  2. THE EMERALD ACCORD As agreed upon on the 12th of The Amber Cold, Year 170 of the Second Age Between the Unified Domain of Vortice and the Apostolic Kingdom of Aaun With the signing and promulgation of this document, the Apostolic Kingdom of Aaun and the Unified Domain of Vortice, henceforth referred to as ‘the signatories‘, do agree on their honour to the terms laid forth hereafter. Article I: Sovereignty I. The signatories hereby concur to acknowledge the autonomy and sovereign status of each of their respective realms. Article II: Non-Aggression I. The signatories hereby pledge to refrain from engaging in any acts of aggression or military hostilities against one another in any manner. II. The signatories pledge that citizens of either party shall refrain from accepting military commissions or engaging in mercenary employment from any state with which the other party is involved within a state of war. III. In addition, this commitment encompasses the preservation of the right to unrestricted movement of their respective citizens between the signatory nations. IV. The signatories pledge that citizens from either realm are protected while in their respective territories so long as they act within the laws of the respective realms. Article III: Extradition I. The signatories hereby consent to a reciprocal extradition provision, whereby a citizen of either nation, provided there is justifiable cause for their arrest, may be apprehended and subsequently transferred to the jurisdiction of the courts in the territory where their alleged crime transpired. II. In such instances, an Extradition Request must be formally submitted by the judicial authorities of the first party's state to the Monarch or Sovereign of the second party for approval. III. Legal representation for the defendant may be provided by the judicial representatives of the nation from which the citizen or subject originates. Article IV: Diplomatic Exchange I. II. The signatories jointly endorse the principle of diplomatic freedom, emphasizing the inviolability and immutability thereof. II. The signatories further agree that when a Vortician mining network has been established along the eastern coast of the Langkette Range north of the Apostolic Kingdom of Aaun, where evidence of veins of valuable emeralds has been found, the Royal Aaunic Government be allowed unlimited access thereto. Article VI: Duration I. The duration of this pact shall be held for fifteen years. During the tail end of the duration, a meeting shall be scheduled to determine whether both parties wish to renew or extend the existing treaty. Signed, His Apostolic Majesty, JOHN ALEXANDER, by the Grace of GOD, Apostolic King of Aaun, Prince of Alstion, Duke of Vienne, the Lowlands, Balemena and Corazon, Count of Whitespire, Enswerp and Florentine, Baron of Blanchet, Protector of the Realm The 10th Sovereign of the Depths, Monarch of the Unified Domain of Vortice, Lady Lenora Jusmia Lady Aerith Maelstorm, Minister of Internal Affairs, Acting as Minister of Foreign affairs of the Unified Domain of Vortice Legate John O’Riley, Minister of Defense of The Unified Domain of Vortice
  3. A Traveller’s Guide to the Hamlet of Enswerp [!] Depiction of the Hamlet on a sunny day c. 1964 [Credit and huge thanks to @Borinand @Capace for the awesome build!] THE HAMLET OF ENSWERP Established in 1964, the Hamlet of Enswerp is designed to help protect one of the primary routes into eastern Aevos and the majority of the Apostolic Kingdom’s land. Ser Stefano Montelliano was bestowed the honor of being the hamlet’s first bailiff, and with the help of Crown Prince Charles the region was quickly raised up to provide a home for the local peasantry. As a result, Enswerp has become a suitable place for those seeking a rural lifestyle without the oversight of the Peerage & Nobility. As long as you are of a Canonist lifestyle, then you are welcome to the hamlet. There’s very little that is disallowed, and the community is welcoming of those that seek a new life beyond the norm of other realms and settlements. Within the hamlet, there is an increased degree of autonomy that is uncommon in other human villages. This is due to the relationship that any resident may develop between the Bailiff and themselves. AN OPEN INVITATION WITH BENEFITS There are several, potential reasons why someone would wish to settle in Enswerp. This is not a complete list, but simply some highlights for those that might find themselves interested... I. Low Taxes The Hamlet of Enswerp, despite its prime location, is not a place for those who want to spend colossal sums of golden coins on their upkeep - quite the contrary. The taxes levied on the Hamlet are modest, each citizen is required to contribute an amount of TEN MINAE which, in conversion, amounts to ONE FULL ENSWERP MARK a year. At the moment the Office of the Bailiff does not foresee a tax increase. II. Greater Inclusiveness Our settlement is small, focused on slow development built on the basis of cooperation and good neighbourly relations. It doesn't matter who you are - human, elf, dwarf or gnome, you will always be welcome here as long as you follow the rules of the hamlet. Every day since the village was founded we have been meeting new faces who stop for a while during the long journey through the Lowlands before continuing on their way - this is how we build positive relations and improve our reputation. III. Work Enswerp offers several job opportunities - ranging from farmer to militia member, and perhaps one day the Bailiff himself. However, one should not think that this is the only thing that needs to be done. When the time comes to implement the project ordered by the Bailiff, every resident, regardless of their gender, should get to work to jointly build the village's future. CULTURE & SOCIETY Location: Our village is located on the east bank of the River Leone, right in front of the ruins of Andregrad, once the capital of the Duchy of Stran. The architecture is predominantly wooden, as is the bridge, St. Daniel's Crossing, which allows travelers to cross the river. Once on the east bank of the river, travellers are greeted by a small local tavern - Stefano's Greasy Spoon - where they can rest as well as eat and drink for ONE MINAE. Deep in the woods to the left of the tavern stands Fort Alba, which acts as a local garrison where the Bonnie Brigade, the local militia, is stationed. Further towards the ruins of Andregrad lies the hamlet where the entire, however small, population of Enswerp lives. In addition to the vast farmlands, the settlement itself has a humble smithy, an apiary where we produce our local honey and the church of the Blessed Calliope of Merryweather. Prominent Individuals: Charles Reman Alstion - The Lord of Alba - @Olox_ Ser Stefano Montelliano - The first Bailiff of Enswerp - @Sebbysc Jan Nowak - The Captain of the Bonnie Brigade - @Pork Lembic Urbran - Local Gnome Doctor - @siglms_ Signed, Ser Stefano Montelliano, the Bailiff of Enswerp Jan Nowak, the Captain of the Bonnie Brigade HIS ROYAL HIGHNESS, Charles Reman Alstion, the Lord of Alba

