  4. Jallen is referring to the rewrite that we currently have on standby because of an upcoming announcement by the LT that corrolates to do with Holy Magic. All the errors that the LT gave to us have been fixed within said rewrite and we're currently waiting for the announcement before we continue working on the rewrite. We don't know what said announcement is but we've been told to put the rewrite on standby until the announcement is out. Plus it's better to wait and see how the announcement will affect for the Ascended before we continue with the rewrite, else we'll likely write something that could go against said announcement and cause us to overhaul an idea we have already fleshed out. The current Ascended magic, the active one as of now, does have flaws but the one in the rewrite has been fixed. We're just waiting on this announcement from the LT. Furthermore, the most recent thread regarding the Ascended came out shortly after we were told to put the rewrite in standby but all the posts have been taken into consideration - although a majority have outlined issues that have been fixed within the rewrite alright. In regards to Ascended regenerating time, I meant the hours in OOC time. I apologise for not elaborating if its IC or not, but a majority of the Ascended leave their wounds to regenerate for an OOC hour or two. Jallentime went as far as to have his character's eye slowly regenerate over a 2-4 OOC Day period. Furthermore, don't forget there will be moments where an Ascended is wounded and leaves an area, and will not receive any roleplay. How do you expect an Ascended player to roleplay out their wounds healing when no one is present? An Ascended will leave the server to focus on other things and by then, yes their wounds will heal and time would have passed if you put into consideration how time works on the server. Furthermore, it depends on the severity of the wounds and it's hard for me to put into perspective how long it will take for a wound to heal due to the different sizes, depths, and other factors that need to be considered in regards to wounds. Minor wounds would take a few minutes OOC, whereas more major wounds would take a few OOC hours... but where is the line between a minor wound and a major wound, and there's the moderate wounds also. However, should an Ascended be instant-regenerating and it's clearly unfair, do report it to a staff member or another Ascended player so that we can at least talk to the person and get them to quit the instant-regeneration, else they will be let off the hook and may continue with such.
  5. This. This right here is something I want to highlight on as important and I advise everyone to read up on it. Elvira use to be a cleric and before she became a cleric, she was trained by Jistuma's character about alchemy. So when it came to healing someone, I literally used both alchemy and magic to heal, and it actually makes things easier from a RP perspective. I even taught multiple clerical students about using mundane and alchemical healing, as well as heavily advising them to balance out using mundane methods and magic. I'll use a scenario here to outline how a holy mage knowing mundane / alchemical healing can greatly change the situation. Your patient has a fatal wound that is bleeding heavily, as well as causing extreme pain to them. There are two options: Immediately summon your light and heal the whole wound, including pain and bleeding. Or you can use alchemical / mundane healing before you heal. Magic alone: By the time the cleric has brought out their light, the patient would have lost a fair amount of blood if the wound has not been pressured, resulting in the patient suffering from bloodloss (as clerics cannot restore back the blood within someone - only remove the effects temporarily until the effects come back an hour later, as the patient is still missing blood). Even more, should the patient be bleeding in multiple areas or has already lost a large amount of blood before the cleric arrived - the chances of them dying increase at each second passing, so by the time a cleric has their light summoned, the patient may die. With Alchemical / mundane healing assisting: Place a liquified version of Tippen's root on the wound(s) that are bleeding, which near-instantly ceases the bleeding and allows a more effective view of the wound. Should the cleric also have this: Press some Blissfoil on the wound to cease the pain and make the patient more comfortable as you get ready to summon your light. Should neither be avaliable, a cleric can apply pressure to the wound or have someone else do such, there's also the method of a tourniquet (Essentially: Wrap a rag tightly above the wound in order to cut off blood flow in the veins, to stop the bleeding and buy time. By using this method, there's a heightened chance that the patient will survive and will not bleed to death, as the dangers have been treated (or at least reduced) and the cleric has enough time to close the wound before any further damage is done. As you can see, the latter option is more suited, but it does depend on if the healer knows the regents or has the knowledge on how to treat particular wounds and injuries. Which in turn encourages the healer to learn about Alchemy and Healing, and can provide more roleplay than just relying on magic. Furthermore, a cleric's light heavily tires them which can be extremely serious if there are multiple injured but only one cleric at the scene, so being able to balance out both mundane healing and magical healing is extremely vital and useful. Use mundane / alchemical for smaller wounds, but use a combination of both mundane and magical to handle more severe and life threatening wounds. I still do it for Ascended magic, given that I'm now taking a wound onto myself - may as well at least treat the wound and ensure its in a better condition than just immediately taking the wound on as its bleeding. So I can vouch in stating that using mundane methods and holy magic - whenever it be cleric, paladin, ascended, etc - is really effective and I love to see many using Alchemy and Mundane more. Personally to me - holy healing should not be heavily nerfed, as a majority of the healing do have consenquences if you consider how a lack of fatigue, or having to slowly wait for a wound to regenerate can impact scenarios and endanger the healers. But instead, we should be encouraging holy healers to think outside of just using their magic, as it should not always be a first call... since even magic has it flaws and time can be a healer's worse enemy.
