  1. A small update on this thread- I have completed 16 characters thus far, but unfortunately have fallen into an art burnout for the time being. I am unsure when I will be ready to resume this work, and have not collected mina from those still waiting for their sketches, but will reach out in the future if I find myself ready to pick them up once more! I am so very sorry for this, I definitely overestimated what I could handle according to my IRL schedule / art motivations, and that is my fault and mistake. In the future I will cap myself much lower - this is definitely a lesson learnt. I have already placed my proper Commissions on hiatus, and am currently only completing occasional sketches of my own characters etc. to try and work through the burnout and get back in the swing of things, though I cannot determine when I will be ready. Again, I am very very sorry for this holdup! I will be in touch with you all directly when I am ready once again (if you are still interested, of course!) @AnimeWolf0080 @Aimy_lol @ichigomaster98 @glassyskies
  2. Thank you for clarifying the physical composition! I agree with your points about FTB + Transc being passed w that specific redline. I think the only difference I would point out is that with Transc, your character is still a mortal with their own mind etc. who has additional effects, whereas with Treelords your character's soul and entire existence has been altered. With that in mind, I could again see asexual companionships existing, but understand the argument against FTB (They're plants). But again, if your redlines are cutting away the potential for problematic FTB, I don't see why it should be anyone's concern or business. They shouldn't hear about it or see it anyhow.
  3. Can we see an addition of soulbind mechanics to the current combat rules? The accepted practice is that anything soulbound cannot be taken from inventories etc. (imagine thieving / banditry rp situations), but there is no actual mention of this rule in the rules themselves. I believe the only place that soulbind mechanics are mentioned at all are in MArt guidelines. Would also like to know how this translates to RP - if something cannot be taken because it is soulbound, but it is currently being used in an RP situation, why are characters unable to remove it from their person?
  4. I'm not a big lore-reader unless its implemented, so forgive me if I've missed anything that explains what I'm about to point out- On the topic of Treelord Physiology, and FTB concerns by extension: What exactly are treelord husks made out of? What I have quoted above doesn't really state whether their bodies are flesh, bone, and muscle with sap for blood, or if their bodies are just moving trees with the appearance / texture of flesh and muscle? In addition, how exactly does a tree spit out a skeleton + flesh husk, in the first place? Is it simply treelord magic? I think it would be nice to have some explanation on how a plant is capable of doing that. In regards to the FTB concerns - I don't really understand why FTB should be a concern, if the players aren't doing wacky ass shit.. But again, you can't really keep an eye on those things or trust a community to be normal either. I could understand FTB being redlined in regards to the Treelord being obsessed with nature and being.. quite literally a plant - in the case of their husks being made of tree rather than skeleton/flesh. Plants don't fornicate. Why would they have sexual desires or interests? I could understand some form of asexual companionship, but not sexual interests. I would like to trust people not to be weirdos with their FTB, but the entire lotc community has proven time and time again that they can't be trusted, unfortunately. Might be for the better, with this one.
  5. A pale, honey-eyed elfess would scoff at the missive, tossing it aside as a balled up scrap of waste soon after, "Gawh. How gaudy this is, for such an apparently official proclamation. I cannot take this missive seriously, with the ridiculous curls and swirls galore. It does ne suit the aesthetic of 'Overlord'."
  6. I began this discussion, over the past day or two. My issues were with the lack of Soulbinds existing as a rule for RP interactions - because I have been told by a GM that a soulbound item cannot be taken or thieved from someone's inventory or hand. So then how does it translate to RP? Does it just magically not leave their hand, ever? It needs a proper rule put in place, rather than some vague community say-so without any actual rule mention.
  7. A pale, honey-eyed elfess would click her tongue in disappointment, folding up a missive found in the midst of her wanderings, "There are often accusations of such a nature thrown about, especially among Magi. But for one to claim to be dark themselves, accusing another, and further absolving her council? It is a more trustworthy testimony than most." A bitter smile would creep across her lips, "Ambition and greed creates the worst of us. I saw much potential in you - it is a shame you cannot even mask your own affairs. I did tell you, Yera." "Watch yourself, Girl."
  8. Why don't we have rules on banditry lmao??

