  2. shoutout maltamoss Hi everyone, This time I'm actually leaving. Throughout the past two months, my schedule has been getting busier and busier, and I no longer have time for LotC anymore. Truthfully, work has completely swamped me and I want to focus more on my IRL relationships & future grad school. I'm really grateful for the opportunity that @Telanir@ScreamingDingo@Llir and @Heero gave me in the first place, and I'm even more grateful to have worked alongside them as well as@HogoBojo and @squakhawk @The60th is now the Moderation Admin. I have my full faith in him to do better than I did in every categorical aspect of administrating. I will be sticking around as admin until November 1 to help him transition into the role. After that, I'll be a moderator for a month and then fully make my departure from staff. --- Thank you for this opportunity to serve you, and I wish you all nothing but the best.
  3. Thank you for posting this, Anna. I appreciate all the work that you do on the team, as well as the others who crafted this PSA. The journey is long and difficult, but our community will only continue to grow and become a friendlier environment for all.
  4. Hi everyone, In accordance with crafting a safer community, Moderation & Administration have decided to institute some requirements for Discords that are directly affiliated with LotC. As such, all directly-affiliated Discords must verify the following settings in their configurations: “Direct affiliation” in this instance is: A discord advertised by players or staff on either the LotC forums or Discord. A discord that serves as a realm’s main Discord. Some realms use an official Discord that is not advertised in either our Discord or forums, but nonetheless are required to implement these settings. Private groups and friend Discords are not subject to these requirements at this time, so long as they are not publicly advertised on our official platforms. Thank you for helping us create a safer community. - Administration

Simplicity: Follow the spirit of the rules, not the word of law -- these rules create an environment for fun and organic War, so loopholing won’t be tolerated. Dynamism: You can run Wars any way you choose -- if all participants agree, they can (within reason) add, remove, or update any of the rules below before the first Warclaim. Amendments after the first Warclaim should be approved by Moderation to ensure all parties remain on the same page. WAGING & DECLARING WAR Warclaims War on Lord of the Craft is fought via ‘Warclaims’, where Realms rally their players and clash in large-scale PvP, in either a Field Battle or a Siege. Unless both sides agree otherwise, Warclaims are usually held on Saturday or Sunday afternoon between 1PM EST/6PM GMT - 4PM EST/9PM GMT. Starting a War: To declare a War, a Realm must make a ‘Warclaim Post’ that sets out the narrative of the War, their Wargoal, and their Warpath. The Warclaim Post should be made in the Warclaim Subforum. Justifications for War: War is often cruel and arbitrary. Realms may declare and wage War freely at their own peril. I.I: CONDUCT War is a unique and important part of the Lord of the Craft; given its scope and scale, there is no more ambitious form of collaborative storytelling than War. Yet War can also be stressful and tense for all sides, given that it can determine the fates of entire communities and in-game history. Conscious of this, all players have responsibilities when it comes to participating in War to make the experience as good as possible for everyone. Of our Realm Leaders, we expect to lead by example - as the figureheads of War, Realm Leaders have a major role to play in making War a cooperative effort. We expect them to be patient, accommodating, and to act in good faith; in the same vein, we expect them to take reasonable steps to keep players in their Realm from acting out. Of our Shotcallers & Commanders, we expect calm and flexibility. Leading and coordinating combat scenarios can be rewarding but intense, and often Moderators will need their cooperation to resolve issues in PvP. Like Realm Leaders, Commanders also set the tone for the players that follow them, and so they need to discourage bad faith behaviour when they see it. Of our Players, we expect courtesy and decency. While War can lead to frustration and upset when certain battles might not go in their favour, lashing out or attacking your opponents OOC is never the solution and is never allowed. Similarly, friendly competition and banter is fine; OOC insults and smearing is not. Good faith is the single most important facet of a successful War for all sides. Roleplay Leadership Guidelines, Community Guidelines, and Roleplay Standards are especially important in War. Though Staff will never seek to actively intervene in War roleplay, this can be necessary in cases of bad faith, such as targeting communities based on OOC grudges, engaging in egregious Metaplay to secure victory, or unfair or underhanded tactics (i.e., mass off-server recruitment for the sole purposes of winning a War).
  6. Hi everyone! Development of the next map is well underway. In the coming weeks, we hope to offer updates about a specific launch date as well as the systems we have crafted for the community to enjoy. At the moment we are discussing roads. While we have come to an agreement about the road shape and design, we are at an impasse about whether or not building on main roads should be allowed. Road Building: Although the rule was not fully adhered to, settlement construction was initially prohibited on roads this map. At the start of the map, nations were not allowed to build next to hubs or on roads, though exceptions were eventually made as more settlements began to prop up. The main points that have been brought up in our discussion about restricting nations from building on roads have been: Arguments for restricting road building Potential bottleneck on other nation’s activity Checkpoints that may not be conducive to roleplay Realms will potentially have to pay out of pocket for longer roads if they don’t wish to go through other realms The space being blocked around roads is minimal and not very impactful. Keeping roads clear as a route for people to travel from place to place without barriers Arguments against restricting road building Main roads that pass through nation territory are subject to that nation’s influence If a nation gets their activity cut off by a road that goes through another nation, then it should be dealt with in rp or through the construction of a new road that goes the long way around Realms should have sovereignty over their lands, including roads within their tiles Soulstoning directly to and nearby realms exist, so activity won’t be affected much by allowing nations to build on roads. Nations should engage in RP-diplomacy to resolve disputes in road travel What are your thoughts? Do you think we should restrict road building?