  6. Just posting an FYI here regarding Ascended Healing. Ascended don't even heal the wound - they take it on themselves, meaning that said Ascended will face the consequences of having that wound for 1-2 hours, where a lot can happen and essentially **** up said Ascended. Example: Elvira takes someone's broken leg and she now needs to relax or move herself to somewhere safe for a few hours due to how badly wounded the bones are. An enemy comes in while she's regenerating - Elvira = Easy target due to hindering to leg movement and the fact she can still cause damage to her own leg as its regenerating + regeneration ceases when in a battle scenario, so my character is stuck with a semi-healed leg until I die or I get out of that scenarion === Ascended can take on curses that is binded to an Descendant's soul, which in turn places the Ascended in the scenario where they will face to suffer the curses effects for a decent amount of hours. So we still face the side effects of a curse until the regeneration destroys the curse completely. Example: Elvira takes a Soul Puppetry curse from someone and onto her soul template. The Soul Puppeter can now manipulate Elvira for an hour or two, essentially meaning they can still cause a great amount of damage to my character or those around her. In the space of that period - all hell can break lose if the Soul Puppeter decides to do something. TL:DR Yes we can regenerate but depending on the severity, a small wound would take minutes, a more severe wound would take a fair amount of hours. Severe wounds never take a couple of minutes to heal, and furthermore - an Ascended's regeneration shuts down completely during a combat scenario, so we can't just heal as we fight and we can still get our backsides handed to us. Therefore the Ascended already hold a set of consequences.

  9. I did not want to get into this but given by the level of bickering and the fact there's no middle ground, I'm grudgingly writing this. Instead of arguing on who is right or wrong here and tearing at each others throats, we instead focus on the future. The Ascended lore is being rewritten and it will be up to the LT and MT to decide if said rewrite is to be passed. Every group has its bad eggs, there's no denying that. We all do the wrong actions, based on what we perceive as right. Yes, perhaps some members of the Ascended order can be idiotic at times, but from my view, their actions were relatively just compared to what another sect of Ascended were planning. I know Fid and his group are decent people and they wanted to try something new, but by the rules the Ascended follow in RP, what they wanted could not be achieved without facing disconnection. We can't always get what we want and even if we try, there are consequences that will need to be faced. Also, if any person powergame or clearly does something wrong on the server and you see them doing it - it is your responsibility to alert the staff and raise the matter at hand. Don't just wait for a forum post like this to come so that you can post it on here. You wonder why the matter of powergaming, being overpowered, or whatever is rulebreaking is not getting resolved and is causing more issues - consider the fact that by not alerting the staff, that is exactly how a person gets away with that stuff. By default, you are second-hand assisting that person in getting away with the rule breaking by allowing them to. So those not alerting the staff are just as responsible than the person actually breaking the rules. Instead of just stating 'remove Ascended' like the staff will literally do it, because at this rate - those who keep posting the topics and the status about it won't actually get it and are just making an idiot of themselves, how about we all focus on what we really need to focus on and let the Ascended do their own thing. Because at this point, something is being done, but just having these votes, status, and posts about removing isn't doing anyone any good and is only causing more drama than it is of solving it. So let's all just take a deep breath and just move on from this. The past is in the past but learn from it, and let's focus ahead and ensure we don't mess around on anything else. I've had enough of this Ascended drama and I want to just get back to roleplaying with people, no more being gank-squadded, being talked about behind my back purely because of what Ascended group my character is a part of and who I OOCly associate myself with, and so on. IC targetting? That's fine, it's RP - Just have a proper good and interesting excuse for coming after my character. But OOC reasons and you using IC as a way to rub the salt into my apparent wounds? That's just being salt. This is to both sides of this, not one or the other. Both of you. Also: I didn't hold any direct involvement with whatever issues were going on and only wanted to just roleplay as my character, but with the constant drama between both sides - God help me so when the stress kicked in from that and the constant "we hate Ascended", "Vote yay or nay for Ascended magic" shittery stuff going around.   