it fucking sucks after running through a couple haelun'or elections i (personally, nonobjectively) despise the system because i think it fosters a really toxic group mentality and endorses people who are most popular, or most oocly organized, rather than roleplay or competency. I saw what it was like to elect an unpopular opponent and it to devolve into a really toxic (on both sides) situation that was entirely OOC, when on an actual OOC level these people had nothing against one another. obviously most of us are adults and have the mental capacity to move past that and have, but I strongly think that democracies aren't done and don't work for the reason that it's mostly ooc piloted and driven. Although all my work/effort/time put into a nonelective Renatus was practically wasted when yoppl undid it and killed the nation, it felt even worse for it to crumble just the same afterward when I was in leadership of Haelun'or to watch it completely tank in activity and presence because of all the spite and anger which was so silly to place there in the first place. I love the folks now that were there and look back upon them and that time fondly for the couple of fun rp moments there were amongst discord arguments, purges, deletions, lockdowns, and tense vcs. It's so silly it got there in the first place, but I 110% purely think that is strictly due to the fact that a minecraft democracy enabled that animosity to burn in the first place because of the cliquism it endorses. I've never experienced before or after those events anything even remotely similar to what happened then. But coups and ooc plots are just the quintessential highelf experience so maybe my experience is isolated.

Shelving is always a last-ditch-effort when a lore has no other option available. All actions like asking to fix, helping to fix, or restricting further use until its fixed, would be taken before shelving something flat-out. More info on that is in the thread below.
-
Not for the time being no, although that may change months down the road if no improvement is in sight and the magics are causing issues for players in their roleplay.

The former disparity between "Event Race" "Event Creature" and "Creature" have been just molded to one they pretty much had the same format, and the distinction is in the details. So the new Creature Submissions format, which largely borrows from the latter two, covers any/all nonplayable creatures. From my experience in lore writing (writing six guides for lorepieces) it really is not that big of an ask. From my experience in enforcing or following lore through activity trials, no matter how un-flowery you may make your lore, players always consistently proclaim the lore is confusing. This is compoundedly bad when the guide has copy-pasted the lore because of writer laziness. In general, this new criteria for guides massively reduces the work and simplifies it to something more akin to the Musin guide, which just in simple terms and short paragraphs explains how you roleplay the creature, and what is critical to know. No lore currently accepted accounts for that and just gives you everything at equal, front-facing value. I know it can be irritating getting a piece through pending, then having to write a dumbed-down explanation of it, but truly it isn't that much work for what prevents a ton of headache in the future. absolutely not as the vast majority of our currently accepted lore fits into this criteria already

Soon, got someone managing the project finishing up and tailoring the last details of it before publishing.

Hey everyone! It's about time for a short and sweet Story Team Update. This update covers the long needed update of Lore Criteria. Finished in July and in team review until mid November, we've wanted to make sure this is a bulletproof, total criteria which fully explains every aspect of how we look at lore, why we do it that way, and how you can use that to your best advantage. To be frank, the previous system was entirely incorrect and holds countless incorrect details which deeply frustrate the ST, and have for some time. General Criteria Updates General Criteria covers the topics about mechanics in lore. These are things like balancing, spell-types, limits on these spells, things to include, and so on. It consists of the following topics. Ability Types Ability Components Combat/Summoned Pets & Mounts Guides CA Race Groupings Special Lore Locations/Artifacts Default Magic Progression Explanation Topic Updates Explanation Topics covers the topics regarding mostly how ST view certain subjects in lore, and what we have found best in that regard. We've spent a long time observing and massively overhauling lore and our standards over the last couple years, seeing what works and what doesn't- these topics mostly cover those observations, and how we came to them. The subforum consists of the following topics. Connection & Disconnection Lore Structures & Environment Warping The Glass Cannon Mentality Boons & Banes The Lore Web Lore Variants Techlock & Magi-Tech Healing Bad Lore Power Sources Submission Criteria Submission Criteria is primarily the format for lorepieces. In the past, most of them were unfinished or difficult to navigate, and even on release, not up to date with standards. We've removed lore submission types for those we have already not been receiving (New core races, deity submissions, world event submissions) and added those which have been lacking; namely Creatures, Flora, Alchemy, and Guides. The list consists of the following. Magic & Feat Submissions CA Race Submissions Alchemy & Further Alchemy Submissions Resource Submissions Historical/Legend Submissions Location Submissions Technology Submissions Flora/Herb Submissions Event Creature Submissions General Information Threads General Information Threads serve as a explanation as to the backface of lore and how Story Team manages so. As well, concepts like Lore Surgery, Amendments, The Loremag Process, and so on. Take a look at the two threads below. Story Team Oversight Story Team Resources Feel free to take a look at them all in Lore Criteria and Submissions. As well, please discuss any thoughts you might have in the Story Team Discord. Have a great one guys! A thank you to @TheWanRing, @Valannor, @Panashea, @Jaelon, @Taylor, @Melpomenne, @Nooblius, @Sorcerio, @yandeer, @Pompilidae, and @Kalehart for your thorough review and contribution to this rewrite. Your insightful feedback is what has made it possible.

Shelved for redundancy. Lore has long been replaced with the Orc racial lore found here. If you believe this is a mistake, please contact Story Team.
