Alan 1815 Author Share Posted April 26, 2014 Maybe you should misinterpret the pugsying rules next time rather than something that couldn't actually be misinterpreted. It's a rule change, so why don't you just say it as it is? Truthfully? Because it's not. The rule was indeed changed a month or more ago when I posted the updated server rules and guidelines, but this thread contains a clarification of that rule. As I mentioned in my previous reply to this thread, I have nothing to gain from falsely calling it a clarification, nor does anyone for that matter, so that leaves us with two possibilities: Either this is indeed a clarification, or I'm a masochist who enjoys needlessly responding to players who blow trivialities out of proportion as if to prove a point.
Chikachu 402 Share Posted April 26, 2014 Just to add this in here, I've had some fantastic experiences with 20+ rp fights. Granted, there were a few missed emotes here and there, and there were a few accidents and some confusion, but the biggest thing that helped make it good was the fact that people said, "It's okay, why don't we do this" "Okay, that works" and cooperated with each other instead of trying to win. The majority of those ended in careful ties, and it was just fine. I've been in terrible large rp fights as well. You know what made the difference? "You can't do that, it doesn't make sense." "Yes I can too, I've been training for like fifty years" "Well that doesn't work so take it back". Hm. Bickering IS a problem, innit?
~ Fiend ~ 611 Share Posted April 26, 2014 Clears things up. All hail the druid overlord. And honestly it's not a rule change, it's just clarifying a way in which it was commonly misinterpreted. It never should've been interpreted that way to begin with, so here we are. Relax and be nice to the admins.
Lvke 1000 Share Posted April 26, 2014 This is not a misinterpretation. This is a rule change. Misinterpreting how the rules were written the day before was about as possible as misinterpreting what the trigger of a gun does. At this point, Alan, you're spewing utter garbage and forcing the community to eat it up.
Mining 129 Share Posted April 26, 2014 It's funny how a single picture, taken from an animated kids movie can accurately sum up my whole view (and the view I believe the community needs to adopt) on this matter (and just about every other matter related to this server). When we changed from rp default to pvp default, I was disappointed. Nexus combat was a bit of a disappointment. When we removed villain applications, I was a little disappointed as well. But seriously, everyone needs to just keep swimming, roll with the punches and not go hunting for your pitchforks every time the admins and staff make a decision. Just. Keep. Swimming. Go out and role play and I think you'll find that this clarification (yes, it is a clarification, not a rule change. I must be one of the few that actually interpreted it as this from the start...) will not in fact change the way you interact with other players very much. Everyone just keep swimming, and just keep roleplaying.
Draeris 3124 Share Posted April 26, 2014 I wonder, does Wildcraft PvP have RP default?
Gemmylou 484 Share Posted April 26, 2014 I honestly get why a lot of you are pissed but just try it. If it doesn't work then we can re-evaluate. I had no idea about this change at all.
Geo 1415 Share Posted April 26, 2014 This is not a misinterpretation. This is a rule change. Misinterpreting how the rules were written the day before was about as possible as misinterpreting what the trigger of a gun does. At this point, Alan, you're spewing utter garbage and forcing the community to eat it up. May want to read what you're actually typing before you post it, and actually /read/ the words of the person you're having an argument with. Even if this was a rule change, such as you're crying out for it to be, would that change anything? Whether the rule was different yesterday than it is today (Which it is not), the result stays the same. This is how the rule is. This is how the rule is before. This post is to make sure people understand exactly what the rule means, both players and admins alike. You don't need to like it. You don't need to accept that it was a clarification. You just need to follow the rule, and this post tells you exactly how it should be followed. So there you go, it's followed. But publicly telling Rittsy that he is wrong solves nothing, and he likely doesn't care whether you call it a rule change or not, as it's nothing more than a clarification. At the end of the day it does not matter. Here's your PVP default rule. Follow it.
Jachnun 566 Share Posted April 26, 2014 Set a player cap of 6 players for the majority vote! Players over 6 is automatically PVP unless both parties agree to RP! Thats fine but now that the rule is "clarified!!" how am I supposed to fight off dem' powergamers and orcs. I couldn't kill one ***** orc my entire time on the server in a rp fight, its too op
Noer 577 Share Posted April 26, 2014 If 101/200 want a group RP fight, then it's an RP fight. That's the glory of compromise between RP and PvP default; it's likely that not everyone is jumping with joy, but at least both sides partly get what they want. This isn't really an issue though. Here's why: As you can see by Cyndikate's post, even avid supporters of RP fighting aren't a fan of mass fights. It's incredibly unlikely that large parties will turn out with a majority in favor of RP fighting, so this is more of a theoretical possibility than it is an actual event that will happen. NOBODY ON THE PVP DEFAULT SIDE WANTS THIS.

Noer 577 Share Posted April 26, 2014 No. Nobody on the pvp default side wants to compromise? The System was perfect as it was, it prevented powergaming and rp stalling, and now it will only lead to hatred from both sides. As a matter of fact, look at Aislin's post. It has almost twice the +1's this has, and thats says something.