10. Aeriel already has a group of people under her, which are the Ascended. There is literally no reason for Aeriel to interfere with the mortal realm further by creating a new group when she has the Ascended doing her duty on the mortal realm. Furthermore, this is way out of character for Aeriel to do such as she would never take away the soul of a newborn unless it is their fate for them to die, or have her servants kill people because of bad intentions said people may have, the Ascended cannot even lay a finger on Descendants so why should these maidens be able to commit mass murder on Descendants. Lastly, we have frost witches already and there's no need for a group exactly like them, and Aeriel would not dare make a group be much like them

  13. (Art by me) The Tonitrua Habitat: Savannah and Forests - They live within forests but venture to savannahs during dry season to absorb electricity from the thunderstorms that occur there. Size: The Tonitrua tend to be around 40 – 65 cm in terms of length when fully grown, with their long tails adding up most of their length. Their main wingspan are roughly 74 – 120 cm while their secondary wingspan are roughly ( for an adult). It takes at least a year (one OOC week) for a newborn Tonitrua to become fully grown. [To compare them to other birds: the Tonitura is roughly the same size as a peregrine falcon]. Diet: Tonitruas are omnivores, meaning they eat both meat and fruits, although their diet is leaning more on meats. They tend to hunt down smaller mammals, birds, and insects through the use of their ability to generate small electric shocks to paralyse their prey and sustain themselves. These birds also tend to eat berries once in a while should they be unable to gain any meat. However, the most curious part of their diet is their need to consume electricity from the sky during storms, to keep themselves energised and alive. A Tonitrua can hold up enough electricity that can last it up to three months before running out and needing more. Temperament: Tonitruas are notoriously shy and timid birds, avoiding Descendants and larger creatures the best they can when they are out hunting alone. This is likely due to these birds holding the ability to recognise and understand emotions, understanding when someone is upset or angry so they do their best to avoid them. Yet when with their coven, these birds become braver against larger foes who dare to come too close to a Tonitura nest. The birds will lash out in a blinding fury to defend their home and their young with their lives. If tamed, a Tonitura loses its shyness to larger beings and can develop its own personality. This bird will hold undying loyalty towards the person who tamed or befriended it. If their companion is under attack, the bird will strike the enemy with simple shocks (which to a normal descendant will only be like an annoying pinch on the skin). However, this bird will still take care of itself, even if tamed. Brief summary of the creature A Tonitrua is a small golden bird that bears four wings and a very long tail. It holds darker mane-like feathers running along its neck and down its spine, giving it a rather lion-esque look to it. Gold only appears to be the single colour a Tonitrua takes, although its eye colour can vary from yellow to green to blue, and even red in some cases. However, this bird loses these colours and become white if its ill or lacking electricity in its body, signifying that its life is in danger and needs help. A fully charged up Tonitrua tends to gain a blue tint to its feathers when it’s charging up the electricity within it for an attack through using its tail. The bird’s feathers and skin are resistant to lightning, and the bird holds a special organ that allows the creature to absorb and unleash very small jolts of electricity throughout its body. Characteristic: (Behaviour, Reproduction, Gathering food) A Tonitrua tends to stay with a group of Tonitruas, which is referred to as a ‘Thundering of Tonituras”, within forests located near savannahs. A Thundering is led by the alpha of the group but every member is expected to play their part in taking care of each other, whenever it’s by ensuring chicks are taken care of and given simple jolts of electricity to sustain themselves, or by defending the nest from enemies. If a Tonitrua is unable to gain enough electricity to keep itself energized, the Thundering will send shocks into the bird to help it gain the amount it needs. Sometimes a Tonitrua Fledging that can fly will leave its nest to start a new Thundering, going to the Savannahs to gain a mate and start a new group. This is quite common as there are many Thunderings located in large forests near to the Savannahs. During spring, when violent thunderstorms occur within the nearby Savannah, this begins the breeding season where males compete for a female in the Thundering. While older Tonitruas remain behind to tend to eggs that have not hatched, the more