  8. THE FIRST HUNT HOSTED BY THE LORD OF ALBA, HRH CHARLES ALSTION UNITY AND PEACE UPON THE LOWLANDS, UNITED AT LAST, I address you for the first time in my life, in an official document as the Crown Prince of Aaun, Lord of Alba. I was born shortly after our victory at Breakwater, where the forces of the Grand Covenant bravely defeated the forces of my excommunicated uncle, Gaspard van Aert and his orcish allies. Truly I pray every day for his repentance and that the Lord has mercy on his soul. As this bloody war takes its toll our lives have to go on. Therefore, to make this turbulent time more pleasant and merry, I am organising a duck hunt. It shall take place on the Floodplain. Despite their swampy nature, they are full of life and exquisitely beautiful. For as long as I can remember I have admired them from a balcony while observing through my spyglass. Volumes could be written about their beauty, but that is not the subject of this announcement. The target of the hunt will be local birds: ducks, wild geese, turkeys. It will be a good archery test for those who will participate. Furthermore I encourage those to bring appropriate clothing that will not hinder their movements as well as a bow or crossbow of their choice. Every citizen is invited, but I am also sending personal invitations to friends from Aaun as well as from beyond the borders of our rebuilt Kingdom. PERSONAL INVITATIONS: HIS SERENE HIGHNESS, Leon Anton Barclay, Grand Prince of Minitz HIS HIGHNESS, Johannes Lothar von Alstreim, Prince of Merryweather and the Rhine HIS LORDSHIP, Siegmund von Reuss, Margrave of Velen HIS LORDSHIP, Waclaw Jazlowiecki, Count of Warsovia HIS LORDSHIP, Emilio Varoche, Baron of Napoliza HIS LORDSHIP, Fernand de Lewes, Baron of Virdain HIS LORDSHIP, Robert Haverlock, Baron of Gotfridcher HIS LORDSHIP, Krzysztof Jazlowiecki, Baron of Krakovia HIS LORDSHIP, Leufroy Otto von Reuss HIS LORDSHIP, Leonard Franz d’Abbassia HER LADYSHIP, Alicja Julia Jazlowiecki HER LADYSHIP, Jadwiga Maria Jazlowiecki HER LADYSHIP, Konstancja Illena von Reuss HER LADYSHIP, Siegmunda Agnes von Reuss HER LADYSHIP, Guinevere Milena von Reuss HER LADYSHIP, Cosima Victoria Temesch HER LADYSHIP, Claudia Lorena Temesch TANDEM TRIUMPHANS, His Royal Highness, CHARLES REMAN ALSTION, the Lord of Alba
  9. THE FATE OF THE MARCHLANDS Penned at the request of His Royal Majesty, John, the King of Aaun, in the year of our Lord, 1959 PREAMBLE Peace and prosperity unto the Lowlands, united at last. After seven years of struggle, following the death of His Majesty Edmund II, our cause of liberating the Marchlands has come to fruition at last - our most western province with the help of the Great Covenant of Nations has been seized from the hands of the rebels led by Richard of Stassion, the Prince of Nothing. They have been butchering our people ever since they departed from our Kingdom and insisted that our citizens were the ones to first break the peace established by Edmund’s successor, our merciful King John. We have seen past their treason. Richard Stassion had made a holy vow upon the relics of the Saint Alexander of Furnestock not to take up arms against the Holy Mother Church and the Crown of Aaun in an armed conflict. He shamelessly broke this vow within days of his merciful expulsion. The men of Stassion, armed, resumed raiding that remained under Crown authority, harrying the peaceful subjects of the King. They saw no shame in breaking their holy vow, believing they could escape God’s justice and the Crown’s rightful retribution. With the blessing of His Holiness, Sixtus VI, our Realm assumed a resolute stance and took up arms against the rebels that dwelled in our western province for nearly a decade. Together with our stalwart allies of the Covenant of Nations, we extinguished their resolve in the lands they called their home. Our cause was righteous and just. Our Realm and her peaceful peoples never sought to be embroiled in conflict, yet it was forced upon them: we did not fire the first shot, but we fired the last. Now, on this 12th of Tobias’s Bounty, 1959, we stand triumphant. THE FATE OF THE MARCHLANDS Following the liberation of the Stassionite land, the reformed Crown of Aaun will endeavour to remove any structures erected on the territory of the Western Marches that may remind the people of Aaun of the House of Stassion and their crimes committed against them. It is declared what follows: I His Majesty, the King of Aaun, demands that the only building to be spared within Fredericksburg is the local church. II His Majesty appoints a governor to keep watch over the Western Marches, namely Father Yann. It is among his duties to rid the western borderlands of the Kingdom of Stassionite infrastructure and return this region to nature by planting trees and sowing new fields. Approved by His Majesty, John I, at the Royal City of Whitespire on the 12th of Tobias’ Bounty, 1959
  10. “STASSIE, GO HOME!” AND OTHER AAUNIC HITS The songs of the Aaunic patriots Originally penned by HRH Charles Alstion and Father Yann, in the year 1959 WITH DEDICATION TO OUR VICTORIOUS KING His Apostolic Majesty, JOHN ALEXANDER ALSTION, by the Grace of GOD, King of Aaun, Prince of Alstion, Duke of Vienne, the Lowlands, Corazon and Balemena, Count of Enswerp, Florentine and Whitespire, Baron of Blanchet and Protector of the Realm. STASSIE, GO HOME! Well, your time has come to leave Stassie, don't you act naive Tuck your tail between your legs and flee this land! There's a boat down at the pier Aeldin's nice this time of year Ditch the Marchlands and free Aevos of your band! Go home, Stassie, Stassie, go home! Nobody will cry and mourn for you! Aaun will be a better place When you're gone without a trace To pack your bags - the only thing that's left to do! Now it's pointless to resist Don't think you'll be sorely missed If you plan a breakout in the dead of night; If you hang, no tears we'll shed Run to save your Stassie head Better you should disappear to Aaun's delight! Go home, Stassie, Stassie, go home! Nobody will cry and mourn for you! Aaun will be a better place When you're gone without a trace To pack your bags - the only thing that's left to do! OH AAUN, THOU ART GRAND IN MIGHT Oh Aaun, thou art grand in might. In honour and in fame. Thus may thine exc'llent glory fight, Gaints those who mock thy name! Thou stand'st firm as thy mountains do, In lands of East and West. And may thy spirit fly so true, As that hawk from his nest. Thus hold firm! Thus hold firm! Let the Alstion banner wave! Show the world! Show the foe! That not ever shall we die! That the glorious Aaunic strength persists, When the fearsome cry of war insists. Thus hold firm in the fierce storm! Thus hold firm! In the fierce storm! TANDEM TRIUMPHANS. OOC: This post will be edited if more songs are written.
  11. WHEN KING JOHN COMES HOME IN PEACE AGAIN The song of the Alstion Loyalists Written by Lodewijk van Hoorn, in the year 1958 WITH DEDICATION TO OUR KING John Alexander Alstion, King of Aaun, Prince of Alstion, Duke of Corazon and Balemena, Count of Enswerp, Florentine and Whitespire, Protector of the Realm. What seer can prognosticate or speak of our Kingdom’s present state? I think myself to be as wise as those who look now from the skies My skill goes beyond the depths of the pond or river in the greatest rain, by which I can tell that all things will be well when King John comes home in peace again. There is no astrologer then, say I, who can search more deep in this than I, to give you a reason from the stars what causeth peace or civil wars; the Veletz buffoon may wear out his shoon while running through the Aaunic lands but all to no end, for the times they will mend, when King John comes home in peace again. Though for a time you may see Whitespire with cobwebs hanging over the wall, instead of silk and silver brave, as formerly it used to have; and in every room the sweet perfume, delightful for that princely train; the which you shall see, when the time it shall be, when King John comes home in peace again. For sixty years this royal crown hath been of Alstions and of Aaun and is there anyone but he that in the same should sharer be? For who better may the sceptre sway than he that hath such right to reign? Then let’s hope for a peace, for the wars will not cease till King John comes home in peace again. Till then upon the Lemon Hill, my hope shall cast her anchor still, until I see some peaceful dove bring home the branch which I do love. Still will I wait till the waters abate, which most disturb my troubled brain; for I’ll never rejoice till I hear the voice, that King John enjoys the peace again. TANDEM TRIUMPHANS.
