You know those really weird symbols you get when you open a text file in notepad that was meant to have some other program open it?
If your assignment is file based then just make a file with that name and paste in the weird text a few times, send it in and act like nothing happened until you're asked about it and then play confused. Unless your teacher is really tech savvy you should be able to convince them it was an error on the computer's part.
