  1. Big ERP is losing the war, we must keep barraging them with rules.
  2. Ser Vylandris Vuln'ibar picks up his sword and wield the blade that once forced evil mobs to yield, "If this battle should leave me slain, I know Herobrine will call my name."
  3. The nine-year-old Robert Tiberius Alstion does not know more than half of the words written here by his ten-year-old brother, James. Though, he still supports whatever was written with an eager smile.
  4. I think it is interesting that we would not need to have these discussions if players did not feel the need to use Minecraft as an outlet to pursue romance and sexual-themed roleplay. Nobody is forcing people to play womanisers. Nobody is forcing people to play adulterers. Nobody is forcing people to play gay characters where the inherent implication is the focus on romance and/or sex as an identity as opposed to the biological reproductive function that heterosexuals must exist for to justify babies being born. Ideally, romance and sexual roleplay-themed roleplay should not be something that is pursued, but something largely implied. Regardless, these people are making the conscious OOC choice to put these characters into a roleplay setting. Then some of them have the gall to complain OOC, oftentimes because these sorts of characters are self-inserts to some degree, that the roleplay setting does not suit the character they want to play. My Brother in Christ, you are making the choice to play this character in this setting. If you do not like the roleplay environment, try to change it through roleplay or play a different character. I am not going to go to Haelunor with a character that is antithetical to their values as a nation and then complain when they decide to kill me for gravely insulting them and their culture. To address some recent comments made in this thread: 1. Whether something is inherently bad is subjective, both OOCly and RPly. The thoughts of someone being gruesomely crucified for instance is something that is perceived as something barbaric in modern standards due to it being a torturous punishment. However, in roleplay it is a lesser used but still relatively accepted form of execution. The same can be said for lynching, being burnt alive, and other similar methods. It is upsetting to hear of someone being burnt to death in real life, but there is a disconnect in perception of death between real life and a fictional medium like LOTC. While that obviously pertains to death, the same can be said for general discrimination. Calling someone a "midget" in real life is heavily frowned upon due to our modern standards, however it is a common slur to use against halflings and dwarves. It can be an upsetting word when used for genuine discrimination, but when used in a fictional context, the intent is not the same and is used for narrative value. Homosexual relationships are not inherently good on LOTC. Elves are intended to be largely infertile which is in part alleviated by their longer lifespans, however there is still no guarantee in roleplay that an elf may be lucky enough to have a child when they want or need one. To remedy this, homosexuality is frowned upon or even discriminated against by some because they are individually contributing to the dooming their race and family by not reproducing from a roleplay perspective. Similarly, known promiscuity in the hopes to conceive would in roleplay likely be frowned upon as well by other races as well due to it being a foreign concept and against their own beliefs. For humans, their shorter lifespans may also encourage some individuals to believe that it is their prerogative to discourage homosexuality to ensure that their noble ambitions may be met by having children for political purposes for instance. The point being is that there are roleplay justifications unique to the fictional medium that cannot be found in real life modern circumstances that affect mindsets on how someone should act towards a certain behaviour or concept. Themes that may be upsetting for some in real life does not mean that it should be banned and otherwise removed in a fictional setting so that it cannot be explored. If we banned every book that had content some people found upsetting, we would be banning literary classics like Harry Potter with the varied allegations of racism and satanic themes, or Lord of the Rings for its orcs supposedly being designed in a racist manner, despite both being widely acclaimed. If you do not like the content, do not engage with it. 2. It is not homophobic. Homophobia is a purposeful or implicit dislike towards homosexual people. A marriage between a man and a woman in Canonism is based on the model of the first coupling (who birthed the Four Sons: Horen, Urguan, Malin, Krug) as well as Horen and Julia. Any sexual encounter outside of the holy union is seen as sinful due to the sinner being seen as a "creature of worldly indulgence". This mainly covers pre-marital sexual intimacy and adultery due to the taking of concubines that inhibited virtue as with Harren in the Scrolls. However, homosexual sex is also covered in this clause because it is, of course, done outside of the holy union. Homosexual romantic relationships themselves though are not sinful or illegal. Depending on the character and their zeal, they would either ignore it, frown upon it, or shun it due to it being seen as a prelude to sin. Nobody would be killed over it. This topic only really becomes an issue when the misconceptions that people draw of Canonism being a 1:1 replica of Christianity makes them assume constant discrimination against homosexuals is common. It is not. The Canonist Church, within the last couple years, has not cared and/or made any effort to pursue possible or known homosexuals in roleplay in order to get them to repent. You are more likely to find mistreatment from unknowledgeable players in nations trying to do religious roleplay who assume the Church would be antagonistic towards homosexuals. 