  4. ANNOUNCEMENT OF THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE BARONY OF CASTELORENA 24th Tobias’ Bounty, 1906 The Banks of the Sansretour Artist’s rendition of the Barony of Castelorena, 1906 It is with great pleasure to announce that the holdings for the House of Galbraith have officially been completed within the Kingdom of Balian. Praises and prayers to St. Waldo that the barony was constructed in such a short time once it began. During construction it was discovered that the hillside is rich with gems, especially rubies. Dubbed the Galbraith Red Rose Ruby, it is hoped that this becomes one of the main exports of the family into the near future. The Lord to be Carles Galbraith invites all to see the small pocket of beauty that House Galbraith now calls home. Constructed in a homage to old Rivia combined with the new Balianite architecture, the Barony of Castelorena is a sight to see. Cypress trees, colourful flowers, shrubs and even wild boar populate the hillside making the barony a picturesque location. The Lord to be also invites any miners that wish to settle in the barony to work in the ruby mine. Praised be the Saints and GOD be with you all. Carles Galbraith 24th Tobias’ Bounty, 1906
  5. THE DAY OF CONFESSORS A day of public confession and charity within the Kingdom of Balian Crusader Kings 2: Hymns of Revelation- Deus Misere Painting: "The Charity of Eggs" inspired by the events of St. Noah of Petrus. Teodosio Cardinal Tyria hereby invites those faithful of Balian and across Almaris to join in a day of public piety in honour of St. Noah of Petrus. The day will serve as an understanding of the life of St. Noah as well performing virtuous acts of charity and penance. The divulges of the confessors The day will begin with the faithful gathering with the Basilica la Sorella in a moment of prayer before venturing into the streets of Atrus as a congregation to publicly confess their sins to themselves, each other and before GOD for all to see. The aim is not to embarrass each other but to foster the sense of community as the faithful of GOD that everyone sins in one form or another and though you should not feel ashamed when asking for forgiveness from GOD. The charity of eggs It is told that a starving family’s father prayed to St. Noah whilst confessing his sins and the next day he found his hens had produced dozens of eggs. In homage to this miracle performed, it is encouraged that those attending the festivities bring eggs, egg based products, egg based treats to provide for the poor. The Cardinal will hold a collection point for those to donate their goods once the divulges of the confessors has concluded. In honour of the Syndic The Syndic holds power much like a traditional Mayor within the city of Atrus. St. Noah was elected Mayor of Petrus and served in that role virtuously and proudly to his people. In appreciation for the work that the Syndic and Vice-Syndic does for the city, a drink will be held in the local tavern. Toasts by the people in appreciation for their work will be shouted aloud for all to hear. This day of festivities will occur on the 14th Godfrey's Triumph, 1907. Teodosio Cardinal Tyria Bishop of Tyria Interim Auditor of the Tribunal
  6. THE MERRY HAPPENINGS OF CARDINAL TEODOSIO A collection of stories from the many events organized by the Cardinal Teodosio Crusader Kings II OST - In Taberna The noted Curia member and Cardinal Teodosio of Tyria currently serves as the Bishop of Atrus. A known Epulonist, he ministers his faith through active service, often hosting great fetes and feasts for both rich and poor alike. Excerpts from his works can be found below, documented to demonstrate the community and fraternity of the Canonist flock. An artist's painting of the feast of St. Robert. THE FEAST OF ST. ROBERT On the 12th Sun’s Smile 1903, the people of Balian, commoners, nobility and the royalty alike gathered in the Basilica La Sorella for the Feast of St. Robert. The guests of the Cardinal were well fed with heartlander steaks, Ruskan lamb kebabs, sourdough bread and the finest of olives from the groves of the Abbey of St. Daniel I. As the feast began, talks soon converged onto the topic of the patron saint of the feast. Poetry was first on the agenda, the Cardinal explaining how St. Robert was a foremost poet of the seventeenth century and made many numerous well known poems. At this point the Cardinal stated, "He made a poem about a fat monk, ironic considering his girth." The guests chuckled and soon began to speak of when does eating become gluttony and greed. This conversation sparked the interest of the Canonists assembled around the table, and many insights were shared. The debate soon reached the conclusion that greed and gluttony emerge when such consumption is made at the expense of others. After such a serious discussion, the table livened as Sarson Halgrim gave his attempt at a humorous poem that he learned after dealing with a maudlin bard in his travels. "Roses are