  1. Title says it all. This is how developers go out, with click-baity titles. This is my last post for a while. I'm leaving. Rejoice in my absence, or mourn it. It matters no longer to me. I am leaving LotC to pursue school, other projects, and other games. I still have a lot to learn, and probably some of the most important things to learn is how to take criticism better. I'm an ass, generally rude and very stubborn. I love LotC, being my first ever and only major Minecraft server that I have easily logged several thousands of hours into, building, writing, eventually moderating, and then developing. I picked up some bad habits while being a global moderator, I stopped listening to players, and even to this day I struggle to see past my own views. I recognize my short comings, and simply wanted to apologize for those who feel like I have wronged them in some manner. Sorry. I have learned a great deal from my time on LotC, truthfully I'll probably always owe any success I have to this server - without Kowaman and the Dev team I likely would have switched majors, wasted thousands pursuing a field I wasn't interested in. I found development fun, I added new things, and enjoyed adding new things. But... sometimes there are places which don't work well with new. Perhaps someday I might return to LotC, with a better mindset and an important asset I lack sometimes - an open mind. Enough of that however, I had planned on taking a break for a while and letting someone else take my mantle. School is starting soon, and while I know I'm going to miss the server - learning all these new things that I would just die to use to make code on LotC more efficient, it is simply the right thing to do. Hope you guys enjoy 5.0, a lot of people have put a lot of effort into it and they're really hoping you'll like it! Goodbye, Sean K (501warhead) To Atles: To Heero: To MedicoreGamer: To Alras: To the Ascended: To James: To GM aspirants: ? To Tythus: To Coders: To Dizzy: To everyone else: Some of you I talk to a lot, and so I dont leave something here for you because I'm going to keep talking to you, like Aengoth. I haven't forgotten you all, but I dont want to be writing this forever. Goodbye :)
  2. Summer Games Done Quick! Amazing stuff. Pop on by, give it a watch, very entertaining and for a great cause!

  3. Greetings Lord of the Craft! Apologies for the long absence, I have returned and today I begin the first initiative of my return; Review of the 1.9.4 combat system! This is something we're all pretty heated about and there's been a lot of back and forth for a little while, today I'm here to poll public opinion on the matter. Here's a google form link, go on and fill it out! Everything you really need to know about voting is inside. (This requires a google account login to reduce the possibility of forging votes.) http://goo.gl/forms/9gcvgsuqu3oaHduj2 Still around? Go vote! Already voted? Alright. For the duration of the voting (~1-2 weeks-ish, depending on how fast all the votes come in and how slow it dies down) posts which encourage a user to vote one way or another will be removed, there's been plenty of time to discuss it already and there are already quite a few very good, well thought out posts by some of the more outspoken community members which if you need to read you may, you can look for them in the feedback section of the forums! Thank you to everyone who has contributed to this ongoing discussion, we're working to make sure that your voices are heard on this matter - so go vote! Thank you for reading, have a good day or night, and stay passionate! -- 501warhead, Lead Developer

I remember 501 saying he has no clue what is going to happen for warclaims. Great to put an update no one wants or is used to right before an update when you have no clue what you're going to do.

stop trying to publicly shame nathan nothing good comes of it other than rep or warning points

and yeah, i mean what's the plan here? me and salvo stockpiled like an arse load of good weapons, will they all just have no attack speed? are you going through EVERY chest @Why. and changing each weapon to have a suitable damage+attack speed ratio? nerfing/buffing every piece of armour that exists? seriously, what's the plan here?

  8. The Open beta is now closed.

thanks, who needs beta males anyway

  9. Open beta re-opened, now with less server crashes.

  10. Open Beta now Live! dev.lotc.co

  11. We bought a better live server, not a better Beta server. We're hardly going to dump enough funds into a server which will be used for testing like this for one weekend and then never again for 3 months. 40 is pushing this boxes' capacity, so it's a take it or leave it.
  12. This is just new plugin features. There is no new map or event content located on the Beta Testing server.
  13. Greetings Lord of the Craftians! Tonight at 6PM EDT begins Open Beta Testing, because we all love it when we have too many things to do! The Open Beta Testing will be from Today until Monday, so you have plenty of time to hop in and join the fun! As stated in the previous post you'll be able to test Skills and Combat. Below will be the information for the server for when it unlocks. IP: dev.lotc.co Max players: 40 Minecraft Version: 1.9.4 (the .4 is important, 1.9 and 1.9.2 will not be able to connect to the server) Feedback posts Combat: Click Skills & Crafting: Click These posts are the location to share feedback on the Open Beta Testing. Other posts will be removed - trying to keep the feedback in one location. You may post about any bug you find, any feature you don't like or like, etc. as long as it falls under the category you're posting in. -- 501warhead, Lead Developer EDIT: Updated times to be better for the Warclaim
  14. Update on the 1.9.4 update; I've visited a large amount of the bonus %'s on weapons. Weapon %'s have been lowered across the board so that Damage Per Second can be no more than 3.0 above their vanilla counterparts.