younger Tonitura adults migrate to the Savannah. Male Tonituras try to get a female’s attention through who can take in the most electricity during the storm season. The more vibrant and blue a Tonitrua is due to how much electricity is absorbed by it, the more likely that bird will win the female’s attention. The two birds soon get together and an egg is brought forth into the world. However, males are also common to fight each other should one get the female another wanted, often battling the other in the sky until one of them is knocked out and the victor gains the female. When it comes to gathering food, a Tonitrua goes alone to hunt but uses its unique ability to generate shocks to its advantage. The bird can lash out with its tail and strike smaller opponents, using its ability to generate a shock from the tail and into its prey, causing them to become paralysed temporarily and fall to the ground. This shock does not kill, but instead allows the Tonitrua time to swoop in and kill its prey. However, the Tonitrua needs to be careful as generating too much electricity will gradually weaken it and will cause it to need another boost of electricity. To tame or befriend a Tonitrua, there are two simple methods: The first is to take an egg from the Thundering’s nest and raise the bird yourself, although this is risky as while a single Tonitrua’s shock is harmless, multiple shocks from many of the birds can leave you with some serious burns and scratches. The second method is by befriending or aiding a lone Tonitrua fledling, who had just let its parental Thundering to head off on its own. If the bird is helped or treated from any injuries, the bird will form a bond with the person who aided it and will deem them a member of its Thundering. Sometimes the bird may not recognise its companion as the leader, but instead itself, but is still loyal to the person who aided it. When it comes to taking care of a Tonitrua, it is important to remember these birds require electricity to keep themselves sustained. Newly hatched Tonitruas are often fed a soft mix between berries and meat, before later being moved up to solids. To keep the baby sustained on electricity, the owner can simply place the hatchlings outside during a thunderstorm and keep the bird company while the little bird’s system will begin absorbing in the electricity in the air. Tonitruas who are kept in cages are more likely to die due to being unable to fly in thunderstorms and gain the energy they need, resulting in their majestic golden colours fading and then death. It is always crucial to allow the bird free roam but those who are friends with the bird do not have to worry about it flying away - the bird will not leave them unless asked to stay in a location or runs away due to being mistreated. Origin: No one knows for certain how these birds came to be or how they gained their secondary wings or electrical abilities. Some estimate that the Aspects gave these birds these traits to make them well equip to their surroundings, other say it happened when a small bird was struck by lightning and was changed into a Tonitrua. Weaknesses: A Tonitrua needs electricity from thunderstorms to keep itself alive every three months (three ooc days) and if it doesn’t gain enough electricity or is prevented from gaining such, the bird slowly loses its golden colour and falls ill. Within another month, the bird will die. Due to its small size, a Tonitrua can be easily taken down by a much larger opponent and its shocks will not harm larger enemies. Due to a Tonitrua’s feather being noticeably beautiful and golden, they are hunted down for these feathers which are sold at high prices. These feathers are often fashioned into quills or accessories. If a Tonitrua loses its tail, it also loses its ability to send out shocks as the tail serves as the main conduct for sending shocks out. However, the bird can still absorb electricity normally. LM Approval Required: No If playable, what are redlines? A Tonitrua’s electrical shock cannot cause any damage to any other characters, its shock is only strong enough to cause a simple pinching pain wherever the person is struck. A Tonitrua will need electricity to keep itself sustained, this can include normal electricity from thunderstorms. Voidal electricity will not sustain the bird as the electricity will need to return to the void once the connection is closed. If you mistreat your Tonitrua (such as harming it, locking it up, not giving it electricity, not feeding it, etc) - your bird will fly away and will not return to you. A sentence alone does not fully explain. Race: A halfling is not a half human, half elf. he halflings are in fact a race of very small people who focus on a very laidback and peaceful life and focus more on farming and having fun. Think of the Halflings from Lord of the Rings. I believe the proper term you are looking for is Half Elf, not halfling. Therefore either change your character's race to Half Elf, or perhaps make them into a halfling. Biography: You need to