  1. Greetings, lovely members of Lord of the Craft. Today I would like to make a rule clarification on PvP default. As many know, the change to PvP default was very recent, and we are still ironing out some wrinkles. However, many people are either uninformed of the protocol that must be followed or are simply ignoring it. I was urged to create this post due to viewing it myself, and I hope I can clarify some of the confusion surrounding this process. Both of you must agree to the type of fighting you're using - PVP or RP fighting. If you can't agree, PVP is default. Before commencing a PVP fight, you must roleplay the leading up to it, and you must also make the other player aware before you attack - e.g. an emote. The above bullet point is an excerpt from the official rules page of Lord of the Craft. However, many players have been ignoring the "make the other player aware before you attack" part, and they simply say "PvP default" and attack. This is not only against the rules, but it will also get you swiftly banned from the server. I witnessed it happen today at a wedding in Abresi, and I hope that this thread will prevent it from happening again in the future. Both sides must agree to the form of combat used (if they cannot agree then it defaults to fighting with MC mechanics), and both sides must confirm that they are ready. Additionally, a countdown from 5 seconds is required to ensure that each party is aware of when the battle begins. You cannot begin the countdown until both sides have agreed on the form of combat to use and whether they are ready or not. I hope this clarification will alleviate any confusion that surrounded this topic. Have a great day! Edit: Another slight clarification: Saying "Mina or die" is not considered sufficient RP. You must roleplay a few lines of text beforehand that lead up to the combat scenario.
  2. As I have stated numerous times already, no new Event Team applications have been accepted recently because we hit a number we were comfortable with. On top of that, I was dealing with main antagonist reforms and other duties as well. However, we will be accepting 1-2 new members this week.

  5. Greetings, citizens of Lord of the Craft! I recently finished converting the upper layers of Malinor's canopy to green wool. Together with Freya's assistance, the canopy should cause Malinor to be a lot less laggy in most areas. It was a time consuming process, but I hope it was worth the work involved. While you will notice the green wool in many areas, most of the bottom sections of the canopy still consists of leaves. It was a visual sacrifice that we had to make in order to accomplish our goal. Let us know if our efforts have decreased the lag in Malinor!
  6. The battle took place on August 3rd. This thread is no longer relevant.

  8. Just for the record, the antagonist side did not use any buffs, enchants, or effects. If anything, the "good" side had buffs (brews). I'm simply tired of hearing from people that the antagonist used buffs.

Yeah, honestly not everything has to be fair. So long you guys don't just turn godmode on I for one will be fine with just about any buff.

  9. Because the playerbase would have certainly enjoyed losing to 15 players buffed with Resistance 4, Strength 4, and Regen 4, right? *Sarcasm* Thank you. Fixed.
  10. Innumerable soldiers stand lined up outside the bridge gate that leads to Castle Greywynn. Able-bodied combatants from the four corners of Anthos ready themselves for the oncoming battle. Humans, orcs, dwarves, elves and kharajyr fill the ranks of the brave defenders that aim to guard Anthos' lands from the dark evil within and beyond the North. Shortly after the united races shout their taunts and insults toward the eerily quiet castle, an army of mutated, corrupted beings begin to flood out from across the bridge. Grotesque, behemoth mounds of walking flesh stand tall above the small, pitiful grunts of the horde. Roars and outcries echo from within the hoard's ranks, a mix of screeches and low voices. The two mighty orc chiefs, Wargoth Pok'Ugluk and Huntzgoth Wulgehn Lur, step forward in front of their fierce warriors. The King of the dwarves, Grand King Thorin Grandaxe, marches to the front lines. The three stand side by side, ready to exact revenge. Pok'Ugluk begins to speak. Pok: "Corrupted! Step forward and face death before my axe! Your death will be swift -- I will rip your limbs into pieces! It is your time, face us now or we will destroy you all! Before Wulgehn Lur and Thorin Grandaxe could express their demands, a deep, harsh voice makes its way out of the horde of tainted foot soldiers. A dark, dreadful figure emerges from the crowd, facing toward the three leaders. Setherien, the Dark Master: "Fools. You dare march upon my land, upon my fortress? When my minions are finished with devouring your flesh, I will command your petty souls to serve for an eternity. March forward heroes, for you are marching into the jaws of hell.” A dead silence loomed over the stagnant night. Frightening moans and shrieks filled the atmosphere as the mutated horrors restlessly awaited their feast. Shortly after Setherien finished his speech, a loud tremor quaked the earth below the two armies. A massive Shurr'Dru