The staff at the time was unable to implement effective policies to manage NR and it was pockmarked with numerous issues that made it difficult to enjoy. Automated regioning that doesn't involve biased personal input is still something that's on our list albeit with much greater care involved in a second attempt.

The region automation was god awful, I actually had to get friends to get in my shitty 8x8 region that I just used as a cabin in the middle of the woods in the Human Heartlands only for some gm to come along and reset it, dropping the requirement down to one player and some dwarf to come along and snipe it. The only good aspect of the plugin were the pillars for the simple region tools & stats which were actually requested to be kept by a fair number of people, though tech didn't quite seem to get the message as usual. 

Then I had to go find all my ******* trophies being sold on the black market. >:(
