Borikdan hesitantly casts his vote.

"Something should be done, I understand the inherent problems with allowing lower-clergymen voting on such issues."

"Revered works better in such a situation- shall we saint my father to while we are at it?" The Prince-Archbishop snarls, "Howest, I nominate myself to fill Gwenael Ashfords roll as Exarch in his absence. My holdings are mostly honorary apart from my secular duchy of Renatus. It would match my aptitudes."

"You are confused friend, there is no Renatus anymore. There is only Oren. Now.. If I may ask, who exactly are you? You are not Clergy as far as I know..."

"Yes, I know...? I'm Prince Godfrymir Sarkozic Carrion-Horen, Prince-Bishop of Kvaz and Duke of Renatus."

"Than your believed wrong, I was ordained by my Uncle Radomir, and granted blessing over my clerical holdings."

Kaelys pauses for a moment. "Please leave, this is a meeting for the Clergy only. Prince or no Prince, I've seen the names of all Bishops and you are not among them."

Chuckles slightly at these weird claims, Alexios passes in his vote.

"Now to answer Brother Kaelys, if we choose to go with the plan of electing two new bishops to be electors with His holiness Bishop John, we may deem this current vote null. What say you brothers?"

"Why not you excuse yourself, Hightower? I have yet seen any contribution you have made towards the clergy apart from argue with me. Yet, you still ask me to leave."

The King walks by the snowy chapel, looking in on the proceedings, seeing many new faces amongst the clergy. As he walks down the other side of the hill, he gestures for a passing farmer, "Bring those stuffy priests and scholars some bread and a nice ale, and get the fire roaring." The King flips the farmer a gold coin for doing so, and continues on his way.

Kaelys sighs. "The Solution to that problem is simple, the vote has started. Allow no new priests past this point to join in. But honestly you're right, what other way do we have to do this election? I see no other option. If someone could put forward something then I would be more then happy even if I lose my ability to vote."

The Archbishop raises an eyebrow, thinking that a logical solution can still be implemented, "It would be most reasonable to do as Bishop John suggested to me in private counsel. With only the senior church officials, eliminate one candidate each round of voting whose vote count is the lowest, until two remain."

Castus glances around at the sudden appearance of clergy that no one had ever seen before, and gives a small sigh. The ecclesiastic scratches several quick letters on a piece of paper, and slides it to one of his laymen to bring to the scribe.

"Yes, I know...? I'm Prince Godfrymir Sarkozic Carrion-Horen, Prince-Bishop of Kvaz and Duke of Renatus."

As Castus hears this, he gives a light chuckle, "To be both a Prince-Bishop, and a Duke, you must somehow hold two conflicting and binding oaths of fealty to the Church and to the Kingdom of Oren. This cannot be so, the Creator frowns greatly upon dishonesty and oath breakers, as I'm sure a royal with many names like yourself must know."

Adjusting himself in his chair, Castus turns to the other Archbishop in the room, and shrugs, "There is no need for an electoral college if we simply limit the election  to the senior clergy."

"four out of the five senior clergy happens to be candidates, thus making the only deciding vote Bishop John."

Kaelys fidgets in his seat as the brash Carrion barks down at him, but he responds with a stern tone of voice. "I may be a humble priest, born as Garth Hightower's hated and supposed bastard, but at least I actually am around the streets of Abresi preaching and working with the common people. I have yet to see you about in the realm of man; it seems what your late grandfather, our last Imperial Divinity was right about your slothful nature.

And before you call your elder naive once more about our late Emperor, you must remember that we bastards often are only granted only studies compared to our noble family's bloodrights and wealth, and I have study well Oren's contemporary history. Without Siegmund, there would have been no Savoie as it would have been swallowed whole by other human states without his late Imperial Divine's levy, wit, and swords, unless you consider having a half-dozen men "forging a kingdom". Owyn clearly did not lay down the foundations for Carrion's pious rule in fostering noble and land reform considered he appointed two of the most inactive and slothful nobles with no notable accomplishments, Maric Vardoyr and Gavin Wold to high rank simple out of friendship and also made no progressions in church and state, which were left to his Imperial Divine to rear.  In fact I am not even sure why he is patron saint of Ruska when he died after its formation. Everything that Owyn was made a patron saint for, unity, diplomacy, Raevirs, would rightfully belong to Siegmund; Owyn never united vicious Flay kings with mere words, or anything near that, though I believe Siegmund could be a patron saint of other things as well.

Considering it was Siegmund who brokered Salvus to even consider joining under Imperial banners, as your father had inspired tyranny wherever he went sparking three different wars for Tuvya to ward off, I would not consider your father a pious man either, in fact the rebellions and wars which plague Oren to this day largely stem from his rule. We can give him credit for Renatus, da, but exiling a bunch of nobles on a father's will is not a pious act. You are no bishop as you have not been listed in any formal records, you are not active in neither Church or State, and you have no place here as it seems to me you merely linger here to spite your saintly grandfather because he negated your succession and claim churchly titles to compensate."

Castus nods, "Yes, yes. He would make a selection, then leaving 3 candidates instead of 4. The losing candidate would make his selection, and the one with the least votes is too removed from the running, then limiting the number to 2 candidates which the remaining senior clergy would decide between. Of course, that all ends up somewhat drawn out. In a situation like this, decisions need be made. Perhaps a specific electorate could be created, but how would we filter admissions of individuals into this group?"

The Archbishop takes pause to consider, then turns to address Bishop John, "Your grace, how do you think we should proceed in such a matter? You posses a time-honed sagacity, and are well versed in these matters, your counsel would be most valuable."

Castus nods simply, "If it is so. Let us hear Bishop John's counsel on the matter, brother."