  7. Hi again, Upon further review of the evidence and comments made, we have decided to give Charlemagne a permanent (Player Conduct Violations) ban for his behavior in the screenshots Muna and MissToni provided. Although he has apologized and offered that he has changed, we cannot provide a platform for his redemption. In two days, it will have been 10 years since I joined LotC. I endured several different iterations of the LotC community, and I have been both on the receiving and giving end of really shitty, toxic behavior. I thought that since I matured and learned from my mistakes that anyone else could. When Charlemagne appealed, and there was support on his appeal, I thought there was a possibility that he changed. While he was back, I saw that change and I thought that it was okay. I didn’t come to think that even though he possibly changed, his behavior could not be redeemed on our platform. There is a threshold that cannot be crossed, and we see that in this thread. I personally underestimated how much this community has changed in the ten years I’ve been here. I reflected on what I had posted, and I started to have a weird feeling about it. It wasn’t a call that I was 100% confident in. I am sorry, specifically to Muna and MissToni that we mishandled this. Lord of the Craft serves to offer a place that people can escape some of the realities of their real life situation. My topmost priority has been to encourage a safe and welcoming environment for everyone. Please hold me to that. If I cannot offer that to you, the community, then please ask me to resign and I will. My next step is to implement standards for the roleplay server communities we advertise in our public discord, and set rules & guidelines for conduct we expect on discord. Thank you, and I will not let you down again.
  8. Hi everyone, we would like to address the recent discussions regarding Charlemagne's unban and the evidence of his past behavior. We understand the seriousness of this matter and would like to share our perspective and the steps we have taken. First and foremost, we want to make it clear that we do not condone any hostility towards individuals sharing their concerns on this matter. Everyone deserves to be treated with respect and empathy and we will not tolerate any behavior that violates this principle. In evaluating Charlemagne's ban appeal, we did not have access to the screenshots shared in this thread. His initial ban was for no-RP killing, resulting in an indefinite admin ban. After Charlemagne served nearly five years and submitted a public ban appeal addressing his past actions, we decided to lift his ban without any additional evidence presented at that time. Upon learning about the new evidence from Muna, we immediately reopened discussions about our decision. Although we did not classify this as a safety issue per our Safety Policy guidelines, we seriously considered permanently rebanning Charlemagne under other policies. We considered factors such as the length of time he was banned, his conduct since his unban, and the server culture at the time he was banned. However, we could not conclude that he should be re-banned permanently. Following our decision I reached out to Muna to discuss our reasoning and encouraged him to hold Charlemagne accountable. I deeply respect the courage it took for you to come forward with this. While we chose not to reban Charlemagne, we believe it is important for us to hold him accountable for his words – he is not immune to this. You deserve an apology, though that does not mean he deserves your forgiveness. We understand that some community members may be upset with our decision, and we empathize with those feelings. We encourage open and respectful discussions about this matter and are available for any further concerns or questions you may have. Thank you for your understanding and for helping us maintain a safe and welcoming environment for our community. Sincerely, Administration

The raiding party must include in the raid modreq that they will be using PvP equipment. Players must emote in shout placing the equipment in a minimum of three emotes if PvP has not yet started. Players who seek to break the equipment through RP means must emote 3 times uninterrupted to successfully disarm it. Emotes are not required in PvP Rational: N/A
  10. The Moderation Team is constantly fluctuating with new members joining and old members departing, that is a constant lifecycle it will have to endure. However, recently the numbers had dwindled and few were stepping up to the plate. It was only after a recently posted recruitment drive announced by @Zacho that we had applications coming in faster than we could keep up. It was with careful deliberation that we chose the large handful who would continue onto the interview stage. EXCITEDLY - Having one of the most compelling interviews it was evident that we would miss out on an incredible opportunity if we did not bring Excitedly onto the team. With his quick and well-thought responses we have high expectations for what’s to come from this new addition. THE60TH - His continuous work as a Tech Team member was not only noticed through IntelliJ IDEA and the plugins he produced. He has proven himself competent at taking note of issues within our systems and critiquing them with thorough and well thought out solutions. TABBY64 - It’s Tabby's incredible potential that brought him up to the plate of being brought onto the Moderation Team. This, accompanied by his exceedingly helpful and fresh look on the server made us sure that his future on the Moderation team is bright. TWANDHI - For his consistent work done on the Community Team and remarkable amount of claimed Community-Req’s completed, Twandhi has shown he has what it takes to join the ranks of Moderation and assist the server with this greater responsibility. Thanks!
  11. Hi everyone, The safety of every player in the LotC and Minecraft communities is important to me, as it is for every administrator. In our team’s past, we’ve struggled to build a policy on this matter and given the sensitive nature of these reports we’ve always kept our procedure internal. It has evolved over time, and we feel now that it is time to share it with you. We can do better—exposé posts about inappropriate relationships between players should not force our hand to enact a ban, we need to be proactive and transparent about this process. Critically, victims need to know that they are safe to come forward with a commitment to confidentiality, and without repercussions. Starting today, we are publicizing our safety policy to address our processes, and allow for transparency but also criticism. Our safety policy aims to shed light, provide support, and answer questions that have been left open-ended and unanswered for too long. https://lordofthecraft.net/safety/ This policy provides guidance on how to handle safety violations and protect this community. We also include various concepts that we feel are important to learn and understand in the context of LotC and the internet, including links to external resources for education and victim assistance. It is thanks to the efforts and contributions of members of the community that we can now have this safety policy. There is never a “final” copy—the policy is a living document tailored to our community, instead we want to revise and improve it over time. Please do not hesitate to reach out to any member of the administration to share your thoughts on this policy. We want to hear from you, if you have something to say then we want to hear it. Thank you, LotC Administration

