cj_scout 305 Share Posted April 9, 2014 I'm going to say this from a standpoint not biased towards staff whatsoever. This is unnecessary and will truly cause more problems than it fixes. Switching admins requires finding people who are suitable, whom are normally GMs that have experience with server leadership and moderation. Removing GMs, not to mention all staff, would leave them picking people who they don't know can live up to the job, nor that would even want it. Simply put, a purge of staff would be anarchy, and almost any other staff will tell you the same. Tl;DR, Please no.
Crayfishchris 751 Share Posted April 9, 2014 More often than not, when i can do modreqs, i can't type fast enough to get them before one of the others. Guilty as charged. Honestly, folks, I'm going to say no. Not to defend my 'title' or the position, but no. I still don't know everything there is to know to staffing. Even though you guys say it isn't too hard, there are things that any amount of reading plugin command lists can't give you in a week or so. It does take time to 'train' (though I hesitate to use the word). Only severe inactivity or idiotic choices warrant a removal from a staff team. I'll try my best to answer all your modreqs, but we all are human beings too :)
Friendly Guy 223 Share Posted April 9, 2014 Modreq's are being done. Applications are being done. Don't break teams that aren't broken. Leave it up to team leaders to remove people who are inactive Rhia does it all the time to the AT and id expect the same from ET and GM
Sneaky 189 Share Posted April 10, 2014 What I'm saying is this, Staff members that are inactive for a certain amount of time should be removed. I've seen people more than I ever have now. Like Uraspet sits in ts! That's enough for me, interaction is key...
Song Druid 1486 Share Posted April 13, 2014 Sorry to borderline necro a dead thread, but I'll give my .02. Purges are never the answer to any problem. We can't just shove away the effective ones to get rid of the bad ones. Also, who decides who gets to be the new leaders? The community? I'm not sure which one I distrust more, bad GM team or the community. Either one will slowly destroy this server. I will do something I very rarely do and that's speak about my experience in LotC staff. I spent the better part of 2 years on the FM team and being very close to several of the leaders of this community. The biggest and most glaring problem is that the staff has problems self regulating and doesn't admit it's wrong easily. Dusk was banned because screenshots surfaced of her actions during a time when 80% of all the girls on the GM had cybered multiple times in the past. Most of the things members were banned for were done first by GMs at that time. Effective GMs. Admins respond less to sensible, logical points and slowly move to please certain groups and ignore the problems with their underlings unless they are forced to deal with them. Without naming names I have witnessed people be incredibly self serving but when confronting their superiors the superiors constantly would make excuses. Expectations were not set and therefore GMs eventually did what they wanted. Removing people that they didn't like however was a different thing altogether. Though many times it had to be done in cowardly underhanded ways that were masked with injustice-even my own untimely ejection from the FM team was a result of poorly managed cowardness on GM and Admin part alike. Where there should have been clear communication between both sides there was none. In the end the first excuse (no matter how bad) they could get they took it. To this day those in charge don't face what they did openly. If we want to fix the staff it won't be by a purge, a. they would never allow it and b. we can't risk letting the playerbase choose our leaders. instead it needs to be done by growth within our staff itself and better management. Ceasing the self-service and childish fights and working together and communicating. Understanding that the players aren't always criminals and people do change. I've come to realize that myself. We can make changes only if we are willing to change.