ascended skyward, exploding from the corrupted soil below Setherien. The Dark Master seemingly appeared consumed whole from the jaws of the giant beast. A loud gasp escaped the mouths of the brave heroes, echoing across the plains. The giant Shurr'Dru continued to ascend toward the heavens, the earth trembling as the colossal worm tunneled through it. Before long, the immense beast started to screech in agony, writhing and twisting throughout the atmosphere. A large, red glow began to appear inside the center of the Shurr'Dru's stomach, and Setherien bursted out from within. Adhesive liquid poured out from the gaping hole, and Setherien erupted forth as a huge dragon. Though it did not appear as a normal dragon. It resembled the appearance of a drake, but the size of a Dragaar. Roughly five times the size of a normal dragon or drake, it was a true behemoth. A colossal titan. Setherien: "Foolish mortals, do you take me for an imbecile? None shall stand in my path! After hovering high above the races, the Drakaar began to fly toward Castle Greywynn. He landed down between a large breach in the fort's wall, crushing the already destroyed stone to dust. Setherien: “Come forth, heroes. Come forth and die.” He began to watch as the two mighty forces clashed into a blur of bloodshed. The mighty heroes hacked and slashed almost effortlessly through the corrupted's weakly reinforced plate armor; the combined forces of the four races overwhelmed their attempts at defending. The open plains were quickly overrun by the heroic races, and the abominations were forced to retreat across their bridge, slashing at its supports along the way. Though it was not enough to hold back the heroes' determination. They would not settle for victory until each of them had suffered from the gift of death. Anthos' heroes quickly marched their troops across the bridge, and they continued to duel against the dark forces. Watching as his horde became overwhelmed, Setherien commanded his chief lieutenants to fall back. The remaining Hiishtgul and the Gathiisht obeyed their master and fled toward the depths of the North. Setherien: "You have won a feeble victory this day, mortals. I will exact my revenge on your puny cities and sanctuaries. I will drag your pitiful bodies into the depths of the North, into the darkest of caves myself! And when you believe that the light has come to save you, my shadow will devour it whole." Setherien breathed a torrent of consuming flames toward his opponents, and then flew toward the gate of the North. With one swift strike of his tail, the gate crumbled into mere fragments. The massive Drakaar then continued his retreat, returning to the howling depths of the frigid North. The battlefield lay in ruins of its former self. The courtyard and structural defenses of Castle Greywynn destroyed even further than when the tainted first attacked the Teutonic Order. The Glurtzfolok's corpses were scattered across the land -- Setherien's minions unable to gather and heal the dead bodies. The Cloud Temple monks arrived soon after to gather the dead for reviving, but noticed that the corrupted remains were still present. Having not been presented with the opportunity in the past, they attempted to heal and rejuvenate the tainted body and mind. They managed to successfully heal many, but some were simply too far gone. Those that were healed bore scars and some deformities that could not be regenerated. Few managed to be restored wholly, and those that did still suffered from nightmares and blurred memories. The ranks of the Glurtzfolok -- the Kambasor, Kalus, Zongot, and Rog-Votak -- were effectively healed and removed from Setherien's grasp. Their will fully restored. (While this may confuse many players, all will be revealed soon. As I said, this battle was meant to act as a catalyst for change within the main antagonist, and it is certainly being changed. More info soon). Hope had been restored to the mortal races. Aruzond's advice had been heard; the mortal races finally united under one force. The corruption slowly began to deteriorate within the Druid's Grove, and the dark taint dwelling in Castle Greywynn was gradually fading. But the war wasn't over. Somewhere far, far below the icy earth of the North, a meeting commences. Hooded figures gather around a dusty, stone table. The room is dark, and a small lantern is lit in the center. The shadowy forms take their seats, and their leader sits down at the head of the table. One of the shadow-like beings that goes by the name of Orithur begins to speak through telepathy. "The Undead have taught them how to retaliate against us. We do not stand a chance against their combined forces." Mortum'Vherzix scowls, "Nonsense! That castle was worthless, I say let them have it! We will strike back and show them true power." The group of hooded shadows trade looks and then gaze toward their leader. Vak'thuul shakes his head in discontent, breaking the silence, "The mortal races are truly pitiful creatures. We will present them with a gift; a taste of His power." He withdraws an ancient tome from within his robes. Numerous unknown symbols are scattered across the tome's cover. "If we cannot strike against their walls, we will strike them from within."
