ĔṀĔŔĨĨČĶ 519 Share Posted December 1, 2013 Kaelys nods to Iosif. "I mean no Disrespect Brother Alexios, but I did not see you around Abresi much in the several years I've lived in it. Though we are slim on choices on who could take the position. I Believe we should give Brother Alexios a chance to give his case, perhaps he will not be as bad for the faith as some may fear." ĔṀĔŔĨĨČĶ 519 Share Posted December 1, 2013 "As Brother Alexios said, who are the choices? There are very few names that could be put up. I Personally trust in the last Archbishop's choice, and will back Brother Alexios."

I am simply saying I back Brother Alexios. I give him my support. As who made me a priest, it is as Brother Alexios said."

Archbishop John 85 Author Share Posted December 1, 2013 Understandable, we do not fear that brother Alexios is bad for the faith. That is not the problem at all the problem is the way a leader of the faith is chosen. Since the days of Godfrey no Emperor has chosen or deposed a leader of the faith and no man can, it is by holy light that guide our minds and souls that he is chosen. Even Great Godfrey only deposed a high pontiff and let the priests elect that was the deposing of Gideon curse his name and the appointment of boiendl by the priests. "Aye there are many." he points to the prelate of the faith Signus Cross, he then points towards the Archbishop of Heredual, and after that to the Metropolitan of Kralta. "These three men are your seniors."

ĔṀĔŔĨĨČĶ 519 Share Posted December 1, 2013 "Not to overstep my bounds, but though they may be his seniors, we should not ignore the last Holy Ecclesiarch's recommendation either. Shadowjax 140 Share Posted December 1, 2013 Borikdan stumbles in, a drunken mess. "Apologies for late arrival, was raiding heathen elfski. Borikdan is in support of an election between the bishops of the Holy Church to appoint the new High Ecclesiarch. While not necessarily in opposition to the appointed Ecclesiarch's position, we must remain true to the rules that have been established." Esterlen 4499 Share Posted December 2, 2013 The layman returns, confirming John of Darfey's opinion on the ordination of the priesthood. He also leans forward, whispering into the bishop's ear. "The formal elective succession and rules of elective succession of the papal throne were abolished by High Pontiff Owyn II, leaving the only potential method of succession appointment with the tacit approval of the bishops. Thus Alexios is the established Archbishop of Oren, however he requires the approval, not the election, of the majority of the Synod to be anointed High Ecclesiarch, or head of the Church. It is in concordance with canon law, in times such as these, to hold an informal vote amongst the Synod as to whether approval shall be given to proceed with his anointment as High Ecclesiarch. If the vote comes back as not being in his favor, then the Synod may at last lawfully present their other candidates. The suggestion is John of Darfey or Castus of Herendul. It is also believed that Signus Cross should never be entrusted with the reins of the papacy."
Castus 71 Share Posted December 2, 2013 Castus nods as the question is posed, and stands to speak, "These are curious times indeed. I motion that deny his eminence, Archbishop Alexios's, anointment to the seat of the Ecclesiarch at the present, and proceed as if this were a convening of the Synod to select between candidates proposed. These are listed thusly," the Archbishop pauses, then begins to list off names, "Nominated by his grace, Bishop John of Darfey are: "His grace, Metropolitan Bishop Iosif Ruthern," "His eminence, Archbishop Castus II, myself." ", and lastly, His excellency, Prelate Signus Cross." "Nominated by the former Ecclesiarch is his eminence, Archbishop Alexios I," Castus gestures for the scribe at his side to write down these names, before he continues speaking, "Now I will address his eminence, Alexios, and father Kaelys's query. Under the circumstances I feel it is best that I accept my nomination, so that the council may have ample choices to deliberate between. If his excellency, Signus Cross, and his grace, Iosif Ruthern, accept their nominations, I suggest that we proceed with those four candidates in mind. At the moment though, only my fellow Archbishop Alexios and I have indicated our acceptance of the nominations." The Archbishop settles himself back into his seat at the head of his halls, and nods to note that he has finished speaking.
