diet unto our most diligent and beloved regent, the High Pontiff, that thereby we may incline ourselves towards the restoration of our realm. Upon his visit to the Free City of Venic, Edward Caius would sign the Lorraine as he entered into the private chambers of the Malatesta Household. "God be with your family, Rey." He spoke softly, "Cecily and I pray for your mother's health everyday."

of HRH Calliope Analiese Alstion 1965 - 2002 A Funeral Procession, Aaunic Archives c. 1930s PRAYER FOR THE DECEASED: Amandi noster Pater noster, qui ut oremus damnato factum est tandem suum iter tuum terras. Petimusque ut videamus eos, dum transire temporis aeterni regni tui. In nomine Patris, amen. ♰ It is with deep sorrow that Her Royal Highness Princess Cecily and I, Prince Edward Caius, confirm the passing of our beloved aunt and cousin, Her Royal Highness Princess Calliope Analiese Alstion. We extend our gratitude for the efforts of Her Excellency, the Lady Emissar Emma Kortevich in informing us forthright, and further announcements regarding her passing will be made in due course. We do ask for privacy at this time but encourage the people of Aaun to join us in mourning our shared loss by donning black until the funeral procession occurs. We thank our cousins of Enswerp for graciously hosting the funeral and look forward to coming together as a family, and more importantly as a nation, in reflecting on the light Princess Analiese left upon the world – which was extinguished all too soon. Our hearts go out to those who have felt the warmth of Princess Analiese’s impact upon the realm, and most of all, to her fiancé, Count Mateusz Sarkozic. We extend our thoughts to House Sarkozic and the County of Aldersberg and pray that the Count be found alive and well. Edward Caius Alstion placed a gentle hand upon the face of his wife to be, "Our union brings a new light to the realm. And all will witness its warmth." He assured her. "I've spoken with Cardinal Ivan and Father Alaric, there is only good to come of this."

Cordelia Claudine read the missive with disgust, "The fat oaf claims to protect the smallfolk yet burns their very homes without care? Oh how the scorn of ignorant children ruin the good works of their parentage." She lamented as she crumpled the missive. "It is known the house of Stassion never swore fealty, and now they seek to claim titles that were never pledged to them! What has the world gone to when lords build walls of lies to protect themselves! Is this the way Ravenmire seeks to inspire loyalty? Under brutal fire and brimstone?" She'd turn the reigns of her horse back toward Rhosmark, seeking to provide aid and shelter for the smallfolk savaged by the evil Earoslav. "Thus I say, if it is fire and blood this false protector of the smallfolk lives by, it is fire he will be consumed by in the seven hells!"

Letter to the Royal Duma: Additions to the Orders of Merit
ErosTea replied to CheekyNolan's topic in Royal Duma
The Old Alstion Crone read the missive, perched atop her lofty apartments. "Ah, how lovely..." She muttered quietly to herself before requesting her scribe. "Write to his lordship," She began, "Give him my thanks - a generous title..." she trailed off, expecting the servant to complete the mindless task in a manner she would some thirty or so years ago. "Now, onto the next city."- 1 reply

The old crone-princess read the missive with tender spotted hands under candlelight as her mind thought fondly of her long since passed husband's love for hunting.

Cordelia Claudine raised the visor from the helmet that was too large for her young head. She looked up toward her mother's cold gaze that stared toward the horizon as they rode onward. Where will we go now? She wanted to ask her mother, but a voice within her chided the silly question. She knew what her mother would say. The young Stassion bit her tongue as she held tightly onto her mother's back. "A dragon cannot be consumed by fire, it only burns brighter." She said to herself quietly. And the fire within her sparked anew.

Charlotte Henrietta knelt beside the cold body of her sister as she wept. She confided with her one last time. "I fear that death makes a mockery of me sweet sister..." she spoke softly. "It has taken everyone around me and the walls are beginning to close in. I can feel it chasing me, and yet I continue to run. I know not for how long until my legs will give out." She grabbed her sister's stiff hand, caressing the rings that sat on her fingers. "It seems so long ago that we were girls once. Back in Vienne everything seemed so new... when time was a distant friend." Charlotte's eyes drifted toward the air next to her, visions of death surrounding her. "And now it seems you two have been acquainted." Charlotte laid a kiss on Anna's forehead, before signing the Lorraine. "Sweetest sister, you join Sigismond now. Tell Ottomar I miss him dearly for now you are with all that I have lost. Father, and mother, and James, and..." She'd trail off listing those that had ascended without her.

Charlotte Henrietta signs the lorraine at the end of her grand-nephew's great slumber. "Blessed be, the line of Alstion is strong!"

"It seems blood runs so freely, perhaps we should begin painting streets red." Charlotte Henrietta said to herself quietly as she read the missive perched from the stark halls of the Hand of Horen.

Charlotte Henrietta began writing a monologue to represent King Adrian's response. "Oh, how quickly he seeks to remove any accountability from the situation! Woe to all queens, when she tries it is not enough and when she fails it is by all accounts her fault! Woe!"

Charlotte Henrietta closed the doors to her quarters quietly. A scream could be heard throughout her home as she clawed at her neck and tore off her fine garments. She'd lock her doors, refusing anyone to enter, nor food or drink. She only chose to lay in her bed, their bed, longing for something now gone.

"I was beginning to think you had been taken to the seven skies!" Charlotte Henrietta cried out as she entered into the main hall of Castle Aurelian, several long scrolls of plans for a new city nestled between her arms. "It is time we resume our great work here."

So this is how liberty dies... with thunderous applause.

Charlotte Henrietta, during a routine checkup on the Queen Mother, ordered the guards stationed at the Queen Mother's door to let her in. Upon her entrance she found the room vacant--as if the wind had swooped in and taken her niece-in-law away. There was an open chest with missing jewels, a half eaten loaf of bread, and a stool facing freedom, though everything else had been left almost untouched. Her heart pounded in her chest, but not because she had failed at some internal duty toward the King's justice, but because a small part of her was proud that the Queen Mother had chosen her own path, whether it was at the bottom of the watry rocks below or somewhere in the wilderness, she was strong. She turned around and headed outside of the room, closing the doors carefully behind her. She'd whisper to Baldrick to find the body and signed the lorraine. "GOD be with her, wherever she may be."
