FOREWORD The Courts are as old as time within many places. The announcement of etiquette, fashion and many a balls come from these. It is with great jubilance we announce the official creation of the Sedanite Court beneath Princess Augustina De Joannes. Hailing from the Kingdom of Balian, she went on to marry the Crown Prince of Sedan, Joseph De Joannes and is now taking her role within the Court to a new level as she creates something meant for the generations to come! The Princess Council The Princess Council consists of four individuals who are close confidants of the Princess. They assist in what matters she may need, speaking in meetings, coordinating what is needed and the like. These four individuals, of course, are appointed by the Princess herself. The Grand Lady The Grand Lady is the highest ranking court position; they are an individual that oversees the court in its entirety alongside that of the Royal family themselves. Tasked with setting the example, they are expected to keep up and set the standard for those to follow. They ensure the court is running smoothly with all the essentials it may need, this including procurement, logistics and staff management. The Lord Marshal Every castle has its day to day needs, such as the deliverance of letters, the looking after of the Horses and other varying forms of travel and the like. The Lord Marshal oversees this, alongside the security of the castle. The posting of guards, securement of palace wings and safety shall they go on hunts. Tasked with the safety of day to day castle life, it is an important position meant to protect the sanctity of the palace and the De Joannes family alike. They may appoint Launderers to help them in their day to day duties, as well. The procurement of cloth and contacting of tailors is up to their discretion, ensuring those within the palace, namely the Royal family is well-dressed. The Court Governess The Court Governess or Governor is a position in charge of the education of the next generation within the Palace, namely the Royal family. Charged with the teaching of etiquette, horse-riding and the like, they are individuals that ensure the prosperity and intelligence of our next generation. They are to hold lessons, teaching those the finer arts of Court life and may find themself asked to teach on varying subjects, for the Royals and the occasional noble allike. The Court Scribe The Court Scribe is an individual or multiple individuals who are meant to sit in on meetings and take notes of the happenings. Should Court be happening, they are in charge of writing up a transcript that may be looked upon later. Alongside this is the authoring of history, writing down varying happenings to go within the libraries. An important position for educational matters of our next generation. The Court Mage The Court Mage is a magical position, as is in the name. Responsibilities may vary with each individual, depending on their craft. The securement and magical protection of the Royal family is certainly a must, while for more aesthetic purposes, a show of magical delights to entertain the court might be called upon. It allows time to celebrate the craft of magic. The Court Alchemist The Court Alchemist is an individual tasked with the creation of potions and other alchemical wares that the Royal Family may keep on them for day to day ventures. Whether it be a potion of Fume of Songs, for an impromptu orchestra for the Courts dancing delight or a Smoke bomb for an escape during court, their work is a dedicated and respected one. The Court Minstrel The Court Minstrel is in charge of the conducting of music and bringing forth entertainment before the Courts. How they choose to do so is up to their own volition, should a Jester be brought forth or they lead an Orchestra during a ball. The amusement of the Courts is upon them! The Court Goat Caretaker The Church Goat Caretaker is very much within the name. Should one look upon Sedan, that of Goats often come to mind. This individual or individuals are in charge of the upkeep of said Goats. The careful grooming and feeding taking a priority within the Courts, alongside the health of our fluffy friends. A Lady-in-Waiting A Lady-in-Waiting is a position that is meant in aiding a higher up Lady of the Courts and that of the Princesses themselves. The position's duties can vary, as the needs of each Lady or Highness may vary as well. Most often, though, you will see them aiding their Lady in meetings, acting as a Confidant in times of need and e scorting them in varying events and travels. A Page A Page is much akin to a Lady-in-Waiting, though in particular for males. They assist in aiding the higher up Lords of the Courts and that of the Princes. Much like mentioned before, the position’s duties can vary, as the needs of each Lord or Highness may vary as well. Most often, though, you will see them aiding their Lord in meetings, acting as a Confidant or escorting them in varying events and travels. A Court Ward A Court Ward is an individual who hasn’t met with the age of majority yet. They may be brought on under any roles within the Court, learning the duties and responsibilities of these individuals. Often tasked with aiding in the setup of events, or that of varying miscellaneous tasks, they are the next generation of the Courts. A Court Servant A Court Servant is relatively cut and dry. Their work is assigned, whether it be to work within the kitchens to provide food for an upcoming ball or to see to the tending and cleanliness of the Royals chambers. Their work is an important one, seeing to that day to day upkeep of the Palace. A Courtier A Courtier is a frequent visitor of the Palace. Oftentimes nobles, they’d visit and be aware of the most frequent going-ons. Whether this is to attend Court, or a ball, they are those faces you see near everyday.