  12. Penned and issued by, the 4th Lord Mayor of Whitespire On the 20th of Godfrey's Triumph, 1956 WEALTH BEYOND MEASURE, GOOD CITIZENS OF WHITESPIRE. I am Boon, of Boon & Bane’s (as I am sure you have heard). I’d like to publish my findings after I believe TWO YEARS of my position as Lord Mayor. Just today, I held my first official, professional, masterful, and executive meeting with those that call themselves the ‘city council’. I had seen these fellows around before, but, I never introduced myself nor did they introduce THEMSELVES to me. I put this down to my SHEER PRESENCE being so imposing and my aura so WEALTHY. To start with my aforementioned and MOST IMPORTANT findings, I’d like to share with you readers a few fun facts and tid-bits of those that sat before me in the city council (because I, of course, positioned myself above them all upon the big chair). I still do not understand what this council of cities does, however, I find it quite charming they keep asking to ‘take the floor’. I think it is absurd to ask for permission to dance and that you should be able to do such whenever and wherever you like. Firstly, one of the fellows whom was named Vylandris (quite peculiar if you ask me, which you should), stated that he once tried to convince a Haeseni woman to dance with a goat! His favourite colour, quite oddly, was SKY blue. Which, I think, is just a NORMAL blue. No need to specify sky, big fella. Next we have big Franny, or Frantzisko Bishop Buron something or other important-sounding. Big fan of WINE RED, he is. Broke into a guardhouse when was just twelve! Now, this fella, after hearing this, I’d properly trust with my life. If he was jumping off a bridge, well, I might too. Might even jump off the Hand of Horen with him, but, that is a story for another day. MOST INTERESTINGLY, however, was the fellow named Henri de Lewes. He had NO FUN FACT… Up until when he did indeed produce a fun fact; that of him marrying his cousin! Blimming heck. Don’t remember a comment on a favourite colour unfortunately, but, I’d imagine it is whatever colour that his cousin likes. I’ve also been seeing some odd and downright weird happenings around the city itself, of course, with my new monocle that I acquired as to display my new-found professionality as Mayor. Namely, that FREAK from back home; Godric. Seems that Godric from the village over followed us, Boon and Bane, all the way from Hurstcombe to try and one-up us at OUR OWN TUVMAS STALLS. Terrible fellow. I will see to it that Godric is deemed a villain and his stall is flattened if he continues to harass us, so please write to me (in big letters and with simple spelling preferably) if he harasses you as well. I have also noticed a most terrible thing during my REIGN as LORD MAYOR. I have been counting the cobbles upon the Whitespire street as I have been performing my morning walks, and I have noticed that: every fourth brick is very slightly skew-whiff. Let it be known that I will personally be taking donations to fix such an impending problem. Hashtag Fix Aaun’s Infrastructure (I don’t know what this means but I was told it was trendy). Other than that, I have NOT been very impressed with the residents’ breakfast routine. Not a single person has reported to me, other than four people. If you are not careful I will be enforcing a STRICT breakfast routine of which every morning you must line up with your empty bowls in front of my upcoming soup kitchen and Bane will be keeping track of how much each one of you eat. Also, I’d like to remind Merryweather Merry Swap participants that the gift-exchange will be taking place next Saint’s day. Anybody that doesn’t like this knows where the gate is, BUT, you’ll have to be extraordinarily thin to fit through them because we sadly won’t be opening them anytime soon because of odd green fellows and turquoise-bandana-wearing folk stalking us. Cheerio and until next update. Right, Bane, put down that blimming quill now and help me tidy up after the chickens. Come on, you can stop writing now, don’t do this aga Penned and issued by, 4th Lord Mayor of Whitespire, The Bailiff of Apfelberg, Chef of Merryweather, Foreign Relations, Builder, Handyman, Investor, Non-Profit, For-Profit, Seamstress, Chutney Developer, Marmalade enthusiast, and Co-Owner of Boon & Bane's Ltd.

  14. The Net of Whitespire ☩ ☩ ☩ It was always a near thing, operations that required a short burst in, then a short burst out, accomplishing the objective within a brief window. Lennerd, a simple private in Blackvale’s ranks, had never undertaken such a mission before. He was not to go alone, of course, nor was he to be relied on for much. Well, just one thing… “Lennard. I hear that you are the surest catcher in all of Tiel. Stories of the time that you caught all of Miss Jette’s fruit when she dropped them during the market. I will give you the opportunity to prove that yourself. You are to be put under one of my most loyal men, Ivan of Arpa. My cousin Hendrik has summoned him and a group of orcs to partake in a covert operation. Aaun has betrayed us. Whitespire is weak. We must strike while we have the opportunity.” Lennerd was a poor boy from a small market town. His meeting with Sir Gaspard was the first and only time he had seen a man of such a stature. Proud in action, despite the state of the war. Strong in tone, despite the many cruelties that he had suffered. What awed Lennerd the most was his resolve and strength. Even in these dark days for the League, the Captain-General’s mind worked at a pace he had not seen before. The fear in Lennerd’s heart was great. His devotion to his liege was greater. And so it was that he and an orc, a giant, fat olog named Brug, waited at the base of Whitespire during a rainy, cold morning. Each held the opposite ends of a giant net. Lennerd was no small man himself, he weighed more stone than any other in Tiel, but he felt dwarfed by even the smallest orc on the march over. They were loud, boisterous, sure of themselves in a way he never was. Brug, for all the wits he lacked, could at least notice this. As they climbed to the base of the great tower, the seat of the King of Aaun, Brug hummed a merry tune. It calmed Lennerd’s nerves for what was to come. As the minutes went on, he could hardly see, much less hear, the men and orcs that had stormed the tower. The guards of the city had been unaware of their movements, nor had the general citizenry awoken yet, but still Lennard feared what would happen if even one person crossed the bridge over to the tower the whole operation would be blown. The anxiety in his heart grew and grew as each minute ticked by. Then, when it seemed like it had gone on for so long that the raid had blundered in some way, Lennerd heard the call. “LENNERD! BRUG! THE NET!” It was Ivan’s voice. The two looked up and scrambled to unfurl the net and stretch it out when they saw it: boats flying through the air, each with a parachute breaking its descent somewhat. One snapped, sending a group of men plummeting into the sea to meet their deaths from such a height. Lennerd thought he saw a bishop’s crozier go with it, though he had only heard of such things. The others kept aloft, but it seemed that they were drifting out towards the sea. “Uhhh…. Hurry!” Lennerd’s voice broke as he yelled to Brug. The olog got the message and began to wade out some into the shallow sea. Lennerd moved slower, along small rocks that he could find his footing on. He and Brug were the backup’s backup, only needed if the worst happened. Now, the worst was here. The man felt that he was going to vomit, as the fortune of this whole raid now rested on the shoulders of him and an olog who couldn’t count to three. But then, fortune broke in favor of Lennerd. The winds that had carried the fleeing boat-parachutes north ceased, and without it beneath them the boats simply drifted straight down. Right into the awaiting net. It was a brilliant catch, and Lennard and Brug could not help but cheer, for King John of Aaun and the High Pontiff were both snagged! Their flight, in both meanings, had been cut short by the movers of destiny that they claimed to have at their backs. Just as the king’s guards were about to hop out, perhaps to do battle to save the King and the Pontiff, Bo Amador and Warboss Apek, leader of the orcish contingent there, quickly scaled down Whitespire. It was as if they were climbing a rope, so fluid and peerless was their dexterity. Shocking the Aaunish soldiers into surrender, for they could see more soldiers quickly making their way down the wall after the two, no further fight needed to be had. Apek had carried chains during his descent, a show of strength as well as intelligence, for he soon had the soldiers shackled. The King of Aaun and the Pontiff were shown better treatment, and they were escorted to a small rowboat by Bo and a few of his soldiers. The return to Veletz was swift and without problem. It was as if the world had stood still for several hours. For his part, Lennerd was paid enough coin to allow him to buy a farm outside Tiel and marry his longtime village sweetheart, a cobbler’s daughter named Mariet. Brug was given a lifetime’s supply of roasted pig to eat, which he consumed in full within a month.