3. As I said before, the Church itself as an institution does not care about this. Whoever told you this is likely misinformed. The only nation that I know of that has made any actual attempt to outlaw homosexuality was Haense and it was only designed to combat issues of nobles being adulterers without leaving heirs to inherit their estates from my understanding. Again, I'd like to bring up what I mentioned in my opening paragraphs. You have deliberately chosen to make this an overarching theme for your characters. This is not something that you are being forced to do. I believe that I have briefly been in a few VC with you before years ago (mayhaps I am confusing you with someone else), but it seems you have choose to pursue these experiences purely because it is a reflection of how you are in real life. They are self-inserts in this regard, and that is likely why you feel guilty about the hardships placed on your character. These characters deliberately go against the status quo in many cases, and that is something that other characters will justifiably act against in some cases when you are being blatantly different. That is how homogenous societies work. You may find more enjoyability with characters that have varied personalities and traits that fit within the frameworks of what is normally considered acceptable by most roleplay communities instead of repeatedly playing, as you say, characters that have "all been queer in some form or another". You will generally find more enjoyment in characters that aren't self-inserts.
  5. Ser Vylandris of the United Kingdom of Aaun muses over the report. A vassal of the king, a darkspawn. He wonders if there may be more darkspawn residing in Aaun if he dug deeper. Robert Tiberius Alstion, were he able to read this and understand it, would no doubt feel terror as he, the Fat Prince, was manipulated into doing jumping jacks for the darkspawn's amusement until he vomited.
  6. Erm guys.. I don't think this 60v100 planned CRP raid was a good idea...
  7. Robert Tiberius Alstion prepares to sneakily take some cookies from his father's study as he leaves for his pilgrimage.
  8. Father Petyr of Albarosa read over the pontifical notice laid flat on his table. Tremors in his hands, he'd eventually pick it up before stumbling over to put it in the fire that warmed him. He recalled the Battle of Two Churches. The wounds he sustained, both mental and physical as he barely escaped Adria's church with his life. The selfishness of an Adrian's cause is unable to help them look beyond the utilitarian good. Recompense. Closure. They would sooner let thousands more die than allow a sacrifice for the common good of Canondom. To this, Petyr was well aware. To this, Petyr was disappointed in the High Pontiff by providing clemency to a man who so idly stood by and supported the war effort of criminals only to usurp when his personal ambition could so easily be fulfilled. Or at least was the case in the eyes of the exhausted priest. Father Petyr, lamenting the failures of man, goes to rest his feeble body as night fell upon Aevos. Awaiting another day of misgivings.
  9. "Let the stain of sin be washed away in this period of reforestation." Ser Vylandris remarks upon hearing the king's intent for the lands.
  10. Ser Vylandris of the United Kingdom of Aaun returns home from battle, a victory hard-fought and a victory well-earned. He takes off his blood-stained armour before going to his barn. He tends to his cows, a peaceful interaction to conclude the adrenaline of combat as he allowed a sense of peace to overtake him. He knew this would not be the end. The stubbornness of Man has been a strong suit, but at times it has also served to be the downfall of leaders and their people. The king would surely not allow the Stassionite leadership, if they survived at all, to remain alive after murdering his former kingly nephew. Blood for blood. And the Stassionite leadership would surely not allow a war to be their end, following in the footsteps of the besieged Brascans. Stubbornness vs Stubbornness. A war that transcends time and creed. A war that Ser Vylandris had no qualms continuing to fight. A victory for Aaun is a victory that Vylandris can take pride in... as its success correlated directly with his own.
  11. "We love privately owned enterprises here in the United Kingdom of Aaun" Ser Vylandris, author of Horen Shrugged, remarks wittily to prospective bidders stationed just outside the doorway.