  11. Greetings, lovely community. The following is OOC information regarding the upcoming battle against the main antagonist, 1 hour and a half from now. As I have stated many times recently, the upcoming battle will be used as a catalyst for change within the main antagonist. The changes are effectively an entire overhaul of the antagonist, and many members that have had the privilege of reading the document can support these claims. I have taken into consideration all of the community's feedback, and I hope I can deliver. Without further ado, let's get onto the details. When I was first informed of Pok's plans, I was instantly intrigued. I knew that I wanted the battle to not only be memorable, but also a monumental moment on Lord of the Craft. In order to achieve this goal, I knew that the battle had to contain the same elements that we use during events. It is, in a way, going to be an "event battle." It is in no way, shape or form a scripted battle, but there are a couple of scripted elements that you must be aware of in order for it to work. For those that will be involved in the battle (whether on the "evil" or "good" side), you must know that there is a small opening scene that will play out before the battle (the clicky clicky part) begins. You will likely be informed by your military leader (as I have already spoken with the nation leaders), but I will go over the guidelines anyways. 1. Before the battle officially begins, both sides will be lined up (facing each other) outside of Castle Greywynn. The "evil" side will be on corrupted land, and the "good" side will be on the non-corrupted land. 2. Pok, Mingpow, and possibly Meanking will step forward to represent their forces. Please follow along and just watch what goes down. 3. While this is all taking place, please refrain from spamming the chat with useless emotes. Don't think it will be useless? Don't say it anyways. I'm not saying this to be rude, but we want to keep the chat as "empty" as possible so that emotes are clearly visible. If you are found to be spamming the chat, we will not hesitate to remove you from the battle. Please remain respectful and tasteful in your words if you decide to taunt when the battle has begun. OOC jokes (players yelling "Fus ro dah!" and such) will not be tolerated. 4. Furthermore, please refrain from running around out of line before the battle begins. Keep in line (or if your forces are in a group, stay within that group), and do not run forward to spam click the "evil" side before the battle has begun. We don't want to ruin this event, so I request that everyone cooperates for this to be successful. Again, I emphasize that this battle is not scripted, but the opening sequence will be loosely scripted (to keep structure). Simply follow along and enjoy the battle! For those that happen to miss the emotes and what not, an RP post will be posted after the war.
  12. Races may be created for Event Team purposes, but new races are currently not being accepted (even if they are small scale). While I do not yet have an answer regarding the possibility of the Undead or Ascended returning at full scale, I do know that there are a very small handful of players that currently play each race. These are characters that survived past events and have managed to live in secrecy. Whether or not anything actually comes to fruition is up to the players of these characters.
