The Reformation: A Meeting Of Tahariae's Children
Lyuin replied to AndrewTech's topic in Athera Roleplay Archive
~ Lyuin Avern simply listens to the conversations, his expression hidden behind the scarred steel visor of his close helmet. Listening to Katari he nods in agreement as he awkwardly folds his plated-encased arms and takes a precised step forward to speak. "I agree with Katari and Jakir, squabbling is natural but I believe the fact I didn't react to an insult to an Itharel who is still in my eyes family is proof we can all restrain ourselves for the betterment of this meetings outcome." For a moment he glances between the gathered Clerics, his cousin before letting his gaze rest on Mandru. "The position of Grand Vindicator is a difficult one to give. On one hand Cir'dan has a level of martial expertise that surpasses most here. However I have not heard from him in little over a decade therefore his commitment must be questioned. On the other-hand..." The Scholar in Steel hesitates for a moment the eyes set behind the visor flickering briefly to Jakir before he straightens in posture and continues in a curt tone. "On the other-hand, Jakir is a man who is driven by emotion and has previously had ties to an impure entity. We have previously admitted that Tahariae simply wishes to eradicate the impure, therefore I must question the idea of tasking a man with previous ties to organizing our combat operations..." Lyuin sighs, his armored form shifting uncomfortably. "However...I have little idea of who else could fulfill such a role when the latter has been more active than Cir'dan and is still more versed in combat magic than most in the Order." ~ With that he goes to step back before he wavers and turns his helmeted head to his silver-clad cousin. "And you Itharel? Your advise is welcome with me and those wise enough to hear it. Therefore I ask: Who would you have made Grand Vindicator...or least what sort of descendant should take such a position?" -
The Reformation: A Meeting Of Tahariae's Children
Lyuin replied to AndrewTech's topic in Athera Roleplay Archive
Lyuin Avern arrives with curt and calculated steps. An odd rarity for a Mali in plate but one that speaks volumes about his character. Lifting his visor briefly his turquoise eyes peer at Mandru for a brief moment narrowing slightly as they dart between him, the throne and his general surroundings. A moment later he lowers his visor and bows his head before uttering "Afternoon, I trust we've placed the necessary wards?" -
[Closed] Halloween Costume Contest
Lyuin replied to MamaBearJade's topic in News & Announcements Archive
Well Lyuin's wife recently bit the dust...and thus he was acting like a moody little child. Thus when he was told to have some fun, he had an idea to mimic some of those 'Witchers' that had run around before Anthos as well as the similarly named book 'The Witcher' published by an author seeking to entertain audiences. The best part was, he could easily dye his hair white and to make his eyes glow, he'd just channel holy magic! (That's holy magic abuse Lyuin.) -
Lyuin Avern's letter remains closed, the black envelope tucked into one of the many inside pockets of his coat, untouched...aside from perhaps a weathered corner touched by rough hands or stained by tears. It would remain that way for sometime.

Nice cleaning. I was always fearing that some rules would be outdated or the like. (I came in hoping for the rule of majority combat to return but still this is good :D) Now I'm interested about the rest of the steps...

I am Lyuin Avern. I'm the bastard of some bloke I never met but grew up under a man who'd seen an awful lot. His family had been torn to pieces in Aegis and he had spent his life under a haze of whiskey regretting what he couldn't do due to curse and loss (Yes, that was my first character.) I am different, I shan't be stopped...I have achieved so much in so little time...I have spent decades with the Mali'aheral, fought stone drakes with the chosen of Xan and Tahariae. My own cousin became the Itharel of Judgement and I too shall do something great. Though I may not be the strongest...I may not have the makings of a Hero...I shall fight...and perhaps in time...people shall be inspired by the weak man who stood up to Iblees.

The Eternal Librarian -Lyuin Avern -
Lyuin Avern hears the news from the idle talk of others. Furrowing his brow, his folds his arms before mumbling "Bollocks."

Awesomesauce

Lyuin Avern raises his visor to quickly read over the poster and it's reply. He then murmurs "Most Clerics believe in the Creator...otherwise we wouldn't have Aenguls..."
-
And what of Clerical magics? They don't use the void but it is magic?

Lyuin Avern is in the arms of Lenia. Like most days he was thinking, Lenia's instability was odd. Right now the only things that concerned him was her mental state rather than the overcast skies that had come with it. It was at that moment Lyuin felt an alien feeling. A backlash of the mind that told him something was very wrong. Clinging to Lenia for a brief moment with a vice-like grip he sat, teeth on edge. He struggled to maintain the calm etiquette associated with the Mali'aheral as a great pain swept through his mind. Then it was gone. He clung tighter to Lenia, the idea of what had happened was simple but fairly accurate. Something had gone terribly, terribly wrong. (Clerics prepare your light, we just got our job back :D )

In fairness this could make some good trivial Rp. Especially if the Haunts are being used for ulterior motives...
-
Lyuin Avern learnt of the mutilated body and the Elven ears to go with it in a day. Narrowing his eyes as he tries to repress such memories from his mind he quietly mutters "Mali'aheral ears may be work of the Irehearts...as for the Mali'ker....I'm not sure. Mali'fenn working them?" Slowly he rolls his shoulders before quietly adding "Or...perhaps neither of those things...such an act is too obvious. Maybe something more sinister."

((Taken directly from the Imperial Infantryman's handbook...which took it from the book: Cadian Blood?)) ((Other than that...good to see the Rose is back.))