  13. Safety Resources In this section, we offer explanations in the context of LotC to questions of consent, age of consent, and grooming. What is Consent? “Sexual consent is an agreement to participate in a sexual activity. Before being sexual with someone, you need to know if they want to be sexual with you too. It’s also important to be honest with your partner about what you want and don’t want. Consenting and asking for consent are all about setting your personal boundaries and respecting those of your partner — and checking in if things aren’t clear. Both people must agree to sex — every single time — for it to be consensual. Without consent, sexual activity (including oral sex, genital touching, and vaginal or anal penetration) is sexual assault or rape. Consent is easy as FRIES: Freely given. Consenting is a choice you make without pressure, manipulation, or under the influence of drugs or alcohol. Reversible. Anyone can change their mind about what they feel like doing, anytime. Even if you’ve done it before, and even if you’re both naked in bed. Informed. You can only consent to something if you have the full story. For example, if someone says they’ll use a condom and then they don’t, there isn’t full consent. Enthusiastic. When it comes to sex, you should only do stuff you WANT to do, not things that you feel you’re expected to do. Specific. Saying yes to one thing (like going to the bedroom to make out) doesn’t mean you’ve said yes to others (like having sex). You get the final say over what happens with your body. It doesn’t matter if you’ve hooked up before or even if you said yes earlier and then changed your mind. You’re allowed to say “stop” at any time, and your partner needs to respect that. Consent is never implied by things like your past behavior, what you wear, or where you go. Sexual consent is always clearly communicated — there should be no question or mystery. Silence is not consent. And it’s not just important the first time you’re with someone. Couples who’ve had sex before or even ones who’ve been together for a long time also need to consent before sex — every time. There are laws about who can consent and who can’t. People who are drunk, high, or passed out can’t consent to sex. There are also laws to protect minors (people under the age of 18) from being pressured into sex with someone much older than them.” > https://www.plannedparenthood.org/learn/relationships/sexual-consent This can all be very confusing in an online context. Although you may not engage in physical activities with anyone on the server, consent is still required before engaging in things like sexting, erotic roleplay, and other sexual exchanges. These all fall under the category of “sex” as defined by PlannedParenthood. What is the Age of Consent? “The age of sexual consent is how old a person needs to be in order to be considered legally capable of consenting to sex. Adults who have sex with someone younger than the age of consent face jail time and being registered as a sex offender. The age of consent varies in different parts of the U.S. and in different countries.” > https://www.plannedparenthood.org/learn/relationships/sexual-consent Lord of the Craft identifies the Age of Consent as 18, under UK, US, and international internet laws. Anyone under 18 may not consent to any sexual activities. Romeo and Juliet laws are a gray area and are not acknowledged in online laws. Sexting and exchanging nude photos is still considered child pornography. 18 is a minimum, and may not be accepted in your locality. Local laws still apply. What is Grooming? “One tool common to those who sexually abuse kids is grooming: manipulative behaviors that the abuser uses to gain access to a potential victim, coerce them to agree to the abuse, and reduce the risk of being caught. While these tactics are used most often against younger kids, teens and vulnerable adults are also at risk. Grooming can take place online or in-person. It’s usually employed by a family member or someone else in the victim’s circle of trust, such as a coach, teacher, youth group leader or others who naturally have some interaction with the victim. Though grooming can take many different forms, it often follows a similar pattern. Victim selection: Abusers often observe possible victims and select them based on ease of access to them or their perceived vulnerability. Gaining access and isolating the victim: Abusers will attempt to physically or emotionally separate a victim from those protecting them and often seek out positions in which they have contact with minors. Trust development and keeping secrets: Abusers attempt to gain trust of a potential victim through gifts, attention, sharing “secrets” and other means to make them feel that they have a caring relationship and to train them to keep the relationship secret. Desensitization to touch and discussion of sexual topics: Abusers will often start to touch a victim in ways that appear harmless, such as hugging, wrestling and tickling, and later escalate to increasingly more sexual contact, such as massages or showering together. Abusers may also show the victim pornography or discuss sexual topics with them, to introduce the idea of sexual contact. Attempt by abusers to make their behavior seem natural, to avoid raising suspicions. For teens, who may be closer in age to the abuser, it can be particularly hard to recognize tactics used in grooming. Be alert for signs that your teen has a relationship with an adult that includes secrecy, undue influence or control, or pushes personal boundaries.” > https://www.rainn.org/news/grooming-know-warning-signs No matter how much you get to know someone, you ultimately don’t know the person behind the screen. They may have other intentions with your relationship, platonic or romantic. We encourage you to enjoy your experience in interacting with the community. Make friendships that last lifetimes - but be cautious of
  14. Lord of the Craft Safety Policy This document serves as a resource for members of the community to understand the Administration’s safety violation procedures, as well as to encourage players to engage in safe roleplay (RP) and out-of-character (OOC) activities. We want to emphasize the risks that are involved in both platonic and romantic relationships that are formed from interacting with your fellow community members. While romance RP is allowed, erotic RP is not permitted on the server. At that, we need to recognize that some activities occur off our platforms. Lord of the Craft’s (LotC) main goal is to ensure the community is educated about consent and safety, as well as the repercussions for violating those boundaries. So, in the best interest of keeping you safe, please read this document. Warning: This document contains uncomfortable topics. Please allow yourself periodic breaks as you read. What is a Safety Violation? A safety violation results in a permanent removal from our services. Safety violations do not require any warning, and are issued immediately upon administrative approval (unanimous vote amongst the admin team). “Reversing these types of permanent bans is unprecedented, and requires server owner approval and new evidence.” — Admin Protocol A safety violation occurs when: A player breaches the consent clause A player breaches the age of consent clause A player is found to be grooming a member of the community A player assists another in breaching the safety policy This list is not exhaustive of potential safety violations. If a player engages in any unsafe activities that we believe to be harmful or dangerous to themselves or other community members, we will issue a permanent ban. As a reminder, we are not law enforcement. We can only do so much to keep people who breach our safety policies out of the community. If we have the opportunity to report someone to authorities in a local jurisdiction, we will surely do so. Anyone who encourages permanently banned players to continue playing or having an influence within the community may join them in their expulsion from our services. The same goes for bringing them into