Are they on some random post somewhere? I remember Soulbinds used to count IRP - no one could take a soulbound item. Do Soulbinds even relate to RP anymore? Is it the same rules as stealing from locked chests, with rounded-down stacks etc?

When a party emotes to pursue combat, parties must decide whether it will be resolved through CRP or PVP. Once a decision is made, it cannot be reversed unless both sides agree. If neither side agrees, it defaults to CRP.

If the conflict includes eight or more people, the defenders may vote by majority to switch to PvP. Afterwards, it requires the consent of all groups involved.

Guards are defenders when in their own land.

The decision to mechanically flee should be decided when any party begins an emote with the intent to pursue combat.

After being stopped with a sufficient halting emote, involved parties must adhere to the movement rules. If the party halted chooses to continue to run, they will be teleported back by a moderator.

A sufficient halting emote must be said in #rp, and contain a descriptive halting action such as “He moves to block her path, a hand held towards their weapon”, or both dialogue and said action.

The victor of the combat scenario allows the losing party to either soulstone or /d20. Using either prematurely or in bad-faith can result in a perma-kill the losing party’s characters.

Once any party begins an emote with the intent to pursue combat, the use of mechanics (blocks, LWC, lava, waterbuckets, flint & steel, MyPet, etc.) is disallowed.

      However, involved parties can:

Emote the usage of Craftbook and LWC mechanisms (doors, gates, bridges, lifts, etc.) in CRP.

Freely use Craftbook and LWC mechanisms in PvP.

Stalling or intentionally holding off conflict through OOC means is disallowed.

Use of soul stones in order to travel during or leading up to conflict is disallowed.

Malirally bells can only be used after three uninterrupted preparation emotes.

Combat Roleplay (CRP) is a chat-based battle between characters. It relies on your fairness and honor to wage fun and realistic combat. Players exchange emotes while following the Roleplay Standards: avoiding powergaming, being considerate, and accepting defeat gracefully. If an action relies on random chance, players have the option of using our /roll plugin to guide their decisions.

      1 block = 1 meter

Combat is considered “locked” 15 minutes after the initial emote with the intent to pursue combat, preventing others from joining unless both sides agree.

Once combat is locked, players involved in the fight will be “invisible” to everyone who is not in the combat.

Once combat has ended players are freely allowed to leave unrestricted by anyone outside of the initial combat.

You may move four blocks per emote, or eight blocks per emote whilst mounted, whenever performing an action relevant to combat. An example of an action is swinging a melee weapon, blocking a strike, aiming a ranged weapon, preparing to throw a projectile, or casting magic.

You may move eight blocks per emote, or twelve blocks per emote whilst mounted, when your character is solely focused on sprinting and not being reasonably attacked.

You must follow realistic standards for abstract scenarios such as when falling, walking or running with injuries, etc. You must account for these scenarios when referencing movement or other actions.

Furthermore, combat roleplay does not adhere to mechanical standards and instead follows common sense logic.

For example: your character can not pull a boat out of their pocket even if there is a boat in your minecraft inventory.

The exception being that special items used in combat like weaponry, potions, etc., must be in your mechanical inventory to be used in CRP.

In order to join an ongoing combat scenario, you must make two emotes making your character’s presence known before being able to engage in the ongoing combat. Likewise, to leave combat you must emote three times unhindered, making your character's attempts to leave known.

The two emotes before joining combat must be fully non-combative, i.e you are not able to draw any sort of weapon, connect to magic etc.

Only one of two emotes needs to be emoted before combat locks, if combat locks after you have started you are free to continue emoting joining.

Horses or other mounts cannot be summoned during combat by whistle.

      Mechanics Combat/MRP (Alternative)

If both parties in the battle wish to use their own agreed upon rule set they may do so. However, if any issues are to arise the combat will be immediately swapped to one of the existing systems.

