A new take on Shaman and adding Trolls

You have a point there. Maybe Tundra orcs were forced from their homes by rampant undead attacks and they had nowhere else to go? Maybe they came to Krugmar because their original homes were destroyed by the Undead in the north.

I would like trolls to be added, with Aztec architecture as their theme. It would provide a great deal of diversity to the Orcs, which is what we need.

It really is unfortunate, but that would probably have to be the case, or find some other way to bring them into Krugmar lore-wise (unless the orc's biome just radically changes with the new move). If Minecraft was a larger game and we could realistically have 1000 ppl playing at any given time, then this wouldn't really be an issue, but with 250 players, and barely any of those 250 playing as Orcs, it would just be too much to be that spread out. I would argue that we are perhaps too spread out as it is currently in 1.8 .

Sorry for being so pessimistic :(

No problem, Baisha. I think you bring up good points.

Having the new subrace forced from their homes by Undead would create tension between Krugmar Orcs and Tundra Orcs as well. Krugmar orcs would look down on them for not being able to keep their homes, even if they were literally overwhelmed with undead. Krugmar orcs would probably fight to the last man to keep their land safe, but maybe Tundra Orcs place more value on survival and chose to flee. Their difference in opinion would create conflict, which makes for interesting RP.

Perhaps in the real world, a desert next to a tundra might seem silly, but it's Minecraft! Does it have to make sense?

Of course not :P And one of the main reasons I bring this up is that I would like to see things be more centralized, to make for a more enjoyable RP experience. I mean, I'm sure people would like to actually have a town that's being inhabited by citizens and being used, rather then having things spread across 3 or 4 cities, and then each of those cities is just a straight-up ghost town with plug-in shops.

How many people do you ever hear about/see in Gorkil, Sanjezal (bad example) or the nomad village? The only place you can see people is in Sanhar, and outside of the gate of Sanhar, and even then you dont really see many people around.

I think this probably needs to be in the future of the orcs thread instead, lol

It would be kind of pointless to put all the cities right next to each other, though, wouldn't it? Why not just combine them all into one big city if they're just going to be across the street from one another? Gorkila, Sanjezal, and Sanhar are all already pretty close together.

I think the real problem is that our population is just so small! How many orcs are there? Thirty something? And we're all usually off doing different things.

Sorry, i should've been more clear, but I am in agreement with you and is what i meant about centralizing things. I would just rather have one hub for the Orcs, rather than being spread out like we are now. I believe people are currently in talks about having a capital and a merchant city in the new map, but i just feel more and more that one of these would just become a ghost town, unless we can get a large influx of Orcs between now and then.

I still would like trolls to be more of jungle/swamp orcs. They would actualy be smaler then the average orc but larger then a human, they would be strong but not as strong as an orc.Trolls would be savager as well, they would be canibalistic and would like to sacrafice things instead of watching them fight. For example in orc society if someone kills someone the murderer would be sent into the arena to fight for his life, but in troll society you would not be sent into an arena but would be sent to the temple and sacrificed to the spirits.

Troll's would not use hard mele weapons but they dont actualy like to use them, they rather use a bow or a light sword.Another thing they would like are psicologic weapons like exploiting their fears and talking from the deep of the forest when they someone enters their territory.Their guards would take the name "whispers of the dark"and would freak out every one that enters their land. They are very xenofobic and will kill anyone that comes in their land un invited, they will only let orcs in to their lands because they are considered by the trolls as cousins

Before a batle the trolls like to make a ritual where they call upon the spirits of the ancestors and their shamans will make potions(aka ale) and give it to the soldiers so they would fell fear less, be brave and savage(aka geting drunk)) .During a batle the trolls would like to maake suprise atacks and murder the enmy while he is unaware of the danger.During the battle an elite fighting force is responsible for capturing enemies and to bring tthem back to their city and sacrafice him to please the spirits.Normal trolls will try to always get a part of their victims body and give it to their shamans that would use them to make their potions.

Shamanism is a big part of their culture. They would worship the ancestors and the spirits and will sacrafice victims to their ancestors,to please them so they would be blessed by their ancestors.A shaman would be realy respected and liked in their culture, they would be treated as lords and and princes. But if there is bad things hapening and the spirits are not pleased, the people would riot against the shamans and would use the blood of the shamans to please the spirits.

((this is all i got now, i made it a mixture of Aztec, caribean tribes,Native american and african tribes and of course trolls from war craft))

I love the element of surprise, especially in warfare. Perhaps some of their elements and traits could be altered a bit though, so that players aren't required to have a villain app in order to play one.

yeah i think i got a bit too caried a way with the savegery thing but you get what i say, thhe trolls would be savage and mercyless, but the elite guard that captures people for sacrafices needs to have a vilan app

My only problem with Craotor's suggestion is that his trolls sound a heck of a lot like the ones in WoW.

Don't get me wrong, I LOVE trolls in WoW. They were my third favorite race (First was goblins, second was orcs). However, I don't think we should be taking ideas from Warcraft. It'd be better if we established our own unique take on the trolls and other potential subraces.

Never really got into WoW so I can't really comment on that, but I imagine it's going to take a whole lot of creativity to get away from anything that isn't seemingly a combination of characteristics/traits from 40k/WoW/LotR/etc. Which is one thing I like about the tundra orc idea, it seems to get away from that (as far as i'm aware lol)

The problem here is that the lore has already established the desert as being primary orcish territory. Tundra orcs would have to come from the new continent for it to make any sense. A desert/tundra combination would be interesting though, as each sub-race would have distinct differences.

A subrace of Plains Orcs as I described above might make sense, but as Gragarn told me, they risk coming off as "pretty" orcs. And while making a "pretty" subrace might draw in more players, it might ruin the feel of Orcish society.

But I can see Krugmar becoming a bit grassy as it approaches the border of Malinor.
