Lorelei Mairi stood at the threshold of Cliffhaven Hall, her heart heavy with the weight of sorrow. The news of her Aunt Calliope's passing had struck a chord deep within her, even though their relationship had never been particularly close. As she slipped into her mourning gown, its fabric felt like a shroud of dread wrapping around her. With each step along the path to Enswerp, memories flickered like candlelight in her mind. She recalled the carefree days of her youth, when laughter mingled with the mud of the fields, and her Aunt Calliope had insisted she scrub away the dirt and present herself as a proper lady. Those lessons, though stern, had been laced with love—a love Lorelei now recognized amidst her grief. As she ascended the small hill, the fields stretched before her, vibrant yet muted by her sorrow. Reaching the Church of Saint Calliope, she traced her fingers over the marble sign, the name "Calliope" etched in stone, almost as if it were a whispered message from beyond. It was a reminder of the legacy her aunt had left, a legacy she now felt compelled to honor. Inside the church, the air was thick with reverence. Lorelei washed her hands at the basin, the cool water a momentary balm against her heartache. Kneeling at the altar, she bowed her head in prayer, seeking solace and strength for her aunt's journey into the unknown. With each whispered word, she felt the weight of what lay ahead—the family dynamics, the memories to cherish, and the resolve to carry forth Calliope's spirit. In that sacred space, Lorelei vowed to embrace both the grief and the gratitude, a duality that would guide her through the days to come.

The Countess of Enswerp rubbed her forehead, pushing aside the blueprints for the new Hamlet of Enswerp as a servant delivered a missive. "It will be lovely to see my cousin Cecily again... It has been so many years. But this 'Prince' Edward..." She glanced at her husband, Roan. "What are your thoughts? Is it worth our while to attend?" With a deep sigh, she placed the letter on her cluttered desk, her mind drifting to her grandfather, King John, and all he had sacrificed for Aaun.