  15. Penned and issued by, the 4th Lord Mayor of Whitespire On the 13th of Harren’s Folley, 1954 WEALTH BEYOND MEASURE, GOOD CITIZENS OF WHITESPIRE. I am Boon, of Boon & Bane’s (as I am sure you have heard). And it has been brought to my attention that I am now the FOURTH LORD MAYOR of WHITESPIRE. I am not quite sure what this means but it sounds very very important and so I am quite honered honoured and I will be shoving this in my brother’s face, and so I thank each individual person that has allowed me this title. I have been told by a secret source that I am now able to demolish buildings so I URGE YOU to be nice to me, or your home will be FLATTENED. However, if you have any suggestions or nice compliments to me, please write to me and I will ask Bane to read out your letter over a cup of tea. Anyway, as my first promise, I will be out finding cows (and possibly a few chickens) to gift to every loyal citizen. Do not be alarmed if you find a few cow droppings on your rugs (however do not ask me to reimburse you for this). You are most welcome. Boon also thinks (that is me) that most government and council meetings are quite boring and that, as my first initiative, buffet tables stocked with the HIGHEST QUALITY SOURCED AAUNESE AAUNIC LOCAL FOOD will be provided for all those in attendance. AS THE FIRST BILL I AM PREPERSING PROPOSING, I would like to ensure all citizens of Whitespire are kept healthy and happy and on a full belly to give us an advantage against our enemies. You will be required to EAT BREAKFAST every day and consistently provide myself with a detailed list of what you consumed every week. If I EVER catch wind that you are fighting on an EMPTY STOMACH I will deem you a villain and see to it that you are evicted. Alright, Bane, you can stop writing now. Why are you still writing? I said stop you bumbling idio Penned and issued by, 4th Lord Mayor of Whitespire, The Bailiff of Apfelberg, Chef of Merryweather, Foreign Relations, Builder, Handyman, Investor, Non-Profit, For-Profit, Seamstress, Chutney Developer, Marmalade enthusiast, and Co-Owner of Boon & Bane's Ltd.
  16. The Golden Gryphon Lowers its Blade Artistic Depiction of Yvian Ritter Galken, Dated; 1910 I.T. (114 S.A.) “Live by the words; 'Wer Rastet, Der Rostet', Be forever in humility by the words; 'Gott Mit Uns'” The elder looked upon the great keep as he sat down in the countryside, it's great spires pierced the heavens, its mighty walls and battlements surmounted by the banners of green and blue, the bulwark that shielded it. The man simply smiled and nodded; “I love Minitz” Thereafter seemingly collapsing unto the ground as he sprawled, his eyes affixed to the eagle that loomed overhead. It was black as ink, should it have been night it probably would be masked in the starry sky in near perfect stealth, Yvian mused. Its feathers, large and tattered, extended to a mighty span nearly that of a small messer knife, or perhaps more, as the old fool lacked the heavenly gift of flight, a simple squint of the eye and a guess was the best he could muster. The bird flew in a rather interesting pattern, as it soared in the blue, cloud barren heavens, its eye seemed to affix, something for the hunt? A predator honing in on its prey, the eagle began to spiral ever so slightly. Sitting up from his lounging, Yvian attempted to predict the where’s, who’s and what’s of the bird of prey’s hunt, using simple guesswork and though as futile or mis-used, the knowledge of what ballistics-work he knew from his times sundering Bold Blue with his comrades all those years ago. “Aha!” the gryphon-sigil-bearing man exclaimed, his eyes and rather exaggerated point, directed at the windmill. The question of what the bird was hunting for was quickly answered, a small squirrel had made a hidey-hole in one of the rather decently sized gaps in between the roof and the walls. Completely unaware as it was being silently observed by the various parties. Walls of White, Rooves of Orange, Banners of Green and Blue... Swoosh! The wind blew as the large bird snatched its prey and made its landing unto the clearing nearby, in a singular, swift motion. The poor critter stood no chance as the eagle made quick work of it, a great success for itself and its hatchlings, the bird made an abrupt motion and the critter was put out of its misery. Yvian pondered, though a completely detached event, the show of violence brought back memories of Atrus, the horrid times when the undead hounded the fair people of Balian for many a day. The speed of the hunt, the lighting reflexes of the bird and its prowl akin to unwaveringly brisk motion of a ballistae bolt. As the bird made its way to pick at the fresh carcase, his mind's thoughts raced from one moment to the next. The visceral killings done by the haunting Mori, to the brutality and cunning brought on by the Adrian, the Petran, his thoughts seemed to grow awash with the memories of blood, backstabbing and betrayal, the Roa’s, the Theonii, Heretics, Heathens and the enemies of the Inquisition, the- “Yvian! How are you? Admiring the countryside?” Yvian snapped out of whatever drivel his mind brought upon him, turning to the familiar face as they spoke. “Don’t suppose you’ve come here just to sulk, have you?” The veteran Reinmaren mused with some laughter, concluding with a small sigh, “It is a beautiful country. Let’s just hope that the Franks don’t capture it all back!” The Herrenmeister after Yvian jested, moving to his side. “I’ll start with good news. The Order of Saint Tylos is doing well, the order is once more revived!” The man rejoiced, a happy smile on his features, yet, it turned somber quite soon. “Things have changed. Ludwig, Eloisee, Saxton.. Abrielle. Their times have come and gone. Yet, there is always some light in life. Rakshasa, Roland, Barlord, they all returned! Rakshasa became blooded, his new name; Rafael. Roland formed himself a tribe and became the Warchief! And Barlord? Er, well.. He’s doing his own thing.” He’d break the somberness with a lighthearted chuckle. “Enjoying retirement, though?” The aging man offered a neutral gaze upwards at Peter, the bombardment of the various updates causing some mild confusion as he processed it. “Ja, I am, and it is good to hear that Minitz is prospering well.” Rising from the ground Yvian turned to the road, a cart in the distance making its way towards him as a smile grew on his face. As the creaking wood work grew more into view, Yvian offered a wave, then turning to his comrade. “It appears my ride has come, the final chapter in my journey…” his smile was melancholic, a sense of nostalgia about it. Opening his arms wide the man gave a brotherly embrace to his fellow man. “You have come far, I am proud of you, odd to think you used to be but one of my humble squires.” A grin flashed as he patted Peter on his shoulders and back. “You still haven’t lost your edge, Yvian.” Peter jested, “It’s been an honour serving the order under you. Your wisdom and guidance has made the man I am today, along with Robert, of course. Can’t discredit him.” He let out a brief, solemn laughter. Yvian simply nodded in response before stiffening his posture for a brief moment and offering a salute, thereafter pivoting on his heels and making his way to Lucia who was smiling gently, a soft yet firm grip upon the reins of the steeds that ferried the wagon. Peter stifled some tears as he thudded his chest to Yvian one final time; “Wer Rastet, Der Rostet. GOD be with you, Yvian.” “Wer Rastet, Der Rostet und GOTT Mit Uns, Peter” The pair waved a final goodbye as the cart suddenly jerked into motion, the wagon making its way