"It is the 41st Millennium. For more than a hundred centuries the Emperor of Mankind has sat immobile on the Golden Throne of Earth. He is the master of mankind by the will of the gods and master of a million worlds by the might of his inexhaustible armies. He is a rotting carcass writhing invisibly with power from the Dark Age of Technology. He is the Carrion Lord of the vast Imperium of Man for whom a thousand souls are sacrificed every day so that he may never truly die.Yet even in his deathless state, the Emperor continues his eternal vigilance. Mighty battlefleets cross the daemon-infested miasma of the Warp, the only route between distant stars, their way lit by the Astronomican, the psychic manifestation of the Emperor's will. Vast armies give battle in His name on uncounted worlds. Greatest amongst his soldiers are the Adeptus Astartes, the Space Marines, bio-engineered super-warriors. Their comrades in arms are legion: the Imperial Guard and countless planetary defence forces, the ever-vigilant Inquisition and the tech-priests of the Adeptus Mechanicus to name only a few. But for all their multitudes, they are barely enough to hold off the ever-present threat to humanity from aliens, heretics, mutants -- and far, far worse. To be a man in such times is to be one amongst untold billions. It is to live in the cruelest and most bloody regime imaginable. These are the tales of those times. Forget the power of technology and science, for so much has been forgotten, never to be relearned. Forget the promise of progress and understanding, for in the grim dark future there is only war. There is no peace amongst the stars, only an eternity of carnage and slaughter, and the laughter of thirsting gods."

Abandon paces the halls of his captured Space Hulk, it was purged and in use just outside the Eye of Terror, taking in reports, one system he scowled at, his twisted features making it obvious of his disdain of such a place, his voice amplified by centuries of corruption, and modification, it was like an echo in a vox mixed with pure hate and malice "Pale Stars... Burn it" With a word, a cabal of sorcerers of the assembled Legions and Warbands began their work, and the Pale Stars Sub-Sector was plunged into War.

Daniel Raven
. . . .
Captain of the Harakoni Warhawks 77th Regiment.
. . . .
Currently On Route to Substation Furon via Ridge 44

Daniel Raven quickly took hold of the handrail as his Valkyrie lurched to the side in turbulence. Around him the helmed heads of his Honour Guard and the Stormtrooper Squad in the Valkyrie stared blankly at him in silence. Their mission was to find out what had happened to Substation Furon, one of the major communication facilities on the Crows World and in the case it was attacked... retake it and link up with survivors. The inside of the Valkyrie was illuminated by a communications station built into the middle of the modified Valkyrie. It may have been cramped but it was a vital asset for Daniel and he gladly made the compromise for extra space. The station came to life and the face of a few of the Imperial Officers sat around a table discussing tactics with one another. Daniel cleared his throat and the heads turned to look at him.

"Ah Captain, good to hear from you. Have you reached the Substation yet?"

Daniel Shook his head.

"Sir we are about to go through enemy occupied territory. The heretics have established a foothold on the top of Ridge 44 and we expect heavy AA fire. We expect to lose all communications as we reach the Ridge line and will re-establish contact once Substation Furon is retaken. Captain Daniel out."

He hadn't needed to sign off as the Vox channel cut dead due to interference from enemy AA fire. They had reached Ridge 44, Daniel looked at his men.

"One minute! Lock and Load!"

It was pitch black outside and they were planning to get through Ridge 44 without being spotted, but there cover had already been blown as he could tell by the AA fire up ahead.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dIn7FNTw5vg

The Valkyries crested the top of the ridge line and all hell broke loose, the Wing of Valkyries and supporting Vulture Gunships split off into two groups to increase the like hood of them getting through with minimum casualties , navigating their way through the thick enemy fire. The Vultures lit up the tops of the ridge with their rocket pods. Hundreds of bright lights descended from their wings onto the enemy positions below, engulfing the entire ridge line in flames, sending the enemy positions below into chaos. But this was just the beginning, the enemy fire only increased as new AA guns below tracked their trajectory in an attempt to stop them from reaching their destination. But the pilots of the 77th Harakanoi Warhawks were determiend to proof their metal and lurched from side to side in evasive manoeuvres that were nearly impossible to track. The grim faced soldiers held on tight, trusting their pilots to see them through to the end.

The light above the doors on either side of the dropships lit up green as the doors slowly peeled back, a torrential force of wind sucked them out into the night sky as the Valkyries flew over their objectives at maximum speed, still drawing enemy fire onto themselves and away from the now descending regiment of Drop Troopers. Below them the heavily fortified Substation was clearly under the control of the Archenemy, cultists ran to and fro between the guns. Carrying ammunition and orders, they were too occupied to spot their death descending onto their heads. They were going to land right in the middle of the enemy forces, looking to either side he saw his men ready their weapons.

It went quiet, the distant AA fire ceasing as the Valkyries and Vultures left the immediate area leaving the descending Guardsmen to face the threat below. Then as if the calm before the storm, 120 bright lights lit up the sky like lightning as if the Emperor himself was casting judgement on their foes. Las fire descended onto the enemy position from the air, cutting the enemy force in half by the time their Grav Chutes activated and they hit the ground.