Honestly back when RP lore was more relaxed, I was somewhat ok with it...That was when I was a new player. Soon I started enjoying giving my character an edge in certain situations by actually implementing knowledge from the real world. Perhaps that's simply because I prefer seeing the underdog win in some situations... However when lore was a lot more relaxed, I'd have people attempting to crush my character's neck with one-hand. Perhaps if they were a large Olog that makes sense lore wise... However this was a super-breed Mali' with glowing eyes and a bunch of made up relaxed 'lore' that coupled with powergaming allowed them to be unstoppable. Sure, it's easy to blame the powergaming but the limits of the characters are lost as soon as one allows folk to step into unknown territory without the others around them being educated in said unknown territory. I often believe a character's specialty should be related to their RP purpose. You shouldn't get Bob the friendly hellspawn, with all the powers of something super evil but actually he's nice and handsome. If Bob wants to be a hellspawn, he's there to ruin your day and has been given permission by higher ups that he won't just use this to get his/her way. My other fear would be people using the lore relaxation to just 'be better' than the guy next to him. "I' want to be a War Cleric but I'm not a fan of Tahariae. Rather than trying to find an agreement...I'm going to make my own Patron who is 10x more powerful than Tah' because it makes sense to me..." From there it can escalate as suddenly things go crazy....

((MC Name:)) huwbert98 Name: Lyuin Avern Age: 54 Gender: Male Origins of your birth: Malinor, Asulon. (Unfortunately...) How long have you resided with the blessed Mali’aheral? I came to Tahn'siol perhaps a decade ago. Why do you wish to become a citizen of our cihi? The very idea that I wouldn't wish to do so is rather illogical. The walls provide safety and I have both a right and a duty to reside among our people rather than the lesser races. How can you declare you are Mali'thill? I am the child of Mali'aheral parents who were born in Laurelin. I have already resided within Haelun'or...thus I believe that proof enough. What does maehr'sae hiylun'ehya mean to you? It is the basis for our people. It allows us to thrive and reach skywards so to speak. Without it, we may be seen as one of the lesser races. What is your personal vision for our blessed race? That we should continue to thrive and grow as a race. Progressing in the sciences and expanding on our culture. These aspects will bring happiness to our people. I also wish to see more Mali'aheral and thus strive to start a family. Are there any other details about yourself you wish to relay to the mali’aheral? Example: professions and positions. I am a scholar of the Arcane arts. However, I have only chosen to study the theory rather than practice it at the current time.

Isaac Baelish sighs upon hearing the news. His brow furrowed as he neatly folds the parchment and places it in his pocket. "Seems more people know about the situation now...and if what this Archdruid is true, we need to speed up the search. It is Tahariae's will that we strike evil from this World." With that he goes to inform any Clerics of Tahariae he may find.
-
Isaac Baelish listens to the many Clerics converse before shuddering at the myth told to the group. "This may...sound insane but...should we open the Portal? If this legend turned out to be true and like the Nether Portal in Aegis it contains evil...then won't we be dooming the World? Are we strong enough?" He shudders before continuing. "I gave my word I would venture forth but how do we know we will win? If we don't, the four races will follow and most likely be destroyed. Furthermore, why are we the only ones expected to venture forth? If this is a difficult task surely all the races would be called upon." He glances to Mandru before asking with a tone of unease. "Is there...any way Patron's can disguise themselves as other Aenguls? I doubt Tahariae would march us to our doom but surely I am not the only one who wonders what is behind the portal?"
-
Narrows his eyes at the newcomers before taking to the center of the group and announcing "I suppose we best begin now, otherwise we'll be waiting all night." He takes a moment to look to each gathered member before beginning curtly. "As many of you have learnt or may personally know, the Patron of Purity, Tahariae recently greeted the Clerics with a set of visions and a message. Whilst usually they may only contact the Itharel or the Master Clerics, Tahariae chose to spread the message to multiple Clerics. Thus I believe it's safe to deduce this matter is of utmost importance." He allows silence to remain for a moment before he continues. "The Patron has told us of a 'Portal' and/or a landmass that is within the proximity of this realm...As expected Tahariae's guidance is that of purity and the cleansing of taint and evil. The Patron requests we venture unto this place and cleanse it of evil." "This task is one of extreme importance and shall not be easy. Thus I request we have the full support of those here and their associates. I also request we have a briefing at a later date and at a secure location...I have probably missed something out...so someone of the older generation of Clerics, fill in the gaps." Nodding once he steps backwards, waiting for another more wise Cleric to take the center.
-
Isaac glances to the armored figure, turning his head to face her as he self-consciously places a hand on the dirk that sits at the back of his belt. With his free hand, he gestures to her then the rest of the group systematically. "Seems there is more than one armored Cleric here." He smirks relaxing his grip on the dirk. "Perhaps we should form a club...what is your name?"
-
Isaac pauses for a moment before tilting his head in Haruki's direction. A seemingly awkward movement from a man in plate. "I'm guessing this makes you Haruki? Our Patron mentioned to me that you had also had these visions. I wouldn't be surprised if many of us have." He pauses for a moment before simply stating. "Whilst we wait we should place wards, or have we already done that?"
-
The armoured form of Isaac Baelish, face hidden behind the visor of his close helmet trudges up the hill. The various plates grinding against each other to announce his arrival. Slowly he glances to each of the assembled, nodding to each of them in turn. "I apologize for being late. I assume this is urgent?"

Isaac glances to Jakir curtly. "Like usual we often run in blindly, I suggest we have a briefing of sorts before the rescue attempt. Explain what to do in certain events, the marching order and desired equipment and tactics that follow." He pauses for a moment before adding. "I suspect a trap. So pray your plate is strong and your mettle is stronger."