discords, helping them alt, or being a bystander whilst knowing that they were playing on the server. Safety violations on other servers will be carried over and vice-versa. The Administration commits to maintaining not only a safe environment for LotC players, but also for the entire Minecraft community. We work closely with other Minecraft roleplaying communities to ensure we all maintain high safety standards. Safety Procedures What is a safety report? A safety report is the first port of call in formulating any complaint or concern about another player’s behavior or actions to flag them for the Administration Team. Whether it be something heard off-hand to a direct issue between yourself and another player, these will flag the issue for us so that we may begin to handle it in a safe and private way. How do I make a safety report? You may send an email to [email protected] or go to any admin detailing the concerns along with some corroborating evidence. There is no specific format for a safety report. Anything you find concerning should be included in the report. As long as we have a name, screenshots (or testimony) of the players involved we are able to move forward in investigating the situation. To ensure a report will be investigated, please send it to an administrator or via email. Moderators and non-administrator staff members cannot issue permanent bans for safety violations. You may also message a specific admin to help you with the process. The following types of evidence are accepted: Hard evidence pictures, videos of discord chats, voice recordings, etc Testimony other players corroborating the story We will always make sure that the player is comfortable with the report moving forward, and ask to make sure that they are okay. When can I expect a reply? As soon as we determine the result of the report, we notify the filer. This is usually a quick process (1-2 days), but can take longer if we need more time to reach a decision. How does the Administration proceed with a report that suggests a safety violation? Each Administrator checks the safety email on a daily basis. We always investigate every report that comes through our channels. A discussion channel within our admin channel is opened up with a link to the report. All administrators are involved in this process. We verify ages via our application system, however this is not always accurate and so we may ask for government-issued ID for confirmation. All discussions are archived for internal records. My reports have not been answered within one to two days! Reports usually have a response within a day or two, but may take up to a week or longer when further investigation is required. When we are unsure of an aspect or detail of the report, we make sure that we check all our bases before implementing a decision. What are some questions we ask in a safety report discussion? How old are the players involved? How close in age are the players? Have we heard about players lying about being older or younger? Do we need to verify their age? If the report is lacking evidence, who can we contact to corroborate the story? If the report was filed by somebody other than the victim, how can we get in contact with the victim? What are the safety violations implied? Do we see that in the report? If there are no safety violations, what can we do to ensure this player doesn’t escalate this type of behavior? Is this behavior still happening? If so, do we need to issue an immediate investigation ban? Note: not all investigation bans are due to a safety report. These are issued to quickly defuse a situation that is potentially dangerous. Every situation is different, and we may ask different questions specific to the report. The above questions are typically asked in every report. What happens when a ban is issued? The player is permanently banned from all LotC platforms. This includes the server, forums, and discord communities officially associated with the server. Community leaders are also sent a message stating that one of their members has been permanently banned, and are expected to remove the means by which they may influence the server in their respective communities. Administrators immediately cut contact with the banned individual. They are not offered an explanation for the ban. Why can’t you give us a list of players who have been permanently banned from safety violations? We can’t provide a public list of players who have been banned due to safety violations. Please believe us when we say that we really want to. We are restrained from doing so as it could result in legal issues for ourselves and/or the server due to libel laws. We are however able to verify whether a player has been permanently banned, though this could be due to a variety of other reasons outside of safety violations. Appealing a Permanent Ban Anyone may attempt to appeal a permanent ban. Though, we do not reconsider permanent bans that occur as a result of a safety violation unless the evidence was fabricated. The only time the evidence was fabricated was found before the Administration reached a decision. Safety Violation Statistics As of November 2, 2022, approximately 92% of reports have resulted in permanent bans. 118 reports have been made, with 109 resulting in a ban. There has been 1 falsified report. The person who made the report was permanently banned from our services. This falsified report has been concluded in our statistic.

    Realms

Realms and Land Ownership Welcome to the realm system of Lord of the Craft! This guide will help you understand the basics of land ownership and the different features that come with it. Obtaining Land To get land for your realm, you need to have at least 40 unique accounts attached to it. Once you have the required number of players, you can obtain land through an approval process from the implementation team and a fee of 25,000 mina upon creation (or 10,000 if you are being given a core tile from an existing realm). The application form can be found here. New realms can be established in any unowned land except adjacent to the capital tile of another realm. If there is an ongoing war when your realm is created, you may not participate in it (unless granted an exception by both sides). If accepted, you will be given a free 2500 mina non-refundable LC region to facilitate your Capital build. Note that builds must conform with our build standards, and screenshots of build plans / assets must be provided as part of the application. Activity Checks To keep your realm active, you need to pass activity checks. These checks are conducted by an internal program and measure the activity of your realm. Activity is measured on two signals which are calculated based on a rolling-average of four weeks - online realm members, and players within your realm. The exact algorithm for how these are calculated is internal, though as a guideline you should maintain an average of 2% global activity, with an increase of 1% per core tile. Exterior tiles do not contribute to the expected activity increase. THRIVING Both signals passing significantly above requirement. SLIGHTLY OVER Both signals passing. SLIGHTLY UNDER One or more signals failing, though close to the requirement. NOT MEETING Both signals failing, or one signal significantly failing, eviction is imminent. Core tiles will need to be evicted to bring down your requirement. If the base 2% requirement is not being met, the realm may be dissolved. Realm dissolution will require final approval by both the Tech + Mod Admins. Tiles There are two types of tiles within realms, core and exterior tiles. Core tiles represent the bustling, lived-in parts of a realm and may be used for settlements, forts, vassals, estates, etc. Exterior tiles represent the vast territorial claims realms may have, and may not be developed beyond small improvements like farms, mines, docks, camps, small outposts, shrines, etc. Your capital tile is automatically a core tile. Additionally, your capital region may span multiple tiles with approval from the implementation team. One of these must be indicated as ‘true’ capital tile for administrative purposes. Monetary Upkeep To keep your land, you need to pay a monetary upkeep. The cost of this upkeep depends on the type of tiles you own. Your capital costs 300 minas in upkeep; and Additional core tiles cost 300 minas each, and; Exterior tiles cost 100 minas each. The upkeep will be automatically withdrawn from your treasury every Sunday. If you fail to pay your monetary upkeep and are unable to rectify the missed payment with staff, your realm will be dissolved. Normal Expansion If you want to expand your realm, you will need to pay for expansion. 