down the road and across the bridge, more and more did the spires of Kanunsberg grow out of view, the mighty walls, the towers, eventually even the great banner of gold and scarlet victory of the Frankish wars, became but a blurry image on the horizon, Minitz, a cherished memory… Banners of Victory 'pon the setting Sun, Surmounting Mountains fading into Mist... And here ends the tale of Sir Yvian “The Gryphon” Galken Skilled Artilleryman, aiding in the ending of Bold Blue, the slayer of Undead, the Adrian, the Daft, et cetera Third Herrenmeister, Second Kastellan and of the numerous Ritter of the Order of Saint Tylos Hauptmann of the Warband of Theoderic Petty Officer of the Aaunic Royal Navy ~ Former Armourer and Weapon Smith of Minitz Most studious and ernest of Merchants Founder of the Industries of Saint Nicholas the Martyr Teacher Father Husband The Last Will and Testament of Sir Yvian “The Gryphon” Galken My family, couriers and earnest friends shall be the ones to execute my will; Those who read this, may GOTT bless you, may you never stray from his most holy light; To my comrades, friends and compatriots, Lord Robert Stroheim, Sir Peter Stroheim, Sir Brandt Barclay, Sir Leon Barclay, Siegfried Barclay, Sir Ludolf Barclay, Saxton Stroheim, Kato Oijin, Wilheim Barclay, Holly, Rohir, Gregarious Roa, Myrios, Raksasha, Safi, Barlord Bronzerock, Kristof Katzak as well as whatever other Barclays, Stroheims and other such most honoured friends I may or may not have forgotten. To my Apprentice and Son, Marcel Galken, I apologize for not being there much throughout your life, I fear I have failed you. You turned to those who besmirch Minitz and to that I simply pray for you not to fall to sin. Always seek great knowledge and experience and do not be hasty to meet me. To Oijin Kato and Siegfried Barclay, finish building those damn machines will you? My workshop is all yours, comrades. To Brandt Barclay, thank you, for letting me continue and end my service after the passing of your father, it was an honour. To my fellow Knights who have served me and to those who are left. I leave my utmost respect and gratitude, may your lances be forever sturdy, your crosses forever honed. Ser Adrielle, Sir Philip, Ser Garen, Sir Enrique, uphold the values of valour and chivalry in my stead and my blessings upon thee. To those who speak my name in shallow breaths with damnations and curses, may you all lick my arse, back stabbing and dishonourable Petrans, the deranged heretics of Adria and Veletzia, the rabid attention seeking Ferrymen and the cowardly snake-tongued Theonii, who cannot speak one on one, oh and lastly the weird stuck ups of Ceila’nor, licking Petran boots and kissing Adrian arses, also bowing to Darkstalkers and Spooks is weird. You may write your pissy responses, to my grave stone. To the people of Minitz, I leave my utmost respect and gratitude to all of you who are fine men and women and it is thanks to you, that I was able to find my place in this world. A few names that come to my mind… Saxton, Ludwig, Cisyn, Eloisee and many others. My possessions are hence forth given to the Barclay's of Minitz. King John’s Privy Council begs him to find a wife, circa 1953 It is the greatest pleasure of the Royal House of Alstion to announce the betrothal of His Royal Majesty, John I, and the good Lady Amelia Rose of Middelan. LETTER FROM AMELIA TO HER FAMILY To Uncle Gaspard, Aunt Saskia, Papa, and my dearest brother Gustaf; I apologize that you are to be told this way of my marriage. This war, this conflict has so ripped asunder the realms of Man - and so too has it made great injury upon my heart. It was you, Uncle Gaspard, Papa, that taught me to see the rightness of peace and justice and mediation. I had thought, once, that such a thing, that a lasting sort of peace, might be forged via a war against heathens and heretics and anathema. I had not thought that we would be that enemy. Though you are now anathema, and I can neither invite you to the wedding nor offer you shelter; I hope that someday soon we may meet once more, together under the LORD’s light. Repent, please, and His Holiness, and the Mother Church, might still forgive. Until then, I cannot support such violence inflicted upon the Canonist flock. 18. [!] The esteemed brother to the now-armless and illiterate merchant Boon, Bane, begins writing a wicked letter of complaint toward the Thorn of a White Rose newspaper on his brother's behalf! Penned and issued by Bane on the 4th of Owyn's Light, 1953 Dear Penner of the Rose, Madame Thorn, I am writing on behalf of my brother Boon, listening to his pained words and cries carefully. The matter of fact in this letter is that you did not mention him and subsequently our business or the tragedy that struck him a few moons ago during the trial of Richard of Stassion. This is a great disaster to Aaun, our customers, yourself and your newspaper. As an upstanding citizen of Aaun (who has always paid his own and other's taxes out of sheer generosity), he believes, and I believe, his now lack of arm should have at least received ONE sentence of mention. He is a beloved figure within the Kingdom, and when he was being taken captive, screams of his name, of worry, were echoing throughout the hall. Rescue missions and teams immediately scrambled in their dozens to save him. You are underappreciating the work he has done for this nation and making the event seem like a non-issue. Therefore, you are slandering our business and damaging our reputation. Might I let you know, personally, as his brother, this is me speaking now, he is STRUGGLING to knit, as he has one arm, this is on top of us jointly mourning for our recent lost friends in the Aaunite nobility, and yet you add on to our GRIEF. That means our wares are on a delay and are struggling to reach the hands of our beloved visitors, which means their beloved gold in their nice purses are struggling to get into our hands. If any poor quality garb or product gets out to the citizens of Aaun, this is blood on YOUR hands. You are single-handedly crashing the Kingdom of Aaun's economy. In conclusion, we as a international conglomerate are DISSAPPOINTED and Boon is ANGRY. As an apology from your silly little paper, we have some demands. It should be publicly known that those that assisted Boon received lifetime loyalty cards to Boon & Bane's, which included, His Majesty John of Aaun, as we are loyal subjects, and he even saved Boon FOUR slices of pie, which is FOUR more than you have given him. We would be delighted to be interviewed by your paper for your next issue, please contact us. If you do not do this... there WILL be issues. But unfortunately, no, I will not enjoy your next issues, because frankly you are a prick, a thorn in MY side. Yours most angrily, Co-Owner, Co-Founder, Proprietor, CEO, Possessor, Lease-Holder, Landlord, Keeper, Chancellor, Esteemed, Lord, Logistics-Master, Accountant, Architect, Designer, Quartermaster, Chutney-Taster, Lawyer, Dish-washer, Administrator of Boon & Bane's Ltd. and Boon's Brother, Bane
