Nexus itself was both a blessing and a curse. People whined about it, however instead of blanket improvements and consistently checking in with the community it was removed. The skill aspect of it made trade have more of an impact on the server’s playerbase itself, however other aspects of the system caused a lot of dismay within the community. What I liked about it mainly was that when you reached 3000 hours played on a character you unlocked the ability to use every profession under the sun- this gave me more of a reason to log on daily even if it was to just cash in my crafts then start up another batch, and in most times it led to areas having more activity because people around you would get into RP more if there were people online.
There was also the aspect of meaningful alliances when it came to wars other than just doing it for sheer numbers or because of how good their pvpers were. People had allies that could make more powerful weapons than they could, and in return they would trade other things with them in order to ensure that both sides were getting something beneficial from it. The only downside that I saw with the professions was how insanely powerful Alchemy potions were- namely Stoneskin and Alchemist’s Fire being the main powerhouses of wars.