10,000 minas to purchase an exterior tile. 5,000 minas to upgrade an exterior tile to a core tile. To purchase a tile, it must border at least one of your other tiles, or your capital. Expanding into a tile bordering another realm’s capital is considered an act of war. Tile purchases or core upgrades after a declaration of war will have no effect on victory conditions or war pathing, and any vassals added to these tiles will be annexed automatically if/when your capital is taken. Be aware that each new core tile increases your activity requirement by 1%. There is no activity-based limit on how many core tiles you can purchase at a time, though four weeks after acquisition your activity will be evaluated and may lose these tiles with no refund if you are not making the requirement. Previously, the system permitted expansion from any core tile without the rule of two bordering tiles. Realms that expanded this way will not have any of that land considered exclaves or removed, but may not continue expanding from those tiles unless they purchase additional land to satisfy the expansion rules from their capital to the expansion point. Tiles cannot be redrawn or split. Exclave Expansion An exclave is a region that is not connected to your capital tile per the normal expansion rules. It must have at least one core tile with an active vassal on it, which functions as the vassal-capital of the exclave. The tile must be cored immediately, though you have a one month “establishing” phase to get the active vassal in place, or the land is lost. Upkeep for exclaves is an additional 50 minas per tile. The additional upkeep and vassal-capital requirement does not apply to exclaves created due to a conquest warclaim, unless you wish to start expanding from / upgrading tiles in that exclave. Tile dispersal or evictions that result in an exclave losing its vassal-capital will initiate a one-month “establishing” phase, after which there must be a new vassal-capital, or the land is lost. Capital Relocation Your capital may be relocated as long as you are not involved in a war and you may not join an ongoing war after a capital relocation (unless granted an exception by both sides). Your capital may only be moved with sufficient roleplay and a build, and the new location must adhere to the normal expansion bordering guidelines. If you wish to move your capital to a tile you do not own (or is not cored), you must first purchase and core it. Capitals may be moved to an exclave with consent of the vassal-capital’s leadership (or if the exclave is in the “establishing” phase), though this would turn the previous capital-connected land into an exclave. If the intention is to surrender the previous capital's lands upon relocation to an exclave, this exclave will be charged only an exterior tile's upkeep until the relocation, though this must be communicated to staff prior to tile acquisition. Tile Dispersal / Downgrading You can get rid of tiles in your realm using the following methods, note that you may not disperse of a tile if it results in a violation of normal expansion bordering guidelines: Exterior / vacant core tiles: Exterior tiles, or core tiles without vassals, may be abandoned or sold to another realm at any point. This will cause the tile to be removed from the realm. You can also downgrade a core tile to exterior at any time. When a tile is downgraded or abandoned you will receive a refund of 50% of the cost, given you owned the tile for at least 3 months and your realm is not pending dissolution or being downsized due to activity checks, for that case no refund is given. Occupied core tiles: If a tile you wish to disperse of contains a vassal, you may either expel them from the realm, transfer them to another realm, or evict them. Eviction: Follow the process outlined in the region rules, after this you can abandon or sell the tile as outlined above. Expulsion: One week notice (unless otherwise mutually agreed on) before they become their own realm, they may revolt during this time if they do not want independence. They must meet the requirements for realm creation signatures. Transfer: One week notice (unless otherwise mutually agreed on) until they transfer to another realm. The other realm must also be in agreement before the process begins. If the vassal does not wish to be transferred, they may declare a rebellion or revolution during this time. Realm Merging Two realms may agree to merge. One realm's capital must be designated the capital for administrative purposes. A one week notice will be given in both realms, during which time any vassals may rebel / revolt, unless all vassals agree to the merger. The merger may not proceed until any issues with vassals are resolved through. Realm Dissolution A realm may be dissolved by it's leadership, or by staff if upkeep or activity requirements have not been met, with a one week notice. During this time, any vassals may declare independence should they meet the realm creation requirements. A dissolution may also be stopped by a revolution. If the realm is being dissolved due to failure to pay upkeep, the relevant upkeep must be paid by any newly independent vassals, or in the event of a revolution, the new leadership. Administration Features As a realm owner, you have access to several administration features. Every feature is free, aside from carts. Multiple within the realm: Carts: These allow your players to fast-travel across your lands. Carts are only allowed for use within the realm, and not to anywhere outside of your lands. Upkeep Cost Carts require a standard upkeep cost per week based on the distance they travel. The further the distance, the higher the cost. Keep this in mind when deciding where to send your carts, and how much to charge as a usage fee. Usage Fee Realm leaders can optionally determine the price players pay for using carts. A separate price can be set for realm members and non-members. One within the realm: Soul Beacon: Location where realm members can always soulstone to. This will be where new players have their soulstone set when leaving cloud temple should they select your realm. This location can be viewed with /rg info realm_<realm_id> and looking at the region coordinates. Please make a /treq to update this location. Default Mine: This is a free mine that comes with each realm. You can use it to gather resources and materials. Treasury: Hold your realm’s mina. It is free, and you can have one per realm. Treasuries have sub-accounts for the realm’s leadership to manage. Each account has a transaction ledger that allows managers to review outgoing and incoming payments. You can link shops to any treasury account. One per core-tile within a realm: Green Soulstone Pillar: These allow your players to travel to your realm. Banks: NPCs that allow players to store their mina. Aviaries: These allow you to send messages to other players. Bells: These allow you to send a roleplay-valid Discord message to a channel from in-game; useful for events, attacks, or other RP announcements.