  19. - PENNED BY Madame Thorn - FROM THE AAUNIC PRINTING PRESS - Published the 15th of Sun’s Smile, Y. 1953 OPENING STATEMENTS FROM THE WRITER Dearest readers, Before we begin, you may be wondering who I am and what right I have to speak on any topic as if I’m a saint from the heavens. Allow me to formally introduce myself, I am Madame Thorn. My identity is not of importance, and shall never be revealed to the likes of you all though nonetheless. I still love you dearly my darling readers and hope you will enjoy my columns just as much as I enjoy the coin I earn from your purchases of my paper. THE UNSPOKEN OPINIONS, WHAT MUST BE SAID ⇀ FROM KNIGHTS TO DAMSELS ⇀ MERRYWEATHER’S VEXATIOUS PRINCESS… ⇀ HIDE YOUR WIVES! ⇀ FROM KNIGHTS TO DAMSELS The Kingdom of Aaun has been filled with a rather deadly electrifying buzz, one which delivered a deadly shock to the members of our own royal council. Indeed, King Edmund II, Prince Heinrich of Merryweather, Marshall Walter, and last and certainly least, the Count of Haverlock, whom no one truly knew, were all murdered within the royal palace by the treacherous soldiers of Stassion. Whilst we mourn the losses of our young King and his loyal councilors, other nations have taken the chance and opportunity to bash us for our what they call our Incapable Boy King. What a shame they didn’t even consider the necessitous boy a man. He was crippled, granted, that was his fault for trusting those savages hailing from Stassion. ⇀ MERRYWEATHERS VEXATIOUS PRINCESS Our new King, the noblest and benevolent King John, uncle to the martyred Edmund II, has ascended the throne in light of this catastrophe and has rightfully called the treacherous Margrave of Stassion to trial to answer for his, as best put by the Aaunic crown, “failed and disgraceful” father’s attempted coup. The trial was an utter mess, to say the least, for the unruly Princess-Dowager of Merryweather was so distraught by her husband’s death, that she attempted to take the life of the dishonored Margrave of Stassion. And to be frank, it was a sorry and failed attempt. If you intend on trying to assassinate someone, I would suggest you at least take lessons on how to properly aim… or at least make it less obvious. Truly, it was as dramatic as it was idiotic of Lady Aleksandra to have directed her crossbow at the disgraced Lord Margrave, for all those present at the trial to see nonetheless. Verily, to the surprise of none, Lady Aleksandra did find herself summarily tackled to the ground and escorted forthwith from the palace alongside that beast she calls a daughter. And thus the Princess-Dowager of Merryweather was ousted from Whitespire in disgrace, a humiliating repeat of when she was first banished from our royal realm, ironically at the behest of the same Lord Stassion she sought to murder. Though, one is left to wonder what brought Lady Aleksandra back to our fair kingdom to begin with. Indeed, it has been a number of years since she was last in Aaun. Perhaps it is that the dishonorable, so-called “Prince of Nothing” consumes the every thought of our vexatious Princess of Merryweather; indeed, we dare call her obsessed with the ongoings of Lord Stassion and his lands. ⇀ HIDE YOUR WIVES! It is true, Aaun teeters on the precipice of instability, and that is being generous to say the least. That said, do not mistakenly believe that the rest of the human realms fare any better. It is rather amusing that, for some reason, the lords and ladies of Balian, Petra, and Haense had thought their presence was required at the trial. Shaking their heads and constantly whispering about our noble King’s decision to their peers. I should fear that the crown heads of Aevos should instead seek to settle their internal affairs before jeering at the Aaunish crown. Frankly, I believe that all of these foreign nobles should have been escorted out or rather, not let in at all, especially not those hailing from Balian. Their entire castle is in disarray, though that is hardly the least of their concerns given the enormous amount of infidelity that occurs within their walls. And perhaps most shocking, if rumor is to be believed, the Lords of Balian have been beating their wives so badly, that they now flee to Haense in respite. However, I suppose they will be no safer in Haense given their… reputation. Needless to say, I would suggest the Kingdom of Balian get their affairs in order before daring to speak upon the Kingdom of Aaun any time soon. I could say the same for Petra, given that they allow a child to sit upon their throne. It is indeed a wonder how the Petra still stands, especially with such a witless child at its helm, for it is perhaps the most disposable and forgettable of the human kingdoms settled within Heartlands. One must surely wonder whether it is the futility of their lands or the unpleasantness of their people that steers away the would-be conquerors of that oversized County they call a Kingdom. And the King of Haense’s temper is undeniably and utterly embarrassing. A proper King must have patience. must persevere and must never let such little insignificant matters cause them to lose their focus and temper. Though, I do suppose one would be hard-pressed to call Aleksandr II a proper King given he is but a weak imitation of his predecessors, riding off the coattails of their golden age. I suppose these nations could have learned something from that insufferable little boy king who once sat upon Aaun’s throne. Though perhaps that is out of my jurisdiction to speak upon. THE UNSPOKEN OPINIONS, WHAT MUST BE SAID CLOSING STATEMENTS So, here's a nod to our gossip aficionados, the silent readers and the vocal critics alike. As we close this chapter, let the echoes of scandal and the rustle of gossip linger in the air, reminding us that even in the every day, there exists a tapestry of stories waiting to be unveiled. Until the next edition, may your secrets be well-kept, your revelations be dramatic, and the pages of our gossip chronicles be a playground for the extraordinary tales that make life all the more intriguing. Until we meet again, dear readers. ,
  20. A PRINCE NO MORE The death of the Prince of Merryweather, Heinrich II Lothar von Alstreim One cold morning in the year of our Lord 1904, there was a great commotion within the white walls of Corwinsburg Castle in the Arentanian Alps. Servants ran from chamber to chamber, carrying towels and water, doctors arrived from the capital, soldiers waited quietly for news. Many footsteps echoed through the corridors that morning, but then silence engulfed the Waldenian castle before a quiet scream echoed in one of the chambers. “It’s a boy, Your Highness. Do you have a name for him?” Inquired a maid “Heinrich Lothar…” Silence was short as a trembling voice of the mother answered the inquiry. On that day it began. It was a warm, summer day in the year of our Lord 1952 when the Prince of Merryweather and his party travelled to Whitespire in order to hold an emergency Royal Diet meeting before a planned conference regarding some pressing international matters. There was no indication of what was to come. Everything was going according to plan until a mass of soldiers clad in purple and black streamed into the castle. They all drew their blades and started killing. It then became evident, Stassion betrayed all the Kingdom stood for. AN ORDER WAS GIVEN, THE VOICE OF A TRAITOR ECHOED “Do not harm the Chancellor, Duke Janos, or Grand Prince Ferdinand! Kill the King, kill the Prince of Merryweather!” Heinrich’s eyes widened as he faced the blade of an armoured soldier of Stassion - there was no escape. The last thing he saw was Johannes running to safety, Boon jumping out of the window, Walter with raised hands and the awful sound of a body being cut open. It was a quick death. It was a painful death. One he feared for years. One of which he told his dear Aleksandra so many times. The very death she did not want to hear of was real, and it claimed her husband. The tip of the blade pierced the Princely throat. The redhead fell to his knees, bleeding out. The man who stood at the head of the state, always in shining armour, held in high esteem by his enemies, was humiliated - cut