– AN ANNOUNCEMENT OF THE TRIPLETS – The 3rd of The Grand Harvest, 1999 THE COMMITAL HOUSE OF ALSTION-ENSWERP is delighted to share the news of their most recent additions to the line, a trio of all daughters. Their eldest daughter: HER LADYSHIP, LUCREZIA AGNISE @Itz_Cookie, born with black hair from her paternal bloodline and eyes with a striking resemblance to her mothers, one unseeing as a firstborn daughter of her great-grandmother’s Amelya’s lineage. Another to note is that the Lady bears a resemblance to her maternal grandmother regarding her appearance. Their second born daughter: HER LADYSHIP, SUNNHILD ADELAIS @hemomancy, with light brown hair that resembles her maternal great-grandmother's Amelya, and the light blue eyes of her father. The lady has been one to not respond to the sounds of her parents, as well as being born with a sixth digit on each hand. Their third born daughter: HER LADYSHIP, LORELEI AMELYA @beetle, named for both her mother and great-grandmother, with the brown hair of her mother and the eyes of her father. It has been noted that her sight is poorer than her siblings, and with a misshapen foot that may affect her future mobility. While the house has been blessed with the three, the birth of the triplets was a difficult and grueling endeavor for the Countess, being bound in bed with fever for months before the birth. While Lorelei continues to recover and the babes be checked for any residuals due to their mothers sickness, in a later year a ball will be held to celebrate the triplets and their mothers recovery and good-health. To continue celebrating the girls' lives, the triplets shall be baptised within the Church of Saint Calliope as their brother was, marking the beginning of their individual journeys surrounded by friends, family, and their joyous community. The Committal House looks forward to sharing these precious moments with all who hold them dear. The journey of childbirth was particularly challenging for the Countess, yet her strength and resilience have shone through during this remarkable time. Once she and the baby have fully recovered, a grand festival will be held at Cliffhaven Hall, celebrating not only the arrival of Caspian but also honoring the traditions Lorelei herself experienced at her own birth. In a fitting tribute to this new life, the young lord will be baptised at the esteemed Church of Saint Calliope, nestled within the picturesque County of Enswerp. Her Royal Majesty, Andromeda Ester of Ba’as, Queen Mother of Balian 1896-1996 "Are you ready to set sail, my dears?" the elderly Queen Andromeda asked those gathered around her, her voice warm and determined. She gripped the ship's rope, which was older than she was. "Are you sure this boat is safe to sail, Meda?" asked the youngest Rhenyari girl, her concern clear as she loaded the last bag on board. "This boat took me from Almaris to Aveos, back to Ba'as to see my mother one last time, and finally to Balian. I assure you, my dears, that this old ship can take us back to Ba'as one last time." Andromeda smiled. "But the seas might be rough. We will be fine." From the remains of Whitespire, the elderly Queen and her two wards set sail for Ba'as, where Andromeda hoped to spend her last days on the ground of her birth. Andromeda had been away from Ba'as for sixty-seven years, and her last encounter with her own people felt like a distant memory. Throughout her life, she had been a wife, mother, queen, and, in her opinion, a failure. She married Prince Hadrian and settled in the capital of Balian, where their marriage was widely celebrated. Andromeda took her role as Princess of Monterosa seriously, hosting numerous balls and feasts. She went on to become Queen shortly after. Andromeda's reign as Queen was unprecedented. She was instrumental in building the new capital and lifting the spirits of her people, drawing on her personal experiences as a traveler from Ba'as. Despite her accomplishments, she never felt at ease or welcome. By 1950, Andromeda had publicly condemned her husband. Her open letter elicited polarized reactions from the Balianese court, and while many mocked her, she gained international sympathy. In response, King Adrian I promptly filed for divorce, depriving her of her titles and casting her out as a former queen. After her accusations, she fled to Aaun. Andromeda lived in Aaun for nearly forty-two years, a period of solitude. Visitors were rare, and when they did arrive, she felt they were there out of obligation rather than desire. She tucked her crown and gowns away before retiring to her room to reflect on what she believed would be her final years. When Aaun was consumed by flames, Andromeda knew it was time to return home. Determined, she gathered her two wards and began planning their journey back to Ba'as. As Andromeda and her two wards set sail for Ba'as, a glimmer of hope flickered in her heart, like a beacon in the midst of the approaching storm. The sky darkened ominously, and the waves began to swell like a ferocious beast, violently tossing their small vessel against the turbulent sea. Despite her years of experience navigating treacherous waters, she felt an overwhelming sense of dread. The boat creaked and groaned under the wind's pressure, and salty spray mixed with rain lashed against them. The storm became more ferocious with each passing moment, leaving little room for hope as lightning ripped through the sky. "Hold on tight, my dears!" Andromeda shouted, her voice strained but steady as she gripped the ship's sides. The youngest of her wards clung to her arm, eyes wide with terror. "Meda, what if we don't make it?" she exclaimed, panic rising in her voice. Andromeda turned to face her, summoning all of her courage. "We'll make it. Please stay close to me. Remember the strength we've found in each other," she reassured, attempting to instill calm in the midst of chaos. As the storm raged, Andromeda fought to keep her wards grounded, her heart racing with fear and determination. Suddenly, a massive wave crashed over the deck, causing water to pour in and the ship to tilt precariously. "We have to move!" Andromeda insisted, her voice rising above the storm. The boat began to sink, sending panic through her as she struggled to keep her wards safe. "Stay together! We can do this!" she exclaimed, her eyes searching for any glimmer of hope among the chaos. When the ship finally succumbed to the merciless sea, Andromeda felt a chilling grip of despair. "Hold onto me!" she exclaimed, clutching both girls tightly as they were thrown into the warm water. "We'll swim for the shore!" The waves separated them, and Andromeda's heart raced as she struggled to keep them together. "Swim! Keep swimming!" she urged, struggling against the swell. However, the current was strong, pulling them in various directions. She reached out for her wards, desperation washing over her as she shouted their names. Stay with me! "Do not let go!" However, the ocean's grip was merciless, and she soon felt the warmth of the water around her, but her wards' laughter and cries faded. After what seemed like an eternity of battling the waves, Andromeda washed ashore alone, collapsing onto the sandy beach and gasping for air as the storm raged behind her. "No…" she whispered, a sense of despair settling in. She turned back to the sea, her heart aching from the weight of her loss. With renewed strength, Andromeda rose and staggered toward the familiar path that led to her ancestral palace. The warm breeze caressed her skin, but it felt empty without the laughter of her wards beside her. As she approached the palace, memories flooded her mind, bringing back echoes of her childhood and the joy of laughter, which now felt distant. When she finally entered the grand hall, her gaze fell on a lovely statue of her mother, Princess Daria, standing gracefully beside her father, Vasilis Lyraide. The intricately carved figures captured their essence: her mother's gentle smile and her father's proud stature exudes warmth, which enveloped Andromeda. A wave of realization washed over her. She had spent her entire life striving to meet expectations, always feeling as if she fell short of being the queen and daughter they had envisioned. However, as she studied the statue, she realized something profound: they had always been proud of her—not for her titles or achievements, but for her strength, resilience, and love. Andromeda felt a strong connection to them, a sense of belonging that overshadowed her mistakes and regrets. Despite having traveled far from Ba'as and faced numerous trials, their spirit remained with her, guiding her through the darkest storms. In that bittersweet moment, she realized she was more than the characters she had played; she was a daughter forged in the fires of adversity, and her heart carried the legacy of her parents' love and pride. As she stood in front of the statue, tears streamed down her cheeks, blending sorrow with newfound understanding. Though she would never fully escape the weight of her past, their presence comforted her and reminded her that she was finally home. With a final, shuddering breath, Andromeda made a silent promise to honor their legacy, finding comfort in the knowledge that she had always been enough. As she lay down in the room where she was born, surrounded by the echoes of her past, Andromeda felt an overwhelming peace settle over her, mingled with deep sorrow. In her final moments, as the sun dipped below the horizon, painting the sky with hues of gold and crimson, Andromeda’s heart, heavy with loss, finally found solace in the place that had always been her true home. Her breath grew shallow, and with a final whisper, she uttered, “I am never free…” A tear slipped down her cheek as she closed her eyes, the spirit of Ba’as welcoming her home at last, cradling her in its embrace, even as she mourned the absence of her beloved wards.