expand more on your character's biography, such as where she was born, what certain events happened to him, etc. This is where you flesh out your character and explain how they became the person they are the moment you start playing them on the server. I also suggest explaining where her parents are, what her goals are, and what skills he acquired - such as if he's most skilled in one area or weak in another. Be aware you will need to include one or more piece of LotC lore within your biography, such as city names, etc, and a few sentences will not work so do try and write at least a paragraph about your character's backstory. Skin: Just curious but why does your character wear a green monster hat? I advise explaining the reason why in the backstory, since it is a very unique trait and would certainly be a tale worth explaining to other characters if your application is accepted. Aside from that, you got the basics of the application down. Remember, you have 24 hours to make the requested changes on your application. When you are done with the edits, simply post a comment on your application and tag me through @farryn or by PMs - that way, I will know you have made the edits and want the application reviewed again.

Character Name: Your username is not a vaild name for your character, please choose a more suitable name for your character which fits their race. There are many online name generators that you can use to get a unique name. I highly, highly doubt Jade would call your character an extremely weird name that includes a number in it. Biography: I highly recommend you do not use the 'village was attacked by orcs' scenario, as many applications in the past have used this scenario and it has become extremely cliche on the server, therefore think of a different scenario for your character. Your character cannot have or be influenced by any form of magic - meaning you cannot have your character starting off with using magic, radiating a magical aura, or being majorly influenced by magic. Furthermore, there is no form of runes that can change your character's race, meaning your character must stick to the race that they were born as. There are many plotholes with your character's biography - there is no explaination as to what happened to his family, how he lost his memories, where he was born, how he aquired his combat skills, and so forth. Furthermore, why is his birthday marked on his body? That to me just seems to be written in just so the character knows his birthday. Please fix the biography so that it makes sense and goes in depth regarding how your character grew up, what they learnt in terms of skills, and what happened to them which made them the person they are now. You must include one or more piece of LotC lore within your biography. This can include names of cities, cultures, etc. Facts Your character cannot radiate a demonic aura - it is not allowed. Please avoid making your character an assassin - there is no indication in his biography which explains why he's an assassin, how he is trained to be an assassin, and so forth. It has become very cliche for new players to apply for an assassin based character, therefore please avoid in making your character such. Once again - your character cannot be a human who is turned into a halfling. You can reapply within three hours.

I suggest including an example of powergaming and metagaming through the use of a roleplay scenario so that I know you understand these definitions clearly, along with an explanation of how it doesn't benefit RP. Biography: You need to expand more on your character's biography, such as where he was born, what certain events happened to him, etc. This is where you flesh out your character and explain how they became the person they are the moment you start playing them on the server. I also suggest explaining how his parents died (why was his father sentenced to death?), what his goals are, and what skills he acquired. Be aware you will need to include one or more piece of LotC lore within your biography, such as city names, etc. Punctuation and Grammar: Please work on your punctuation and grammar within your application so that it is more easier for me to read up the changes. Aside from that, you got the basics of the application down. Remember, you have 24 hours to make the requested changes on your application. When you are done with the edits, simply post a comment on your application and tag me through @farryn or by PMs - that way, I will know you have made the edits and want the application reviewed again.

Instead, go for a common name that suits the setting, such as John, Alexander, etc. Skin - I suggest you do not make your skin resemble a Harbringer or Darkstalker, but instead resemble that of human. Biography - You need to expand more on your character biography by explaining how your character became the person they are now and what major events happened to them. Be aware you will need to include one or more piece of LotC lore. You can make another application in 6 hours.