up like a piglet for a feast. The pain was immense. The last thing he managed to think of was his family. People he loved but failed their trust in the end. His pride would never allow him to admit this failure. Definitely not after he fell to his knees begging for his wife's forgiveness so many years ago. There was no turning back now. Henry managed to mutter out his last words while choking on his blood… “I FOUGHT I LOST NOW I REST” The rest was darkness. He was free of all his burdens. The Prince of Merryweather and the Rhine, Landgrave of Alstreim, Baron of Corwinsburg, Lord of Blackwater, Elected Margrave of Vanderfell, Lord Vandalore, Lord Regent of Aaun, uncle to the King and most importantly husband and a father was now lying dead on the floor of the Hand of Horen, a few meters away from his office. Now the Principality was in his son's hands, safe at last. He failed his family, especially his wife Aleksandra who he loved dearly. He failed many. Heinrich II Lothar passed on that day but he did it with dignity, defending the boy he proudly called his King... On that day it ended. HEINRICH II LOTHAR VON ALSTREIM PRINCE OF MERRYWEATHER 1904-1952
  21. Campaign Report Action Report -The Spire Still Stands- Issued by the HAUPTMANN OF REINMAR On this 12th day of Sun’s Smile of 156 E.S. To the Reinmaren People On this day the Forces of Reinmar and Minitz aided the combined forces, if Haense, Aaun, and Bailan to capture the murders of the Aaun crown, before coming to the defense of Whitespire. Where the combined force obliterated a force from Veletz returned an uneasy peace to the lands. This was started by a rouge noble house stassion, murdered the king of Aaun in cold blood, then attempted to flee when a the coalition forces arrived and chanced them across the waters around Whitespire. Before getting word of a Veletz rally heading for Aaun, as such we took up positions inside the city, after a few moments of back and forth the coalition drove deep into the enemies line and crushed them between the gate and their steel! May the Reinmaren win many more victories. Wer Rastet, Der Rostet Saint Edmond, as my brothers go to battle over the coming days, grant them fortitude and protect them. Pray for God to show mercy to the dead, and that in hoping for victory today, we may win the peace tomorrow. GOTT MIT UNS, Hauptmann of Reinmar

The Canonist flock are assailed by trials and tribulations on many sides, Heavenly Father. We pray for the flock of Haense, whose warmth of spirit is being frozen by a never-ending winter and ask that You bless them with the thaw of spring. We pray for the flock of the midlands, of Numendil, Petra and Veletz, for they are troubled by the likes of Vampires, Azdrazi and wicked Magi, and ask that You cast down these threats to the faithful. We pray for the flock of Aaun, whose King lies hurt and bedridden after an evil man tried to bereave him of life, and ask that you bless their ruler with good health. We decree the Curia to be thus: Vice Chancellor, His Eminence, Matthias Cardinal Lotharia Auditor of the Tribunal, His Eminence, Stanislaw Cardinal Westerwald Secretariat to His Holiness, His Eminence, Josef Cardinal Jorenus Prelate of the Priesthood, His Eminence, Antonius Cardinal Artorus Pontifical Chamberlain, His Eminence, Brandt Cardinal Albarosa Commandant of the Pontifical Guard, His Eminence, Odo Cardinal Gelimar SECTION IV - DIOCESAN APPOINTMENTS It is through our Apostolic Right, bestowed unto us through the Laurel derived from the Exalted that we appoint the following members of the priesthood to shepherd and be pastor of the Church’s Archdioceses and Dioceses: ARCHDIOCESE OF ALBAROSA To be shepherded by Archbishop Brandt Cardinal Albarosa DIOCESE OF BURON To be shepherded by Bishop Frantzisko DIOCESE OF GELIMAR To be shepherded by Bishop Odo Cardinal Gelimar DIOCESE OF ST. EMMA To be shepherded by Bishop Alexios DIOCESE OF ANDRIKEV To be shepherded by Bishop Amleth DIOCESE OF TYRIA To be shepherded by Bishop Mattia SECTION V - MARRIAGE DISSOLUTION Matrimony is a most Holy sacrament, granted by GOD through his clergymen that serve the flock. However while the union created between a man and a woman through the sacrament of Matrimony is meant to be an eternal one, sometimes the situation causes the Church to have to intervene, for one reason or another, through an official dissolution of the pair’s union. Today, We perform such once more, as It is through Our Apostolic Right, bestowed unto Us through the Laurel derived from the Exalted that We officially dissolve the union of Adrian of Balian and Andromeda Ester, on the grounds of abandonment and denouncement through Andromeda’s departure from Balian and her disloyalty to and forsaking of Adrian after many years of an unhappy marriage, and the struggle of the latter to make said marriage work. We wish that GOD grant mercy to this separated couple in the next chapters, and We request that they seek Our approval before once again receiving the sacrament of matrimony. SECTION VI - ON THE FERRYMEN Recently we called for the warriors and knights of Canondom to assemble and ride with us to Veletz and Haense. The reason was that the Ferrymen had sought to make their return by kidnapping a pregnant woman, the Princess Sibyl, heir to the Kingdom of Balian. We hereby condemn the actions of the Ferrymen and declare them EXCOMMUNICATED and ANATHEMA. No service or sacrament is to be given to any of their members by any member of the clergy. They reside outside the law of both the Church and secular realms, with their rights forfeited. If any of their members consider themselves Canonists, they may individually seek me out for their penance. We wish to make something very clear; that actions like these are a slight against the Canonist family and they cannot stand. One cannot be a Ferryman or aid a Ferryman and consider themselves a Canonist. Ferrymen cannot live a Canonist life because their lifestyle blasphemes GOD. The age of terrorist behavior like what was displayed by these bandits is done. The Ferrymen as a group laid dead in the dust for a while now and we prefer they remain dead. Their actions have proven that the Canonist League was right in claiming that the Ferrymen reside in Veletz, for they have shown themselves to use the Mareno keep as a base of operations. We say thus to Captain-General Gaspard of the League of Veletz; evict these men and declare them banished, else you aid these terrorists and shall be considered one of them rather than a good Canonist and be likewise declared excommunicated and anathema. We have also seen that a band of Orcs came to the aid of the Ferrymen - for which we admonish the Rex. Let there be no confusion; the Ferrymen are not some sort of lovable rogues who fight a just cause against the remnants of an oppressive Orenian Empire. They are bandits, criminals, killers: terrorists, who make up excuses for supposed heroism while taking a pregnant and innocent woman from her home and threatening to kill her. Let there be no confusion also of the nature of the intervention that happened to try to negotiate the princess’ release; it was not an invasion of Veletz or Ferrymen territory by Haense. The King of Haense, the Admiral of Balian and the Grandmaster of the Order of Saint Jude were there under our banner. We take full responsibility. This was a Canonist mission of liberation inside of Canonist lands. So we say to the Ferrymen; do not try to spin this as some sort of unjust act of war where you are the victims. We thank our good and devout Canonist faithful for heeding the call and coming together as one big family in an