    Regions

‘Regions’ refer to areas protected with WorldGuard. For a more in-depth explanation our Nation, Settlement, and Lair system, please refer to the next section, 'Settlement Rules'. These rules cover basic day-to-day interactions between players and regions. Region Ownership and Eviction Rules A standard region member must be notified 3 days prior to removal from the region should they have a home or shop. (This is normally done with a sign in front of their door, for mass evictions a region greeting flag can be used). A player's locks may be evicted by a region owner through /evict. /evict may only be used on a player’s building after the 3 day eviction notice has passed. Using it before the 3 days is strictly forbidden. Some locks, although owned by a player, may be considered “nation/settlement-owned”, such as in guardhouses, public buildings, nation storage, etc. These locks may be removed or transferred by the PRO through a mod-request instead of /evict, with no 3-day wait required. A leadership figure may not steal more than 10% of any type of item from the nation’s storage and treasury when they leave. Moderator supervision is required for when this occurs. Primary region owners (PROs) of nation tiles, capitals, independent settlements, or lairs must be the active roleplay leader of the nation, settlement, or lair. If they are overthrown via a coup, entirely inactive, or otherwise no longer the roleplay leader, they must release their PRO status to the new roleplay leader of the nation or settlement. The PRO of a nation may have permission to build on road regions that are within their nation's tiles. These builds or additions on the road may not alter the road physically or change the route of the road The build may not obstruct the road or traffic along the road in any way. This includes, but is not limited to: gates, forts, checkpoints, walls, or any other kind of aggressive structure that would suggest the listed examples above. Only the PRO may add/remove region owners. No notice is required. For nations, this applies to tiles, the capital, and sub-regions outlined in 8.2. A tile PRO (the nation leader) must request the creation of sub-regions of an appropriate size within a nation tile when they wish to build a significant structure on the tile. The region ownership will be determined as follows Initially, the region will not have a PRO listed. Once the build is complete, the region ownership will be by default transferred to the roleplay leader of that location. An exception may be granted by Moderation on request of the nation for nation-run military forts, unfortified manors/lodges, farms, or shops. For these, the nation leader is set as PRO. This exception may never apply for vassals, settlements, militant guilds, or mercenary groups. The roleplay leader of the region may request that this exception be lifted at a later point in time should the use of the region and/or build have changed, making the region no longer fit the exception criteria. Likewise, the nation leader may request the exception be granted at a later date should the use of their region and/or build have changed so that it fits the criteria. A tile PRO (the nation leader) may remove or change the PRO of sub-regions, or request deletion of sub-regions, but must notify the owners 7 days prior. There must be valid roleplay supporting this decision. This does not apply to the regions excepted under rule 8, for which a 3 day standard eviction may apply. The 7 day eviction notice may be interrupted through rebellion (see War Rules), should the region have been classified under the default classification of rule 8 for at least 14 days. If the region has had this classification for less than 14 days, a 7 day notice is still required, though it is not grounds for a rebellion. Nations cannot claim ownership of land in freebuild areas. Disclaimer on Rule 8:

    Heists

#scope ul li { margin-bottom: 1em; } #scope p { line-height:2; font-size:16px; } What are Heists? A heist is an organized roleplay ‘raid’ where the attackers are allowed to lockpick various chests and/or armor stands to steal from their targets This is purely roleplay and any Out of Character usage is not permitted, including during the planning. Committing a Heist A /modreq must be made beforehand with proof of scouting roleplay (a link to screenshots), and where the player is intending to heist so that a moderator may plan a date. Scouting roleplay must be done beforehand, shared in a document when the heist request is made. On the day of the Heist, at the approved time agreed upon by the leader of the Heist and the Moderator handling it, the leader must make a /modreq detailing the number of heisters, the heist location, and what is being heisted. The Moderator will be in spectator/vanish as the heist occurs. Heist Guidelines You must adhere to the guidelines above and limitations, outlined below. You must adhere to Roleplay Quality Standards. Signs must be placed to describe the roleplay once concluded (scattered footprints, etc). You can request assistance in a /modreq if you are unable to place down signs due to region permissions. You must adhere to server-rules, and only enter locations that are accessible mechanically. Using boats, horses, or 'horse parkour' to bypass walls higher than 3 blocks in height, or gaps wider than 4 blocks in length is not allowed. Moderators who come across excessive amounts of doors blocking a single path to a room may treat it as three doors for lock-picking purposes. A heist must consist of three to six players. Lockpick attempts may be emoted (#q) and rolled (/roll -q) in quiet chat. Use of the lockpicking plugin is not permitted during heists. Players are permitted to bring up to seven thievery tools each with them on a heist. (ex. Bringing 5 Lockpicks and 2 Bolt Cutters.) A thievery tool is defined as an admin approved lockpick, bolt cutter, or ladder crate. All thievery tools are consumed upon use, regardless of the outcome. Players must use lockpicks and bolt cutters with /use while holding the thievery tool in their main hand, after the attempting emote has been made. In order to place a ladder crate, there must be three emotes posted in #s in order to set up the equipment, and may be disarmed by the targeted settlement’s citizens with three uninterrupted emotes in #rp or #s while they stand next to the ladder crate. You can attempt to lockpick a target three (3) times. Each target-object can be attempted by all members of the party, unless jammed. Heist members are allowed to loot up to three items per member during a heist. After a successful lockpick of a chest or barrel, you can loot up-to one-half (rounded down) from a single stack, or a unique (singular) item. You can only loot up to three slots, per target chest or barrel. If the target-item can be stacked with others inside the same chest or barrel, a member of the Moderation Team can condense these before splitting the full-stack. Heist Limitations After a heist is done another may not be conducted on the same targeted settlement for one week. If the heisting group is caught and attacked by anyone in the targeted settlement, the members of that settlement will be given Defender (Guard) Default. Only those around at the time will be allowed to initiate the combat. They