  13. This will be discussed in the upcoming GM meeting, and we are in the process of discussing our course of action on the staff forums as well. Do not fear, action is being taken; I'll make sure of it. :)
  14. Greetings, Lord of the Craftians! I am sure we can all agree that this has been one heck of an eventful month, but I am confident that we have a bright future ahead of us. While we lost a small handful of members earlier on in the month, we have also gained some back. Anyhow, the purpose of this post is not to dwell on the past, but to look towards the future. And that future is certainly promising. Many positive changes are in motion, and I am convinced that this will be a fresh start for our community. One of these changes is our new Head of Lore. With Mogroka's departure, Alan (aka Rittsy) is now in charge of lore. He is certainly the whiz in this department, and it only makes sense for the Head of the Lore Team to be the Head of Lore itself. Don't forget to congratulate Alan the next time you see him! Speaking of Alan, he has also been working tirelessly on the ore mines. We had a few helping hands pitch in their efforts recently, and we can now officially share that the next mine is fully operational. We have been listening to the community's feedback, and we know how much you guys want to see actions rather than words. Hopefully this is our first step in the right direction, and I do hope we can continue to bring these positive additions to the server in a timely fashion. While my statement in the above paragraph may contradict what I am about to say, I encourage you to continue reading through without making any assumptions. We realize that the community has been waiting quite a while now for unregioning to take place in certain areas of Anthos, and I can now officially state that efforts are being made to bring this into steady discussion. Yes, we are currently in the discussion stage rather than taking action, but this is a delicate procedure and we must ensure that we unregion the land correctly the first time. For those who are unaware, the entire map of Anthos will not be unregioned. Areas of natural beauty, event locations, roads and settlements will remain regioned. However, specified areas throughout the land will be unregioned for anyone to use. More information regarding this topic will be shared as we progress through this stage. RP or PvP default for fighting is still up in the air. I will not expand on this topic to a great degree, but I will reaffirm that we are still deciding on what will happen with this. We have taken the community's feedback into heavy consideration, and I encourage you all to accept whatever the final outcome may be and look toward the benefits to the server's well being, rather than the possible downsides. We will simply have to ride this one through and learn as we go along; after all, it's not like the final decision can't be undone. As many have noticed, the GM team has become much smaller recently due to the eight GMs that left our ranks. Thus, we have already begun the process of recruiting new members onto the team. Thus far, we have promoted two new recruits: Blindmind and AllenTheGreat. While I am sure that many of you are already aware of Blindmind's promotion, Allen was recruited earlier today. Don't forget to congratulate him (or Blindmind if you have not already) when you get the chance! We are still in search of new potential members, so don't lose hope if your application has not been accepted yet! Earlier on in the month two new members were added to the Lore Team. Benboboy and I were the new recruits, and we have already begun efforts toward contributing to the team. Expect to see some interesting, new lore approved in the near future! (Hint: Orcs will be getting a treat). I presume it is safe to say that many of our teams have received plenty of new members within this month alone. The Event Team and Magic Team in particular have promoted a variety of fresh meat into their ranks. The Event Team specifically will continue to promote new members throughout the next couple of weeks. Expect to see some new and entertaining events sprout up from the Event Team's hard work, and the Lore Team can also be thanked for some of the upcoming events as well. In connection to events, we, the Event Team, are in search of event proposals from the community. We recently reviewed all of the present event proposals, and a majority of them have been accepted. However, the Event Team needs your help in deciding what the community wants in terms of events, and public event proposals are the best way to express this. While the team does develop their own events, we love assisting the community with their events as well. Event proposals are a great way to bring something fun and new to the server, and I believe events are essential in forming a solid relationship between not only the staff and community, but also within the community itself. Danny and the rest of the GM team have worked hard on overhauling the rules page to be shorter and more concise. Numerous rules that were either pointless or no longer enforced were removed, and some were merged in hopes of shortening the rules page. A couple of new rules have been added as well, although they were previously enforced as common sense anyhow. Lore regulations in general have been extremely loosened and relaxed. After heavy contemplation of player feedback, we have decided that this is a positive move towards a healthier community. Keep in mind that these changes place much trust in the community, and this is everyone's chance to prove that this can and will work. The changes to the lore regulations will be a great test to the community, and hopefully -- if all goes well -- we can continue to loosen our restrictions on specific aspects of the server. Want to know more? There is an entire thread listing all of the new changes in detail here. The main antagonist has recently been gaining numbers and action. Unfortunately, however, a large, vocal sum of the playerbase have stepped out to share their concerns and feedback. I have taken the observations into heavy consideration, and the main antagonist is currently undergoing a great overhaul. The discussion process is over, and I can now safely announce that the changes will be implemented soon. In fact, the battle at Fort Greywynn will act as a catalyst for these changes, depending on the outcome of the war. Expect to see the planned revisions in action soon! We have heard the community's cries, and we have been listening to your feedback. The staff team as a whole would like to encourage the community to continue to share your new ideas -- we are paying attention to you guys! It is evident how this can be easily disregarded and considered false words, but our actions will hopefully prove this in the coming weeks. The revisions to the rules page and loosening of lore restrictions are clear examples of this. I will personally be pushing for other changes that have been requested by the community as well, so stay tuned!