    Example; Iron Sword.

Vanilla Damage Per Second: 9.6 (6 attack damage * 1.6 attacks per second)

LotC Damage Per Second (with the highest roll): Roughly 12.6 at it's highest. This would mean that rolls will go up to 33% (33% of 9.6 = ~3, 9.6+3=12.6) instead of the former 65% on Black Ferrum Blades.

Stonemason-crafted weapons will, as usual, be able to go higher than the other rolls (although it's minimum roll will be equivalent to the Black Ferrum-tier weapons, so you're paying more for the ability to get better weapons although it's no garentee it'll be better.)

Numbers (as of this moment, subject to change post-beta test.)

Swords 70% (Stonemason) (old highest) -> 33% (Black Ferrum) (12.8 Maximum DPS)

Axes 65% (old highest) -> 42% (Black Ferrum) (11.7 Maximum DPS)

Pickaxes 65% (old highest) -> 36% (Black Ferrum) (11.8 Maximum DPS)

    Two other things of note:

These changes will be applied retroactively.  Any existing weapons will have their numbers scaled down to match these new numbers.

Weapon bonus rolls are going to be following a different curve this time around, a vast majority of the weapon bonus damage will be obtainable within the earlier levels (~5-6 added each level) and higher levels will be more marginal with weapon damage increases (~0.4-0.5 added each level.)

These changes will be announced on the patchnotes released post-beta testing.

First off gas velocity, should not be possible to get on a bow unless you're master-aengul, otherwise just make it flat archery damage.

    3. oblivionsbane

      oblivionsbane

Do you really think that could work in LotC PvP? I mean we already have weird modifiers along with large scale PvP LotC does? I mean, i know Kalen has tested everything he can, but I wouldn't call him a PvP'er, and although he may look at the data of, "This blocks 100% damage," he can't be as experienced as someone who has actually practiced in 1.9 PvP a bunch. So, what do you think of shields? When do they lag? Why do they lag? Is it just you missing your blocks?

    4. mmat

      mmat

Bows are OP at the moment.

  15. It's marginal at best. It's not like you're only going to get gold nuggets, also you can drink potions of luck and you'll get 10x better loot from caskets, that's like a bonus 100% luck.
  16. I will consider it based off of the results of the beta testing, Shields block 100% of arrow damage and hard counter bows. I dont want to nerf archery/wood elves/anything archery related until I know for sure that they're still broken even with shields.
  17. As an author of one of the threads you have a high level of bias in this comment. My only response is; I have no intentions of making any large-scale sweeping changes/skill overhauls until Post-1.9.4 at the earliest, Likely such will not be considered before 5.0. Something the beta testing is intended to discover. This would be a bug if true, and thinking about it now I do think this is the case, I'll have that fixed before release.
  18. Be sure to keep up with the latest news, this was already addressed
  19. Greetings Lord of the Craft! Today I come to announce the fruits of our hard work over on the development team, the 1.9.4 update. We've been working on this since February and it's shown - we've released far less content than we had been before! We're excited to announce news about Beta Testing as well as the Release date itself! Beta Testing As this is the first update in a while, featuring loads of skill updates, new crafting recipes, new mechanics, the works, we're going to be doing Open Beta Testing. This is going to function simply; An IP is posted, whitelist is disabled, and you log on. You will be able to test the following; Combat Skills & Crafting The Combat Testing will be in the format of a Warzone. The Dwarf Vs. Oren Warzone from earlier in Vailor has been set up already and you can choose whichever side you will be on when you join the server. You can change sides when you die - no need to feel pressure if you're locked in! When you spawn there will be chests which contain well crafted common gear, e.g. tier 2 iron weapons, iron armor, tier 2 bows, etc.. Additionally, you will be able to use the command "/spawnhorse 12" to spawn in an Aengulic-bred horse if you wish to beta-test with horses (also to be provided will be horse armor.) The goal of the Combat Testing is allow a time for players to experience combat and the state of combat for themselves so that they may gather opinions on it and provide feedback. When beta testing goes live a post will be made for players to respond to with how they feel combat is in 1.9.4 and what need to be adjusted. The Skills & Crafting Testing will be accessed when the player logs on the server in addition to the sides they can choose for combat. When selected they will be teleported to an area with bountiful crafting stations and chests of resources to use for creating items, along with provided skill tomes for fast leveling. There will be collection areas and a warp to a mining world to test gathering professions. There will be a separate post for skills & crafting feedback from the combat post, beta testers will still be expected to make a post on here as well with their opinions on the nature of crafting. Beta testing begins this Saturday, 5/21 and ends next Monday, 5/23. Patch Notes These are the current patchnotes for LotC 4.6.1, subject to change post-beta testing.