      Mechanics Combat/MRP

Mechanics-based combat roleplay (MRP) is also considered RP, however, it uses Minecraft combat to simulate the encounter. In the event that this combat is chosen, you must do the following:

All involved players must choose an appropriate /status which must match for all players on the side that you are fighting for.

The use of storage containers during combat is disallowed.

Before initiating a /countdown, both sides must have clearly stated they are ready for MRP.

Engaging in mechanics after MRP has been agreed upon (hitting, moving, dropping items, summoning horses) is prohibited. After the countdown ends, these restrictions are lifted.

If you are completely disengaged from MRP for 10 minutes, you are free to leave.

      Capture Roleplay

During mechanical combat, a player can be bound via the capture plugin after being downed.

When capturing a common citizen, you must actively interact with them for the duration of the 2 hour holding limit.

If MRP occurs involving the holding party, no interaction is necessary but the time continues.

The captive may not escape mechanically in MRP if the capturers emoted binding, tying or knocking them out.

Active interaction is defined as no more than 15 minutes between emotes with the prisoner.

Captive players are expected to engage in high-quality RP with their captors in good faith.

High ranking nation officials like monarchs, military commanders, and councilors may be held actively for up to 3 hours with RP.

If a player has to log off at any point throughout the capture, the players involved must first agree on a conclusion or resume the RP once they are able to both be online. While this is in effect, the captured persona cannot be played.

The capture timer begins only when the captive arrives at the holding location, not as soon as they are apprehended.

these are all the rules regarding combat, there are no bandit-specific rules I believe

@satinkira Yeah, and there are no rules on soulbinds, too. Soulbinds need to be added, at the very least.

I could have sworn not being allowed to take soulbinds used to be in the rules before... Or did I just imagine it?

