Aspirations :my aspiration is to make ravenhold an lovely town, make it attractive to live in and show people that ravenhold even excists (i have com across many people who have never heard of ravenhold). i will try to make the homes more attractive, and the landscape even more beautiful than it even is (which will be very hard). i would like to build more houses for people to live in and get people to live in ravenhold.

Qualifications :i know how to lead people, because i lead the ravenhold guards now. i also would be good for the job, because i have some experience with helping people around, i know alot of places in ravenhold because i live there and spend most of my time there.

Ideas? (optional) : one of my ideas is to make the houses in ravenhold cheaper. i think the houses are too expensive to live in (( they where before the wipe dont know the prices now)), people dont want to live there because of the high prices, but if we build some nice homes for an reasonable price it might become attractive to more people. i also have an idea of some kind of promotions for the city. they will be once in a time and be something like: buy an permit now and get one for your friend for halve (can be adjusted) the price, or buy an house and get an free pet (this is just an suggestion it can be anything).

this is my application for being an mayor of ravenhold.

i hope you like it and i hope to hear from you soon,

with kind regards,

--Walthraban ((djurreman))

Aspirations : Whenever I visit Raven Hold it is an amazing city, but it is not a mining city like it was originally intended. It needs to have more mines and a bigger mine. It should also be more open and inviting to dwarfs as it is a mining colony anyways. There needs more earth and mining themes in the city, it is an amazing city able to rival Laurlin itself but it is a mining colony and should look like it. So if I am chossen then i will make more mines.

Qualifications:I am a natural born leader and am able to lead a large group of people relatively easily. I can be very impartial in decisions. And I am an amazing architect able to make anything look like anything if I want to (a mine look like a tree for example) ((in my past character I was the baron of outer Kal'Urgan for the dwarfs and everybody said I was amazing at it))

Ideas? (optional):more mines, more housing and a more mining like atmosphere. All while still keeping it elven.

i think if we make it more open to dwarves, the dwarves might be going to live there, and if that happens ravenhold could turn into an dwarven mining camp. if the recources are all gone the dwarves will leave without selling there homes, and when that happens ravenhold might turn into a ghost town.

Percival takes out his personal feather quill, some black ink, and some parchment out to write a note in reply.

Roleplay name : Greetings, High Prince! My name is Percival, of the halfling race.

Minecraft log-in :

trocks614

Aspirations : I may be of a short race, but I have tall goals, indeed! I spent many years in Malinor doing various activities, and I am fairly well acquainted with Raven Hold. My goals are to create a peaceful and luxurious atmosphere, gain minas and reputation for the Princedom of Malinor, and to live in peace with harmony. As a reader of many druidic texts, I would like to be more careful about how destructive industry is, while still producing.

Qualifications :

Born to a middle class family in Alkhazar, I did have an official education, but that is not where I gained most of my knowledge. Since I was a young lad, I have wandered the land as a thinker, philosopher, architect, and storyteller. My intellectual pursuits led me to spend much time in Malinor, as you can probably tell from my wordy way of speech. Indeed, I became well versed in elvish culture and architecture. As well, I believe that I could add some halfling spirit to the town with my charisma and storytelling!

Ideas? (optional) : Though I do not know if this is already in place, I would like to add some structure to the mining by employing official miners as workers of the city and princedom. I give them ranks and pay levels, depending on how much revenue they produce. Also, while most of the luxurious housing on the lake is taken up, I wish to provide more housing for those who are wealthy and wish for a quiet, serene environment. Along the lines of environment, I would also like to enlist the Druidic Order to help make sure that the mining and lumber operations are in balance with nature.

OOC: One thing I'm keen on is creating a lot of opportunities for roleplaying. Whether it be hosting a fair, to having druids inspect the town, to creating unique jobs, that is truely my ultimate goal. If I can help the town prosper, create roleplay, and drink a ton of virtual ale, then I'll consider it a job well done.

I thank you for the time spent reading my not-so-concise application. May the forest watch over you, High Prince.

-Percival.

Edit: OOC - After doing some intense town-exploring and talking with residents, I have a few things I would like to add. The first being that, typically, the town is very empty. I believe it is partly due to lack of shops and/or a social area. Another contributing factor is the large number of very large homes that are vacant. I'd estimate half of the lake houses are essentially abandoned.

