Would be cool if fishers could make bait from the trillions of useless fish they catch, that gave their rods enchants for a while or something.

You could except we all know how reliable it is to need to rely on others. You should be able to be self sufficient to a certain degree - especially since the enchants from bait would be much weaker.
Also enchanters are stupidly rare in my experience.

I think you're right Freya, there did used to be a fishing spear. And I do like your idea, maybe once I'm done tackling crafting changes.