  9. I am glad this is in place. However, I am also disappointed. These exact rules have been requested time and time again, on multiple threads discussing the nature of NSFW art and how it should be managed and limited. It took the creation of a problematic Discord Server dedicated to NSFW Art, posted on the main LotC Discord as @Werew0lf stated, for these rules to be implemented. This is definitely a step forward, but should have occurred sooner.
  10. @AesopianYeah this is correct. Greensight is quite literally the vision of the blind, only they can see energy where living life force exists
  11. I honestly did consider it.. But it's essentially blind people, who wouldn't see that kinda stuff :< Maybe I can make an april's fools version in the future
  12. Heyo! My character recently learnt Greensight IRP, which prompted an OOC discussion about an older Greensight Texture Pack created by @Dry Crackers! I checked it out, and decided to make an updated version for 1.18.2! Feel free to immerse yourself! Druidic Greensight Texture Pack * Please note - All this texture pack does is remove textures from any blocks that aren't 'living'. Anything else is turned completely black, unable to be recognised. The skybox remains normal, but if anyone knows how to remove those textures I'd love to do that as well! ^ Example ^ It is absolutely very janky, but I figured I'd share in case anyone wanted to use it, or use it as inspiration for a proper Greensight texture pack! - Stripped Wood cannot be seen. It is commonly used in houses / buildings, and realistically lacks life force - Normal Wood can be seen, however it is not always used for trees. It is up to you to RP whether you can sense it or not depending on what the wood has been used for build-wise - Signs have been left for OOC purposes (ST Signs etc.) - All inventory icons remain normal, and items held in your hand are also normal Let me know if I've missed anything, or if you think something should be added/removed! Credit to @Dry Crackersfor the original idea + texture pack!
  13. A shorter elfess with paled honey eyes would find her vision quickly engulfed in bright, shimmering green. Plumes of pastel smog erupted from her frame akin to a small explosion; excitement jittering through her bones. "It has been far too long, Uncle."
  14. "Unity? I believe the war he mongered is referred to as the 'Silver Subjugation', and all they took was an empty village. Nevaehlen does ne, nor ever did, reside in his grasp. The land perhaps, but not the people or its culture." A tall, sunlit elfess would scoff in amusement, turning to a nearby elfess with glowing skin, "Besides, friendships are already being reformed between the Sea and Wood. The 'Ame have simply always preferred to keep away from the 'Thilln due to their unnecessarily antagonistic social hostility. Even if an elven Empire formed, it would not last forever. It never does."
  15. lil edit - last year or last month?
  16. Every time, I read comments and go "Nah I'm not gonna comment".. But I can't help myself. God please, someone give me an intervention.
  17. This is a pretty valid take. Honestly, I've flipped on this topic so many times idk where I stand. @Borin's response to me on Page 9 also brought up a key point - if this sort of behaviour is occurring OOC'ly, or players are specifically targeting characters due to homophobic opinions etc, it's absolutely going to result in warnings/bans majority of the time. I think at the moment I'm moreso considering what sort of direction do we want to take this server in? It has already begun developing into a safer space by banning countless amounts of problematic players permanently, and we are growing more and more adapt at noticing those behavioural patterns and removing them proactively. Do we want to take it a step further, and turn LotC into a 'safe space'? Or, as @Shorsand said above, can we trust our playerbase to create good-faith RP in the context of homophobia / racism etc. Most races have been racist towards each other since the server began. Where do we draw the line - is racism between races okay, but between subraces not okay? Then where do humans fit into this, considering their cultures are based on IRL cultures? If we ban subrace racism, what happens to the High Elves who are built upon that prejudice? In my opinion, "We don't crusade against Gays" is not a very valid take. Just because it isn't occurring currently doesn't mean it won't in the future. How would these sorts of extremist groups even foster good-faith RP, when their very purpose is just ruining other players' fun with little reason beyond "I don't like that you're married to another guy/girl, which doesn't actually affect me in any way, but it bothers me to know that". I'm not expecting groups like these to form, but you can't 100% claim they won't. I am also now going to sleep
  18. But can I marry another capitalist?
  19. Pretty sure it was just one bad egg. It would've been early-mid Almaris if anything, as I joined the community mid-late Almaris.
  20. Unfortunately, I'm pretty sure I saw one of those skins on a player's name.mc during Almaris. I think it was a military dress uniform that very heavily resembled it.
  21. Chill, my guy. I was quite literally just stating what their belief is - not defending it. My current high elf was quite literally a shapeshifting demon before the lore got stripped. She is anything but pure. I have always held issue with the comparisons to Nazi-ism, and I'm not entirely sure of how the high elf faith even began at the start of the server. I wouldn't be surprised if it had roots in the same mindset. I also wasn't part of their community when those skins were worn, and would have held issue with that and spoke out if I was present during that time. I'm not your enemy, my guy. I think a large issue w the Haelun'or Nation is how involved old-heads still are in it, to my knowledge. They have a very firm grip on the direction the Nation is led, and are included in private chats in the discord allegedly (I have been told this by Players previously in those chats). I have also been told in the past when my character was in the running for a Council Position in H'nor that the large reason she didn't get it was because those leaders + old players were worried that I, as a player, would not aid them in the vision they have for the Nation. Again, I don't know the truth of these claims, but I had a fairly reliable source. If that last paragraph is largely true, I unfortunately don't think Haelun'or will be capable of change to minimise those comparisons until it is properly handed over to a new generation. People are too attached.
  22. Can confirm, High Elf 'purity' has never been about their physical appearance and traits. Their purity is specifically of the blood and mind. The only reason they make note of physical appearances is because it's the easiest way to determine if someone comes from an 'unpure bloodline', aka have non high elf blood in them. There have definitely been more zealous characters who care about their physical traits, but the belief itself is of the blood and mind. My current opinion is that sexuality should just not belong in RP religions. It is quite possibly the easiest solution for all of this, and does permit RP conflict by having characters scour through the scrolls for mention of such an opposition, as you mentioned. However - I also hold concern with the outcry of the necessity of that form of RP at all. If players feel like their characters are being targeted or prosecuted due to their character's identity, then that shouldn't be allowed. I understand it may not be happening currently, but that does not mean it won't happen in the future. Didn't she get banned for toxicity or something
