Going off of what Sultan said, perhaps compromise could be made and PvP turned off in the capitals? If PvP is turned off, then perhaps raids on towns and settlements should be allowed free-will. It will encourage centralized roleplay in the various nation capitals, because the capitals are a safe-haven from conflict.

My only concern is those who /want/ to raid. Some people play to have military RP. What about those? Rp is meant to be fun for everyone, not just those who want to Rp peacefully without threat.

Same argument goes both ways.

My only concern is those who /want/ to tear down the sandcastles. Some people play to have sandcastle crushing lives! Life is meant to be fun for everyone!

The villain rules prohibited the hedonism that is self-gratifying role play, with their removal we now see threads like this popping up everywhere and getting accepted that support only the Powergaming ideology of Lord of the Craft, that is, that there is a way to win the game by military means. Even so. This is a game, and as a game its prime topic is to provide enjoyment even if it does so, so rarely outside of horrible coincidence. This would just make self-serving players become more self-serving by enabling them to harass people who don't deserve it. I've both been the harasser, and the harasse(in my situation, I was in the wrong on the harrasee bit) and I can see how losing a build or mats or anything can be annoying because it is 'logical' or 'pleasant' for the other side.

Turning off PvP in capitals would just cause another uproar in 2 weeks of being set. Countless forum topics such as this will pop up, saying "No pvp in capitals is destroying military and bandit rp!!!". There will never be a solution, as everyone has their own wants and ideas of what should be what. My only idea would be to raid people who want to be raided. If people want to ***** about losing their RP items, then leave them be. This server is about enjoyment, not making 9 year olds cut themselves because they lost their special pixel.

Your argument that villain applications prevented self-gratifying roleplay is far from the truth, and I know for a fact a lot of the reason they were removed was because of said self-gratification that people became sick of.

I don't know what you're trying to argue when it comes to military means, because the strongest military always wins -- in-game or on Lord of the Craft.

I'm arguing that by raiding and pillaging everything present on your land, you've set about trying to 'win' in some small way that is unfair to those who are losing, just as you said, this is a game, not a simulation of reality. VA's prohibited VILLAINOUS self-gratifying roleplay, or should've, I should say. It was in the rules anyway.

My opinion is that War /is/ rp and if you restrict what you can do in a war, it restricts the actual repercussions that would occur during a war. Lighten the rules on war in general or else war isn't actually war at all. Rp is rp, no matter whether one party doesn't like it or not and that includes the rp that happens due to war. Restrictions on war only hinders the reality of rp.

This is a horrible idea and would be completely mishandled by the many power-monging 24/7 no-lifers that linger on Team Speak and Skype. I can already sit here on this forum and see them all slowly making their power-grabs and posturing themselves for a 4.0 faction server.

I still think war should be consensual if the attack if unprovoked. If king bob decides to gather his TS Friends to raid the orcs, and when the orcs want to retaliate, they can do that without requiring OOC permission.