  12. FULL NAME: Ser Vylandris Vuln'ibar AGE: 63 PRIOR EXPERIENCE: War METHOD OF CONTACT: Crevel
  13. @PC_Swift Are you going to let them do you dirty like this?
  14. A battle valiantly fought, yet a grave loss for the families encompassing Aevos. Thousands perished in the Battle of the Westmark a year prior. On the battlefield, both sides fought as bitter enemies. In death, they are united in peace by blood. Of course, this peace comes at a heavy price for the living. Pain and grief. Strolling amongst the meadow, Ser Vylandris Vuln’ibar observes the mourning wives and mothers believing their dearly departed to be buried somewhere under their feet and not knowing their true fate. Distraught fathers and brothers, pacing around with their head held low to obscure their lack of composure. Krugsmas, for many, is a day of celebration. This Krugsmas? A day of complexity for thousands. Do they celebrate? Do they grieve? Both? Neither? A difficult question with no easy answer. Kneeling down on a flat spot, dirt begins to gather in the creases of the knight’s gauntlet as Vylandris begins digging out a small hole with his hand. He produces an oak sapling from a pot that he had brought with him and delicately places it in the fertile soil before pushing the loose dirt back into the hole to cover the roots. “A tree for the fallen. Hopefully, a reminder too.” he remarks to himself as he gazes upon the planted sapling, “Wherever they are, may it be in peace.” Vylandris rests by the tree for a few hours, reliving the battle in his head and pondering on the same questions that befell him in its direct aftermath. As the day turned to dusk, he would hop on his horse that he dubbed “Ser Faesu” and rode home with his questions still unanswered.
  15. The injured Ser Vylandris Vuln'ibar stares at the missive that somehow found its way to Whitespire, "Again?" he'd remark of Veletz & Co's king-capturing abilities.
  16. A travelling minstrel arrives in the Whitespire tavern, scheduled to perform in front of a crowd with Ser Vylandris Vuln'ibar in front. Prefacing his performance as a newly published Veletzian folk poetry, the audience looked at each other in distaste given their recent defeat at Veletzian hands but gave the esteemed minstrel a chance nevertheless. As the minstrel sung in his smooth rural accent alongside his guitar, the crowd came around as they bobbed their head in with the pleasing rhythm of the song. By the end, Ser Vylandris arose with a standing ovation - even with his stiff and paining left shoulder from his Westmark battle wound - which encouraged others to do so as well. Leaving the tavern after a good night, the elf-knight considers getting his hand on a supply of Brascalites for the next battle.
  17. Bloody corpses cluttered the foreign battlefield. Men slain with blades and others crushed by the heavy weight of fallen armoured horses. The smell of rot had already overcome the corpses that perished earlier. Blood. Piss. Shit. All had permeated the air over the days of the battle. Cruel smells violated any sense of civility that could have once been had over the grassy meadow. Rallying cries from Covenant signalled a charge towards a crossroads. The recently knighted Ser Vylandris of Aaun accompanied the Covenant forces as they made the charge, participating in the merciless killing of a number of Veletzian foes. The repeated heavy footsteps that clambered over the corpses old and new that had obstructed their path made their eventual way to the crossroads. The full force of the remaining Covenant army had rallied proudly but tired. However, before any time to rest could come another rallying order would be issued to charge to the forested slope that they had just come from. A questionable order given the fatigue soldiers had endured from the last charge that led to them attacking those in their way. Alas, for the sake of acquiring victory, these orders were followed, and the charge proceeded. The sluggish force encumbered by their heavy daemonsteel armour, the corpses before them that they had to navigate once more, and the energy that had been exerted prior, found tremendous difficulty re-navigating the slope. Taking advantage of the Covenant’s lethargy, the Veletzian force, having been equipped in lightweight armour and acting defensively enough to have preserved their stamina, mounted a lively assault on the Covenant’s rear. Ser Vylandris, usually in the middle of the Covenant forces but had fallen to the rear, became one of the first to be attacked. A sharp, pointed Veletzian war lance found its way through a weakpoint of the knight’s plated armour, the force of which penetrating his left shoulder and propelling him downwards into the floor - a concussion from his helmet knocking him unconscious. Presumed dead from being still and the blood that was seeping from his armour, the Veletzian force stepped on and over him as they pursued the remainder of the Covenant’s army. Awakening days later, Vylandris feebly raised himself with the assistance of a nearby longsword as a crutch. Around him, crows and other scavengers had picked apart the various corpses. Stumbling through the battlefield, he’d find that bodies belonging to Covenant forces stretched as far as his eye could see. Thousands fell victim to the decisive Veletzian stampede, a massacre of this degree had not yet occurred against the Covenant until now. Had the tide turned? Would the Covenant lose its momentum? Questions that could only be answered by a higher power flooded his mind but the elf-knight pressed on with his makeshift crutch. A gaunt horse amidst a set of trees would be seen nudging at a decaying high elven corpse with its armour torn from it, no identifier to its allegiance but alas of the same racial brotherhood that Vylandris found himself in. Approaching the horse, Vylandris splayed his empty right palm to the frightened beast, “maelu’hileia, llir.. maelu’hileia. kae cruan’leh sulier nae.” he brushed the back of his palm down its nosebridge which seemed to have calmed it, “We must go home.” A wet tear that had already been forming in the horse’s eye dripped down its jaw as it lowered itself for its new companion, allowing Vylandris to embark home. Atop the gaunt steed, the elf-knight began his journey home without looking back at the nightmare he had witnessed.
  18. Vylandris Vuln'ibar would have approached a distraught Veletzian survivor from behind in the aftermath of the Siege of Brasca. The survivor's armour in a dishevelled torn state as Vylandris stepped closer with his sturdy, blood-spilt sword. The elf remarks, "But the Lord laughs at the wicked, for he knows their day is coming." Out of shock, the weaponless survivor drops to their dirt-stained knees as he attempted to plead out of fear but his words only came out as petrified stutters. Vylandris swipes his shortsword at the man's throat before kicking him onto his back and leaving. In his shocked post-battle hallucinations at death, the final thing that the Veletzian soldier would have seen is Vylandris not as he truly was.
  19. A Haeseni-born priest residing in the United Kingdom of Aaun by the name of Petyr pens a critical reply to the 'warpriest' in regard to their essay, "To the ordained Friar Villorik, While your claimed respect for the Scrolls is commendable and expected as a priest, it does not bode well to claim that centuries of written theory and analysis of the Holy Scrolls is naive. The history of our faith has seen great academics that have experienced many realms and many cultures that have surely influenced their analyses, and their essays prove much more optimistic than the dribble you have written that insults the very foundation of our Mother Church. You claim that the Church as an institution is totally reliant on the whims of ambitious princes but was it not the Exalted Owyn, an orphan who grew to rally the faithful of his uncle's armies in his youth, who restored the Kingdom of Idunia to virtuous rule from the sinful and ambitious Harren? Was it not he who created the institution that began the Mother Church as we know it today? While the Exalted Owyn is an extraordinary case due to being exalted, he is the exemplar of a man of virtue overcoming the tyrannical rule of an ambitious king with no respect for the Lord. These men and women, whether they occupy positions in realms or not, will forever exist and the tremendous power that they hold in spiritual unity transcends national identity. It is a power that can overcome any oppressive ruler. As long as these men and women exist, as they will as the Lord's mercy is forever shown in our daily lives, the Church as a mouthpiece of the Lord God's virtue will forever have power whether a standing militaristic force in possession of the Church exists or not. I recommend that you take more time on your marches to think more of the power of the Canonist collective lest you forget who you are truly fighting for. "In the kingdoms of Horen, he mingled strange and corrupt practices with the wisdom of holy men. Even now, the Lord watched, and sent miracles, that the world would repent." Scroll of Gospel (5:34-35) Father Petyr of Albarosa"
  20. Aaunic Boat Parachute after a Successful Landing, 1954 Vylandris Vuln'ibar marvels at the sight of Aaunic ingenuity from the coast. An invention well-crafted, and a test well-done. However, he saddens at the alleged kidnapping of his king and the High Pontiff.
