Ban List - Wipe

Hey there, as we all may know permanently banning someone from a community is quite a large action to make, in essence you’re entirely cutting someone out of the picture, we all share a common interest that we enjoy sharing, many people do something stupid spontaneously or out of spite in their time on the server, or perhaps unintentionally insult someone, some can cope with their feelings better than others, and usually the ones who commit these offenses regret it later on.

 

I think that we can all agree that the bad outweighs the good a person does by a tremendous amount, because god forbid somebody loses their items with minimal roleplay for once, because that can’t surely be fixed with minimal effort where both players can come to an agreement and simply shrug it off, in the three years that I’ve been on LoTC rules have changed a lot, players may have been banned two years ago as to which today their actions would be acceptable, and vice versa.

 

So I propose for the first time(?) in three years to propose a ban list wipe, everybody breaks a rule here and there at times that will go unnoticed, but that doesn’t necessarily mean they are bad people by any means, and in the end, if somebody really wants to play on LoTC they’ll find a way to do so.

 

I’d like to hear your opinions on this, since it’s obviously a delicate matter.

I'm going to say no on this. There are some pretty bad people that have come to this server and should remain banned. 

 

Of course there might be a few bad apples, but being unbanned doesn't give anybody the immunity of being banned again.

Or just unban who deserves unbanning? Everybody is innocent until proven guilty, and those who have been banned have been proven guilty. I support the unbanning of pugsiers, but not every crime is equal.

Everyone's human, and let's face it... humans can do pretty stupid stuff sometimes. I feel people who have acted on their emotions without thinking (such as pugsying, harassing someone in anger) should be forgiven, because nobody's perfect. A lot of people of the people who have been banned should have the opportunity to show LotC that they can handle themselves maturely.

If done. It would need to be done case by case. And I would say maybe instead of perma bans. Anyone banned for over a year. Or two should be unbanned. As if they are banned for a year or two. And still wish to be apart of the community, you know they would try not to muck it up. And should be given another chance. Though of course done case by case.