— 10th of First Seed of 1994 — The Curia has appointed Lorelei Mairi as the new Countess of Enswerp. Her Ladyship recently conferred with His Holiness and Clover Cardinal Mount Lemon to discuss the county’s future. His Holiness and Her Eminence expressed their firm belief that Lorelei embodies the best hope for Enswerp’s advancement. During their meeting, Lorelei raised valid concerns about the potential risks of leaving Enswerp leaderless for an extended period. We look forward to seeing how Her Ladyship will lead Enswerp toward a future even brighter than its past. Her Ladyship, Lorelei Mairi, Countess of Enswerp Her Eminence, Clover Cardinal Mount Lemon, Chancellor to the Curia

Lorelei Mairi Alstion-Enswerp sat alone in the quiet confines of Cliffhaven Hall, her gaze fixed on the stack of letters before her. The weight of never-ending conflict was a familiar burden, one she had grown accustomed to. Life had often felt like a never-ending series of losses and betrayals, leaving her with nothing but the echoes of disappointment. With a sigh, she pushed open the window and let her gaze drift over the tranquil river, eventually settling on the distant silhouette of Lemon Hill. A fleeting thought crossed her mind: a visit there might provide a brief respite from the chaos around her. Perhaps there would be an answer.

— 12th of the Amber Cold. 1989 — To Whom It May Concern, The ongoing conflict between Aaun and Ravenmire has brought immense sorrow and suffering. I have endured the loss of three uncles and an aunt—dear souls who were truly good to me. The pain is not confined to one side, as we have seen casualties on both sides of this tragic war. I am deeply troubled by the state of affairs and fear for the safety of my own parents. The confession of my Aunt Hedwig was deeply unsettling; it is incomprehensible to me how one could inflict such harm upon a family member. Yet, the revelations about my Uncle James and his actions toward my Uncle Alexander and Aunt Josephine are equally distressing. It is bewildering to witness family members turning against one another in such a manner. While I may have disagreements with my own siblings, I could never fathom causing them harm. The Leasanov Protocol, enacted for my Uncle Charles and Aunt Hedwig, has profoundly impacted my family and the future of Aaun. It feels as though things may never be the same again. I earnestly hope for the end of this conflict. The suffering it has caused is unbearable, and I pray for divine intervention to restore peace and justice. May God bless us all during these trying times. — Sincerely, Her Ladyship, Lorelei Mairi of Enswerp

“What does this mean for us pa?” Lorelei looked to her father. @Sebbysc

Lorelei of Enswerp, the eldest niece of the queen, tilted her head thoughtfully as she read the missive. “My Uncle James conspired in the murder of Uncle Alexander and inflicted harm upon my beloved Aunt Josephine? He got what he deserved.” In that moment, Lorelei felt a deepened sense of admiration for her aunt.
