Yes. The energy from it would heat up the plate. But it would be that killing until you had melted the armor and making a new better path for the electrons to travel.
A suit of armor, while able to act as a faraday cage, would still probably inflict burns on the victim upon being struck. Even moreso with streams of electricity, and I am unsure if chainmail would be any different.