Some residents confirmed that they would rather a bit less exclusivity as a sacrifice for more social roleplay. I would most likely give everyone a week or two notice, as the High Prince did with Laurelin, in order to see who is still present. Then I would take the abandoned land and create some less extravagant, but still nice and well priced homes.

I understand some go there specifically for the quiet rich communities, so rest assured, I would not let your serene environment spoil. Another thought was to make a very small, gated community for the wealthy.

Either way, I just wanted to let everyone know that I am working hard to decide on a good course of action for Raven Hold, despite whether I have the title of Caretaker or not.

Roleplay name : Eärendil

Minecraft log-in : _Earendil_

Aspirations : Since joining the server on its opening day, my characters aspirations have been to serve his home nation of Malinor in any way he can. Additionally, Earendil dreamed of one day becoming a great architect of Malinor and helping expand and maintain the great lore of Aegis' most harmonious nation.

Qualifications : Firstly I have been a proud member of the Ravenhold community since close to it's opening - I own a home there and have spent much time gathering resources nearby and working on my house. Recently however I have been doing some work for the Ascended - winning their boat building contest with my design, I am now finishing a second larger ship for the Haven. My boats will soon bring passengers between the Haven and other nations of Aegis, though you should head over to the Haven docks to check them out if you have a chance. I guess this would be the most recent addition to my architectural resume in Aegis. Now that I am nearly finished with the boat building project, I also will need a new big project to focus on.

Ideas? (optional) : One of the most alluring aspects of Ravenhold is its pure beauty and, at the end of the day, its exclusivity. I believe more homes should be built, but they must be monitored very closely to stay in the style of the community, and expansion should not be so large or dense that Ravenhold should become comparable to Laurelin - Laurelin is the great elven city, Ravenhold is where we go to retreat. Rather than building cheap homes for everyone to own a home in Ravenhold and no one to use, I suggest maintaining the higher price-end so residents who invest themselves in the property will be more inclined to stay and develop the community (a 15,000 minas home is much harder to just leave sitting and forget about than a 2,000 minas home). Rather than open up Ravenhold with hundreds of homes, we will build some new homes, but also expand a quaint sea-side street with elven taverns, hotels, and gathering places - a place where people will come from far and wide to enjoy a vacation in the peaceful town of Ravenhold. On the other hand, Ravenhold was founded as a mining town so it will be essential to continue to support it's mining community - expansion of the mine and foundation of a logging community would be great, possibly with a camp of cheaper housing for workers. I have a great vision of Ravenhold that rather than turn it into something new, expands on what has made it one of the most talked-about communities in Aegis.

Cheers

These are all great people to choose from, but me support goes with Percival and Earendil. They both seem to have the same general ideas fer the future of Raven Hold. Their applicitions were both well written and enjoyable to read. Although, I do lean towards Percival a bit: He's me second cousin once removed!

Best o' luck to all of ya - Petyr

I think Percival and Eärendil have some fantastic ideas to bring to Ravenhold, but I feel the need to bring up this subject: Are other non-elf races allowed to hold positions of power in the Elven Government? All I'm asking here is that the higher powers who shall be deciding who will become the Mayor take this into account. Although Percival has many, many good ideas, I don't think it would be accepted if a Halfling became the Mayor of an Elven City. Perhaps he could still become an advisor to the Mayor? That would be an equal compromise. The chosen mayor could still put his ideas into action along with the help of the advisor, but the mayor is a political figure and I think it's right to keep that position strictly available only to the Elves.

Best Regards to the Applicants,

Warden Noble Leafwind of Ravenhold

I happen to live in Serpent Ridge, and our Caretaker/Mayor is an Orc, in fact!

Indeed, I understand your concern my friend. Two things to take note of: The caretaker/mayor of Serpent Ridge is an orc, as Petyr said. This leads me to believe that race itself is not a problem. Also, I can say that the halfling culture, as opposed to some other human cultures, is very similar to elvish culture in regards to respect for nature. Though typically some halflings are not as fond of trees, they still admire the beauty of the land and try to tread with light feet, you may say.

I'm glad that you find my ideas good, as well! Of course, if you have any specific additional thoughts, don't hesitate to tell me. I don't have a personal agenda that takes priority over improving on Raven Hold.

-Percival.