may use a Rally Bell or via shout to alert others of the city of the heist. Event and Staff Areas may not be heisted. Warp and Soulstone may not be used to gain entry to an area. This does not include hub-pillars. No Blocks may be broken during a heist. (Excluding rolls as outlined above.) All routes of entry must be accessible prior to the start of the heist, any secret entrances such as tunnels must be known through RP. Heists must be planned in-game through RP. Screenshots will be required by Moderation prior to approval. If costumes/disguises are made for the heist, they must be lore friendly and made in-game. In addition to the above, heist groups will be permitted to steal up to a single placed RP item. These items can include but are not limited to, crystals, thrones, chairs, tables, anvils, piles of rare books, paintings, etc. This item may not be in a chest, item frame, or armor stand. Taking the item must make RP sense and will be up to the handling moderators discretion. Boats, carts, smoggers, and other similar builds, function like major vandalism and will require PRO/RO permission in order to steal them. Moderators will need to inspect the inventories of all players before and after the heist. You have two hours to complete the heist, starting when the moderator overseeing the heist notifies the leader to start. Once the time limit is up, no more items may be stolen and you must leave the area. Heist Rolling Guidelines You must emote each attempt to lockpick and/or break-in. Each emote must be followed by /roll 20. You must follow all guidelines encompassed in heist rules. A roll below 5 will result in an object-target jamming, causing it to be unable to be lockpicked further. Required rolls for success: Doors/Trapdoors (Wooden) — Roll 16+ (13+ w/ lockpick) Doors/Trapdoors (Iron) — Roll 18+ (16+ w/ lockpick) Glass Window — Roll 11+ (3+ w/ hard-object*) Wooden Fence Window — Roll 16+ (11+ w/ axe*) Wooden Gate — Roll 16+ (11+ w/ lockpick) Iron-Bar Window — Roll 16+ (Roll 11+ w/ bolt-cutters) Chest/Barrel — Roll 16+ (Lockpick or Bolt-Cutters required) Item Frame/Armor Stands — 16+ (Bolt Cutters Required) Bookcases/Lecterns — 16+ Per Book Redstone Door — Roll 16+ (Lockpicks Required) *This item must be present in your inventory. Overseeing Moderators may be using recording Software during a heist for documentation purposes.
  22. Disclaimer: A chest encompasses all storage containers, including barrels, shulker-boxes, furnaces, hoppers, etc. Other containers such as lecterns, bookshelves and armour-stands can only be stolen from during a Heist. At times, a character might indulge in others’ belongings— though, may find their path hindered with locks and other obstacles. You can lockpick a wooden (or iron) door, wooden gate or trap-door with the /lockpick command (alternatively /smash or /breakdown). Other instances, such as chests and item frames require a /modreq. You must adhere to Roleplay Quality Standards. Each /lockpick attempt requires an emote in the appropriate channel. /Lockpicking must be emoted in #rp or #q. /Smash and /Breakdown must be emoted in #rp or #s. Signs must be placed to describe the roleplay once concluded (scattered footprints, etc). You can request assistance in a /modreq if unable to place down signs due to region permissions. You must adhere to server-rules, and only enter locations that are accessible mechanically. Using boats, horses, or 'horse parkour', or any glitches to bypass walls higher than 3 blocks in height, or gaps wider than 4 blocks in length is not allowed. Moderators who come across excessive amounts of doors blocking a single path to a room may treat it as three doors for lock-picking purposes. Petty Theft Guidelines You must adhere to the guidelines above and limitations, outlined below. Unlocked chests (not including shop-chests) can be stolen from, without limitations, following a sufficient emote. You must create a /modreq to lockpick locked chests, barrels, or shop-chests. After a successful lockpick of a chest and/or shop-chest, you can loot up-to one-half (rounded down) from a single stack. You can only loot up to three slots, per target chest. In effect, this prevents unique (singular) items from being stolen. If the target-item can be stacked with others inside the same chest (or shop-chest), a member of the Moderation Team can condense these before splitting the full-stack. Interactable RP Objects include all individual objects that can be interacted with through roleplay but cannot be looted mechanically, such as heads/bodies hung outside of areas, bodies in graves and/or tombs outside cities, uniforms in armories, etc. You must create a /modreq before stealing an interactable roleplay object. A member of the Moderation Team will claim the ticket, either accepting or denying the request, pending discussion and valid reason. Petty Theft Limitations You cannot interact with blocks, in order to break into a location or bypass locks. You can only loot three (3) locked chests, barrels, and/or shop-chests, per 24 hours. You must request a Heist to steal items from lecterns, bookshelves, item-frames and armor-stands or to target a unique (singular) item. You can attempt to lockpick a target three (3) times. Each target-object can be attempted by all members of the party, unless jammed. You must have an admin-approved lockpick in your inventory, in order to /lockpick (rather than /breakdown). Lockpicks and Bolt-Cutters can be crafted at a smithing table. Lockpicks and Bolt-Cutters are consumed upon use, regardless of the outcome. Players must use lockpicks and bolt cutters with /use while holding the thievery tool in their main hand, after the attempting emote has been made. In order to place a ladder crate during petty-theft, there must be three emotes posted in #s in order to set up the equipment, and may be disarmed by anyone with three uninterrupted emotes in #rp or #s while they stand next to the ladder crate. Rolling Guidelines You must create a /modreq before attempting to lockpick a target. You must emote each attempt to lockpick and/or break-in. Each emote must be followed by /roll 20. You must follow all guidelines encompassed in petty-theft rules. A roll below 5 will result in an object-target jamming, causing it to be unable to be lockpicked further. Required rolls for success: Doors/Trapdoors (Wooden) — Roll 16+ (13+ w/ lockpick) Doors/Trapdoors (Iron) — Roll 18+ (16+ w/ lockpick) Glass Window — Roll 11+ (3+ w/ hard-object*) Wooden Fence Window — Roll 16+ (11+ w/ axe*) Wooden Gate — Roll 16+ (11+ w/ lockpick) Iron-Bar Window — Roll 16+ (Roll 11+ w/ bolt-cutters) Chest/Barrel — Roll 16+ (Lockpick or Bolt-Cutters required) *This item must be present in your inventory. Vandalism You must create a /modreq before an act of vandalism. A member of the Moderation Team will supervise the event and make the required alterations in-game. You must request region owner permission for major alterations (destruction of large structures, arson, explosions, etc) You can conduct minor alterations, such as graffiti, propaganda or minor destruction (windows, doors, banners, etc) without region owner approval. Signs must be placed down to describe the scene. You can request assistance from the moderator if you're unable to place down signs due to region-permissions.