attempt to free our sister in GOD from these wicked men. As of right now it is unclear what has happened to her, some say she lives and some say she was killed. Regardless, we shall pray for her soul and her wellbeing and that of her unborn child. Blessed are those who are persecuted for their righteousness, for theirs is the Kingdom of God. SECTION VII - VENERATIONS It is through Our Apostolic Right, bestowed unto Us through the Laurel derived from the Exalted that We affirm the following venerations: VENERABLE HENRY ALSTION Prince Henry Alstion was deemed Venerable as per decision of a Curia meeting held under our predecessor Sixtus V for his lifelong commitment to the Church - first as a layman, later as a deacon - and the role he played in ensuring peace among Canondom by ending the long-term war between the Duchy of Adria and the Canonist League. VENERABLE FATHER ARMAND Cardinal-Archbishop Armand of Lotharia is made venerable for his efforts in spearheading the crusade on the Azdrazi heralds of Azdromoth, the role he has played in combating the forces of evil in general, serving the Church faithfully as Auditor for decades and his invaluable contributions to the Magic Commission. VENERABLE KING CHARLES I OF AAUN King Charles of Aaun is made venerable in recognition for his unwavering loyalty to the Church and defense of our most holy institution throughout his lengthy life and reign. His legacy of devotion to the Church among the population of Aaun can be felt to this day and the importance of him standing up for the Canonist Church when an alliance led by Sedan threatened to schism over the issue of investiture cannot be denied. SECTION VIII - BEATIFICATION It is through Our Apostolic Right, bestowed unto Us through the Laurel derived from the Exalted that We affirm the following beatification: BLESSED SISTER CALLIOPE Sister Calliope Renata of Merryweather was a nun hailing from the House of Alstreim who joined the Church’s sisterhood in the Principality of Savoy. Aside from her service to the Church and her Faithful, she is beatified for the miracle she is believed to have performed at the Duchy of Reinmar in Haense in 1943. The Duchy was attacked by a band of undead led by a necromancer, who set the lands of the Duke ablaze and slaughtered his animals. After the attack, the Duke went to a chapel and prayed to Sister Calliope for intercession, upon which he saw a vision of the nun. After leaving the chapel, it was apparent that - miraculously - the damage the undead’s fire and blades had done to the Duchy had been reversed as if nothing had happened. 23. END OF THE RAVEN’S REGENCY Penned by the Lord Regent, HH Heinrich II Lothar von Alstreim in the year of our Lord, 1951 TO ALL CITIZENS OF AAUN, It has been fourteen years since I first sat on the Regency Council in the year 1937 as it was requested of me in the last will of my dear uncle, and your King James I Alstion. I can certainly say, looking back over these past years, that I have made many mistakes. Minor and major ones for which I will repent severely when I get the chance. As a young person I have never had the ambition to rule. As a child I never thought that I would become the next Prince of Merryweather, Lord Vandalore of the Waldenic Diet or the Lord Regent of Aaun, back then it was all so strange and unsuitable for me. Once the power was vested in me I have always had a lot of things on my agenda - state affairs, convening the Diet, affairs of Merryweather and family matters - but I have always been there for you, ordinary citizens, nobles and visitors of this United Kingdom. Now, approaching the age of fifty, I see that everything has turned out as it was supposed to. All the triumphs, stumbles and progress that have been made, are the work not of me or the Council members on their own, but of all of us - Aaunites. Our Kingdom was forged in the fires of war and among the ruins of the Harvest Confederacy, we do not seek conflict but surprisingly enough it always finds us, such is the nature of all evil. My advice as a person representing the old generation, brought up during the reign of our beloved and pious Bonnie Prince Charlie, is that you should respect the peace you currently have. My father, grandfather and uncle spent years in armour, on horseback, fighting for a peace that we are able to enjoy now. I have not used the sword but the word and quill to maintain this fragile peace - I have done my best to uphold it for years and I will continue to do it until the strength leaves my body and mind. It is my final document issued as the Lord Regent of Aaun. Through all my years of faithful service to the Crown I have hoped that once His Majesty comes of age he will inherit a Kingdom in a good shape, a Kingdom that suffered a lot more than outsiders think, a Kingdom that he will be able to call his own. Despite the countless opportunities to shape the Kingdom to my liking I have always remained true to the Alstion ideals and how my grandfather and uncle shaped this Realm. To use the naivety of a Boy-King would be a great sin. Instead I have used my knowledge and skills to shape him, the boy, to be a good and fit monarch. I thank all those who believed in me and stood by my and His Majesty’s side through the good and bad, I shall not forget your loyalty. With that I officially step down and thus bring the regency era to an end. I leave this Kingdom to Him, my royal nephew, EDMUND II ALEXANDER ALSTION, our noble King. ~Heinrich II Lothar Signed, HIS HIGHNESS, Heinrich II Lothar von Alstreim, Lord Regent of Aaun, Prince of Merryweather and the Rhine, Landgrave of Alstreim, Baron of Corwinsburg, Lord of Blackwater, Elected Margrave of Vanderfell and LORD VANDALORE
  24. Ice on the Hill 5th of Horen’s Calling, in the year of our Lord 1945. To the Canonist Faithful, A freak winter storm has descended upon Lemon Hill, cloaking our fair grange in a sheet of ice and snow. Many of our lemon trees have been affected by this frost, it is not yet known the extent of the damage. It is expected for our harvest to be much diminished in the coming year. Strange figures and ominous whispers have been observed in the blizzard, likely the result of magi and ne'er-do-wells. Visitors should take caution and remain in the warmth of a brazier or torch. All residents are advised to wear a second layer of winter clothes, as well as to double their supply of firewood. GOD shall yet see us through this trial, for we are His faithful. 25. Charity for Whitespire, 1942 The extent of flooding in the Royal Capital of Whitespire. 2nd of Harren’s Folly, in the year of our Lord 1942. Hear ye faithful, no more than a few days past has a giant wave washed over the city of Whitespire, flooding its streets and destroying the homes of a great many of its denizens. In the wake of such devastation it cleaves to us, those united by the Faith, to provide for our fellow man in his time of need. Thus we of Lemon Hill hereby solicit donations to aid those effected by this calamity. Please deposit all material donations upon the cart before the Monastery of the Sacred Heart. What is most needed at this time are items such as these: - Dry Clothes and Blankets, -Temporary Accommodations, such as tents, - Fresh Foodstuffs, such as Kosher Bread and Bales of Wheat, - Potable Water, - Dry Firewood and Kindling. By your contribution we hope to help our brethren in their time of need. Those who are displaced at the present time by this catastrophe can of course find shelter at Lemon Hill. Additionally, we are calling for skilled medicae to travel to Whitespire to provide aid on site. IN NOMINE DEI, Ser Morgan of Angren
