It is no secret that the human nations are well overdue for a Social Season! I have certainly not seen mention of one in my twenty summers and, while I do not plan to debut, I certainly look forward to what is on offer. But what is a Social Season? Typically, these events are constructed to guide our generation into friendships and partnerships. An official debut is held first, to begin the festivities. Those who have signed up- who can be from anywhere within the realm- will dress in their finest and introduce themselves to the gathering. Following this, a year long of themed events. Hunts and picnics, tourneys- and to conclude the year, a formal ball. One particular note to make is the significance of flowers within this year. Bouquets and single flowers, all of which hold their own meaning, will be on sale throughout the year. This writer encourages attendants to make use of these flowers- and to properly research their meaning! As for attendees- who are they? Well, you will just have to wait, dear readers. Though I will say- we are expecting at least two royal debuts of our own this season. With the recent coming of age of the Prince Elianos and the Princess Ophelia, it is safe to say that the whole of Balian is excited to see their youngest royals debut to the world. Many were left empty or lacking which left for Portoregne’s shopping experience to fall short. Now, it seems, with some hard graft from its citizens, these stalls appear to be on the rise. A third of the marketplace has been redesigned- with a new lease of life breathed into it. Gone are the clunky displays and in their place, elegant structures with vibrant hues decorating their canopies sit ready for the taking. It seems to have worked-! One reported that the caravan was filled with hay- just what was happening down there? Suspicion rose, and the people of Balian began to convene and rally in preparation for something. Murders of crows squaked and called- crying out over the otherwise blissful blue skies of the south. Many sought shelter within their homes and keeps. Those brave enough ventured to these meetings, clad in plate and with weapons at the ready. And then it began. An assault upon the keep of St’ Lothar. Balian attacked the creatures which threatened their home and their safety. --------------------------------------- The keep was taken- its gate smoldering to the ground. A battle which lasted for Saints Hours tore both the keep and the Balianese ashred, and many countrymen were lost to the attackers. The Watchman. A creature of foul origins; a scarecrow which commanded the attack upon the keep with its vile minions was rendered unconscious by Dame Gwenyth Vuiller, and is currently awaiting a trial to decide its fate. --------------------------------------- We extend a prayer to all who were lost to the battle. The celebration is set to be held within the Palace’s private beach- with the promise of dancing, food and games to celebrate the gifts of the south. Fresh seafood and locally made wines will be on offer, with fruit cocktails for the younger attendees. Residents of Balian are welcome to join- they are asked to ensure their attire is suited for the heat and the sands, and reminded to bring a mask! Citizens are encouraged to reach out to Cosima Victoria Temesch should they wish their stories or business be featured within the next release of the tabloid.

La mascarada del regal de l'oceà [20th April, 5pm EST] To this year but eighteen ago, Balian saw the arrival of its youngest Prince and Princess, Elianos and Ophelia. The youths have spent their years surrounded with the lush sands and vibrant seas of the south, and wish to extend a celebration to not only honor their home, but to usher in their adult years. A Masquerade - on the theme of sand and sea - is to be held within the Palace’s enclosed beach. Guests are encouraged to bring their finest sandals and lighter outfits, to ensure they are comfortable in the heat. Should guests not be able to provide their own masks for the ball, the twins have some ready to provide. Following the ball will be games; a paper boat race and a fishing contest, with prizes for the winners. Refreshments will be offered which feature the local fishermen's finest catches of the day, with drinks produced from Balians orchards and wineries. Attendees are welcome to wear the masks provided for the ball. Each mask has been lovingly recreated from inspired works throughout the ages. (Masks can be found on planetminecraft in their original versions. These are recreated based on examples.)
