How are things... haven't looked on here in a long while. Also I realise now that I never did get Aether status on the forums. Not that it matters too much now

What a wonderful surprise to see you around again Blundermore! Sure I’ll set you up with that Aether rank that you’re supposed to have, strange… anyway I hope you are doing well. You’re always welcome back in here. ?
I haven’t really been able to come on the server due to events that happened in game really, and I just don’t have the drive to start a new character once he’s gone, if he’s gone... though the staff seem hell bent on making sure he stays gone.

I believe there are settings within notification chat that specifically disables getting update responses from statuses if you click on the notification tab and click notification settings. I've turned most of them off so I couldn't tell you which one specifically does it unfortunately. @TeaLulu

Also all this time I've been talking about groups that are actively lawful good or neutral and wouldn't go out of their way to break the law, the problem gets even more complex when talking about criminal organisations, Dark cults, Secret societies and dark creatures etc. What about them? They can't really buy a house in a city and not expect to be harassed every time they step out onto their front door step.
Though icly yes a nation should be actively trying to clamp down on criminal elements within their cities and the likes because that's a natural progression of societies in general, oocly speaking if a nation wants these people in their cities they're going to have to make special concessions to make sure that they meet the requirements for these people to want to live here. Like maybe a sewer hideout with a secret way in and out of the city for example so that thieves can actively rp in your city and have a "guild hall" within it, and just having an ooc agreement that the thieves won't actively try to screw everything up all the time by being silly and stealing at every single opportunity whilst at the same time the guards will actively try to crack down on it whilst not going far enough to stem the source of the issue, i.e. the guild hall.

Perhaps nations should attempt to make themselves more hospitable for people to want to live in them... I mean the fact so many people choose to live away from nations to the point nation cities are having trouble keeping up activity checks and the likes suggests that the way that nation is managing its settlements or what it is doing is a detriment to itself and the people who want to live there.
Nations ultimately, are in charge of attracting attention to themselves. Where's the incentive to live in a nation if all that nation is doing is treating you as a number on an activity check list and then otherwise screwing with players that live in their cities because they can.
In the real world, the responsibility for generating interest in say a shop for example so that people want to come and shop there falls entirely upon the shop owners to provide incentive for people to want to be there. They go out of their way to find products that are relevant and people will like whilst actively providing things like sales and loyalty schemes to keep people wanting to come back there again and again.
If a shop isn't doing well, it's not the fault of the customers not wanting to shop there, it's the fault of the business model not adapting to changing circumstances in order to better appeal to the market and compete with their competitors. Which is essentially what is going on between the nations all the time, attempting to appeal to certain demographics in order to attract a "customer base" or in this case, citizens, to actively want to come there and spend time there. But I mean you can't force the creation of an RP hub point, you've gotta put the effort in to actively pull people in.
Maybe players are actively avoiding certain nations because of what those nations are specifically doing quite often, that and well, nation RP doesn't appeal to everyone naturally, but actively trying to force it down peoples throats and telling them to like it is just going to result in people moving further away from places like that because really if a shop owner came up to you to go back to the example, and put a gun to your head and said "SHOP HERE. SHOP HERE. DON'T GO ANYWHERE ELSE. SHOP HERE ONLY OR ELSE I'LL SEND MY BOYS TO COME MURDER YOU IN YOUR HOME WHILE YOU SLEEP" your first thought wouldn't be "gee, I really want to shop here, I really want to continue having this wonderful experience I am having" No, your first thought is going to be attempting to get out of that situation as quickly as possible, calling the police and then /NEVER/ shopping there again.Crux of the matter, forcing people to pair up with nations for the sakes of doing so is bad, nations need to actively provide reasons for people to want to be there and must accept the fact that if they're not appealing to certain demographics then they're just not going to attract those people. It's not snowflakism or anything the like it's just basic consumerism. Provide an appealing product, people will come.

It's also really difficult for neutral guilds to build within a nation. Because building in a nation alone often makes people think you're "choosing favorites" or something and it actively hurts the whole guild because other nations start exluding you from their RP.
You want us in your cities yet you don't want us in specific cities and if we do go to those cities we are branded with the ignore stamp immediately.
You just can't really win can you?

nations quite often than not seem quite restrictive to guilds, and unless you're good friends with that nation you can't really rest easy knowing that you could be evicted at a moment's notice if something changes or one outlier from your guild accidentally breaks a law and the nation blames the whole guild for it.
It would be great to live in nations but the fact of the matter is a lot of nations around at the moment are just not guild friendly, and those that are impose pretty heavy restrictions such as only being allowed to build in a certain manner, only being allowed an allotted space that is often quite small, being charged through the roof to stay there and quite often than not being subjected to guards that more or less attempt to treat you like **** and walk all over you at every opportunity.
Being able to build away from nations has the advantage that you're not going to end up paying for the mistakes of a nation leader going to war against a nation they cannot win against for example and then losing their city and thus the guild loses their plot in the process. That and you get to have control of the build style and how exactly you may build, you only need to worry about raiders and activity checks etc.
Right now as it stands living in a nation is just not a very attractive prospect, and I see this argument that "Nations should be focal points of rp you should all stick together with us for rp" if that's the case then make it worth the while of these player groups to be there. Don't just say "Don't build outside a nation or else you're a scrubmonger" or some crap.

I like how everyone says in a straight up magic only fight a holy mage would beat a dark mage. Dark mages have void magic, which holy does not stop.
?????
-
Also because there's like 30 different types of dark magic or creatures or groups present, quite a few that Holy magic cannot actually affect anyways, then they can mix these different dark magics and creatures together, then they can mix in voidal magic as well.
Yet apparently Dark magic is the underpowered element here according to some people? Also the amount of dark magics that simply have an event style 'win button' where they can just cast a massive spell and win and there's nothing the holy magic users can do about it either. Siege level spells and rituals that holy magic simply does not have any sort of counter to because we're constantly getting held back by staff teams that would rather make sure we can't do anything past play vs play interactions.
A lot of what holy magic is simply isn't creative, but the problem is any time we try to add any sort of creativity to it we're met with "This dark magic already does that". It gets quite difficult coming up with new an interesting things that are also unique and not taken by another magic or creature or group when dark magic is so heavily stacked in the different varieties of it.

My comment wasn't a jab at the Ascended or anything, just open idle thought. OOC often seeps into RP far too often, so it wasn't a far fetched idea. Sorry about that, friend.

We take a very harsh view on our members harassing, bullying, or oocly circlejerking someone beyond the realms of it being "just a joke". Be it EX. Ascended or general players. If you happen to ever find one of our number doing so please do screenshot it and send it to me or jallentime or JCquiinn. We'd be glad to inspect what you have to show.

Apologies for grapple hooks not seeming to work at all today, it seems I mixed up two values in the code. Should be fixed after the next restart!

Blundy keeps spamming the Anti-Ascended circle jerk time meme but they do the same thing to literally everyone/thing

Who made magic and fantasy literally cannon in lotc?!?!?!

Can't believe we won that fight against the undead, I thought they'd have us after the 20 histghulls and 1000+ morghuls all being spawned at once.
Those 30 odd liches and the 200 odd witherskelletons on poisoned spiders as well, that was a scare...
If I had anything to add as a review for the undead mobs it's that spawning too many of them in and causing a fight to last for 1 hour and 40 minutes at least was maybe a little too much.