    Roleplay

General Roleplay Please review and abide by the Roleplay Standards. Your Minecraft skin must be appropriate and match the persona you are playing. Roleplay must take place within the server’s established lore and medieval-fantasy setting. Exclude real-world history, clones of real-world figures, and lore from other games and fiction from your roleplay. Do not troll or meme in roleplay, follow the Roleplay Standards. Always remain in character while in roleplay chat channels. Do not participate in or encourage metagaming or powergaming. Your own characters may not interact with each other. This includes physically being together, transferring items, or otherwise contributing to each other’s ambitions, goals, or stories. Your inventory, actions (ex. punching), and mechanical location are considered admissible in RP. You may not roleplay items that you do not currently possess in your inventory (this excludes small, non-combat and non-magical trinkets such as rings and necklaces). Features from mods such as Figura are not visible to all players and are considered inadmissible in RP. Information on your persona card must match your character, you must always have your persona’s age and race on the card - you may not adjust your character's age artificially to avoid aging. Lore creatures, event creatures, etc. are an exception. Do not set your character name to anything that is offensive, or impersonates another member of the community (and other realms of fiction or non-fiction). You cannot give your persona to another player. The only exceptions are between your own alternative accounts. Do not share your accounts with anyone. Any action taken is your responsibility. Sharing your accounts with banned players will result in harsher punishment. This includes any alt accounts that are linked to your main account. Do not use alternate accounts to avoid punishments such as bans and blacklists. This leads to ban length extensions. Do not set your Minecraft username to anything that is offensive, or impersonates another member of the community. Doing this will result in the account being banned until the name is changed. Character Death and Permakills When your character dies, they do not recall how it happened or any event leading up to the death. Further, you may not return to the area in which they died until 30 minutes have passed. Even after 30 minutes, you may not interact with the ongoing roleplay scenario that lead to your character’s death. Death by suicide is non-reversible (permakill) unless specific lore states otherwise. Accidental or forced suicide does not count (such as unknowingly drinking a poisoned beverage, or being forced to stab yourself). Referencing monk revival shortly before death, using /d20, or suddenly collapsing due to stress, a heart attack, or bleeding out to forcefully end or avoid roleplay is not cohesive with our Roleplay Standards, and will result in punishment. Repeatedly doing this may result in administration forcefully perma-killing your character. Another player cannot force you to permanently kill a character upon death without your consent, regardless of the situation or any out of character agreements. Permanently killing a character can be enforced or reversed by the administration on a case-by-case basis in special circumstances. The one-week permakill take back would not apply for this. If you permanently kill your character, you have one week to reverse your decision with the exception of suicide, an agreed-upon event-perma-kill, or an administration-enforced permakill. Except for certain creatures/magics with a revival mechanic, if a character witnesses their own body after monk revival, they will be unable to recognize it. Further, they will not believe any claim that it is their body, or that they even died. Bodies and body parts are not dragged away by monks, remaining after death and revival. If a character is revived, they may not reference notes they left for themselves prior to visiting a group or location as evidence they were killed. Witnessing (or fabricating) a character's non-PK death and ruling the individual to be "Undead" when learning they have been revived is permitted. Prohibited Roleplay Sexually explicit or graphic roleplay is forbidden. You must ‘fade-to-black’. Characters under the age of 18 may not fade-to-black. Fading to black, or more commonly known as an FTB is an emote in which the screen ‘fades out.’ Prior to a graphic or explicit scene, you are expected to emote the screen ‘fading out.’ No graphic, sexually explicit, or erotic / fetish (references to) roleplay takes place on the server. Brothels, prostitution, rape, beastiality, pedophilia, grooming, and necrophilia are prohibited and may not even be mentioned in roleplay or backstories. Relationships with playable humanoid races do not count as beastiality. 'Grooming' is defined as: Romance-based roleplay, relationships, engagements, marriages, etc. involving characters 18 years of age, unless all characters involved are within two years of age. Homophobic, transphobic, and racist roleplay are prohibited. Racist roleplay in this context refers to mirrors of IRL racism. Discrimination against in-game races, CAs, magic users, etc. is still permitted. We consider the age of maturity to be 18 years of age. Regardless of the medium, we will take action against players who use our community as a means to engage in predatory behaviour towards others. If you feel unsafe due to the actions of another player, please email [email protected]

    Gameplay

Gameplay Rules Do not abuse glitches/exploits. Report any glitch/exploit you find immediately to a member of the Tech Team, do not share these glitches/exploits with anyone. Do not use modified clients that grant you an advantage or cheat in any way, including but not limited to auto-clickers or mouse/keyboard features to that effect, radar, etc. You may only have a maximum of three minecraft accounts registered on the server. All of your Minecraft accounts must be linked to your forum account. This can be done with /freja forum <forum username>. If for some reason this command does not work, contact a member of the Tech Team. You may not use multiple personas to gain an advantage by circumventing Terra (mining/herb node) limitations and concentrating the benefits with one nation/settlement/group/etc. Example, no "Grinding Alts" or RPly unaffiliated personas contributing to something that doesn't make sense for them. You may not access areas you cannot get to in roleplay. This includes using boats, horses, or 'horse parkour' to bypass walls higher than 3 blocks in height, or gaps wider than 4 blocks in length
  25. Player Conduct For our guidelines on unacceptable player conduct, please see our Player Conduct Policy. Safety For our stance surrounding consent, age of consent, and the protection of minors, please see our Safety Policy.
