Soren was born the second child in a family that was part of the Orenian Imperial Army. His oldest brother Kaito was a soldier who taught Soren from a young age how to use a bow and arrow and swing a sword. Soren also had a younger sister Kairi, a curious and very intelligent mind who latched herself onto her older brother as a father figure. Soren's birth mother and father were barely present in his upbringing and whenever they were around they would praise the military and groom Soren into one day taking Kaito's place and representing the family within the army. At the age of around 15 years old disaster struck when Kaito was wounded in a training exercise and came home with an amputated leg and missing a few fingers. The sight horrified Soren and scarred him into never wanting to be a soldier which enraged his parents greatly, his father become cold and distant and would often abuse Soren whenever he refused to practice his sword skills with him. About a year after the injuries Kaito ended up dying due to an infection which put Soren into a depression his parents saw as weak and would lead to even more harrassment from them. Kairi and Soren were also seperated by his mother who thought she was the reason Soren did not want to be in the military and would lock her in her room and make her study whenever Soren was home only letting her out when he was busy. This would lead to Soren purposefully leaving the house for up to days at a time sleeping out in the fields just so his sister could live a somewhat ordinary life. One day he decided he was sick of his family and went out into the streets alone. The streets were a very cold and unforgiving place but Soren thought he found someone who could help him. A man by the name of Seratoph offered Soren guidance and a place to live for a few days. After treating him with somewhat warmth and decent enough food Soren would overhear the man talking to a mob about selling Soren off to them into forced servitude. After hearing this Soren tried to run which made a noise that alerted the group. While escaping one of the bigger members had caught up to him and sliced at his leg with a knife leaving a deep gash as he fled. When Soren had finally escaped he found a cloth and used it to cover up his leg before running back to his home. When he arrived his parents were furious with him and his dad told him he had dishonored his family and was being exiled for his abandonment of his duty. In tears Soren fled the house the last thing he heard was Kairi screaming for him not to leave her as the doors would slam behind him. A year since leaving his family Soren has tried to start a new life from himself far away from home in the town of Yong Ping. He has barely any money to his name and often goes day's without eating trying to save as much as he can to afford to live anywhere but the streets. His training he had with Kaito has given him enough combat knowledge to fend for himself when he needs to but Soren tries to avoid everyone he sees not trusting anyone who lives out on the streets after Seratoph. Soren plans to one day once he has enough to settle himself in a new life return home and take Kairi with him to start their own lives in the prosperous new city that he finds himself in.