red, That much is true, Violets are violets, Not f***ing blue." The guests soon bursted into laughter, the Cardinal spitting out his wine out all over his food. The feast was brought to great spirits by our dark elven friend. The topic of the inquisition was next, given the patronage of St. Robert and soon the conversation delved into the wicked acts of the Inferni and Azdrazi, as well as commendations for the present inquisition’s skill in defeating a frost witch in Karosgrad. However, as more children began to attend the table, the topic was quickly pushed aside. The people continued to speak amongst themselves and the feast slowly came to an end. One guest went home pleased, stuffed with meats and wine, "I think I’ve learned a fair deal of what it means to be like St. Robert today." Till the next time, where another feast shall be held! Teodosio Cardinal Tyria
  7. BALIAN MARRIAGE CUSTOMS Transcribed by Teodosio Cardinal Tyria Depiction of a Canonist wedding Marriage is an important aspect of the Canonist faith and is one of the most holy sacraments that can be performed. As described in the Scroll of Virtue, “I made for you the worldly pleasures, so too have I made the pleasures of the spirit, and the love of the husband and wife.” It is important that all the tenants of the canticle of temperance are followed and uphold regarding the Canon's law of marriage. Within the years of Balian’s founding there have been many cultural changes to the order of the sacred ceremony of matrimony. In Balian culture the sacrament of matrimony is also called the Holy Mystery of Crowning. There are three distinct differences within a Balian marriage. The Procession: The bride is not accompanied down the aisle by her Father but instead the groom and bride proceed down the aisle hand in hand. By entering together the couple cross over the threshold of the church as equal partakers in their unfolding mystery of love. The focus is on the couple coming together under GOD but not the bride or groom individually. There are no bridesmaids or groomsmen. Instead the couple are followed by two witnesses holding symbols of GOD, either large crosses, paintings of saints etc that will hold a prominent place in the couple’s home to serve as a reminder of the sacred day. Crowning: Once the vows have been spoken the couple are crowned with either wreaths or crowns of jewels. The price and extravagance of the crown does not matter but the symbol. The crowns are to symbolise the honoured martyrs who shed their blood and gave their lives for GOD. The crown is the prize of marriage, a crown of sacrifice and self-giving. Common Cup: During the service before the vows the couple are offered a glass of wine. The wine is used to symbolise the blood that runs through Balianite veins but also to symbolise the future bitter and sweet moments of life the couple will share together.

  14. THE FALL OF OUR FATHERS Remembrance of those lost in the Brother's War Depiction of Balian citizens flocking their way to church for service. On each tenth year after the Brother's War, a celebration in memory of the fallen forefathers of what became Balian shall take place. This celebration not only celebrates their sacrifice towards what they believed to be right by God but in prayer for their souls within the Seven skies. 15. Fr. Teodosio hears news of another order dedicating itself to saints, sighing and muttering to himself, "Just because teu dedicate thyself to a Saint doesn't mean there are GODly pious virtuous intentions. Hardly a time to make such orders when humanity is bent on killing itself once again..."
  16. The Passing of Old Ire Odin hobbles through the quiet morning streets and levels of Kal'Darakaan. He takes his time to look around, chuckling to himself of old times. Times that he can barely remember in continents of old. But there a shudder, a flicker of shadow to his sides. "Beh gune yer foul flippin' def lingurin spawn!" Odin pants, his forehead sweating profusely. He finds himself cornered in a dark alley, sinking himself to the ground. He knew what was coming. He had tried to evade it for so long. He knew Dungrimm would soon take him and he would be able to finally join his brothers in Khaz'a'dentrumm. He knew his faith and tenants he took all those years ago to Dungrimm, well remembers most of it. He just wanted to see more and continue seeing more but that time was short. So he picked himself up from the floor peering out from the alley to see if the dark spirits had gone. He took one last glance at the city and left for the wilderness. He will let Dungrimm finally take him.

  20. "The man was a chronic sinner and deviant of our faith. Despite what the Bishop's told me about Cassio and Asher they obviously lied. As the two were still together days after apparently they were separated. There was a reason I didn't give him his last rites nor I hope he gets a Canonist burial. Judgement of his sins finally caught up with him," Fr. Teodosio mutters to himself.