The fight for Substation Furon had begun.

The fight for Substation Furon had begun.

"FOR CHAAAAAAOOOOOS!"

A roar of voices erupt from the battle lines, traitor guardsmen, cultists, and mutants rose up, firing weapons and charging madly, obvious in their commitment to die, child's play for the strike force.

On the opposite side of the station, fire opened up from trench lines and hundreds of Death Korps heavy weapons teams and batteries opened up, launching a line of smoke at the Harakanoi drops zone for a brief respite for them, cultists and heretics being mowed down, Field Marschal Otto Von Haupt could be seen on top of a burnt out Leman Russ, his face red with rage, he sliced his powersword forward, and a barrage of artillery firing mustard gas into the rear lines of the Traitors

The ominous silence on the communication decks of the rather empty Strike Vessel was only broken by the occasional hiss of static, the muttering of serfs and idle chatter of vox frequencies. Standing in the middle of it was a large figure, clad in a shell of midnight black armour. Every so often the dull pulsing of a single light on a dashboard would illuminate the contrasting palid skin of his face.

He remained silent, simply watching the going-ons of those on the decks. The serfs now paid him no heed, he liked that...silence was a rarity in these times but he knew it wouldn't last much longer. It was at that moment, a serf turned to him simply asking "M'lord?"

Shadow Captain Tacita Darkion approached the serf of interest, his features failing to conceal his fragment of interest at the news he was to receive. The serf handed him a data-slate, partially due to the difficulties with long ranged vox-communications and also due to it's potiential decryption. The black orbs that were Tacita's eyes scanned the data-slate, it's mechanical display casting a light on his pauldrons and face.

++Receiving Encrypted Frequency Vox-net++

++Auth epsilon four-six-two++

++Imperial forces holding against the enemy at Ridge 44, doubt we've been spotted. Permission to engage requested.++

Tacita narrowed his eyes at the last utterance, he suppressed his annoyance at the brash nature of the Scout-sergeant. He paused for a moment, before he curtly pushed the data-slate back into the serf's arms. He pivoted on the spot and stalked back towards the shadows, his rasp breaking above the vox-chatter like ceramite scraping the surface of plasteel.

"No, they shall withdraw...tell the sergeant the soldier's have it under control."

With that he left the communication bridge, deciding to wait until a better time to reveal themselves.

After all, it was the chapter's way.

Blood Pact-Warriors of Chaos

Phargos Hex

If the heat wasn't enough to kill you, it surely would be wildlife. Worse of all was the looming threat o the Dark Eldar. They cared not for the Mon keigh who followed the dark gods, they cared about profit. That profit was slaves, and they had mistakingly chose Phargos Hex to look for slaves. All they found was chaos war bands, smaller colonies and large industrial factories. As soon as it was noticed they were razing outlying towns and enslaving the populaces, chaos forces reacted in force.

Word of increasing raids in the south had prompted response, and that was the Blood Pact. With chaos devotees to use as chaff and in a way to 'sniff' out the Dark Eldar. Reports of a refinery being razed, they raced off to it. The devotees and forward Blood Pact elements met the corsair raiding party. Holding them down with fire, the full war band moved in to engage......

Etogaur Tao of the Blood Pact grimaced as a barb went into the meat of his left arm. Instantly going dead, Tao grunted and switched his bolt pistol to his right hand. Resuming firing, Tao unloaded his clip on the Dark Eldar corsairs who seemed to be everywhere and no where. His bodyguard around him, Tao advanced. Following his lead, Platoon 1 singed the names of daemons and charged into battle. The second platoon stayed in cover and moved to the flanks, shooting at the darting targets. Blood Pact snipers stayed back and opened up on corsairs, and the heavy weapons crew remained in cover incase of any Dark Eldar armor.

Only time would tell if the Blood Pact could cut through the corsair pack they engaged.

((Unless someone goes Dark Eldar i'll be relying on you Konrad.))

The Archon stood in the middle of the factory, burning corpses and blackened walls around him, paying no heed to the battle outside, his warriors holding off the Blood Pact until he was finished.

Holding up a pulsing relic, a smile came to his face, with a grunt, the Archon looked over to his Incubi bodyguard, who were gracefully slaying some of the bloodthirsty cultists and troopers who made it past the lines of Warriors.

One, a large Ogryn with three small horns on his forehead, and a mark of Khorne tattooed onto his face, and a large meat cleaver charged through the Incubi.

The Archon smiled, raised his hand, and launched a gout of warpfire into the Ogryn's face, incinerating it, closing his eyes at the delicious death cries issuing from the beast, then snapping back to reality, moved to join his Warriors on the front line.

The never ending pounding of carapace boots against steel and whir of engines from the garages and drill courtyards down below echoed about his office, the pounding driving a rhythm into the man as he grumbled looking up to the fresh cadet in front of him.

"Here sir."

Marcus nodded towards the cadet as he handed him the data-slate, sending him off with a flick of his hand in a waving gesture. The marshal stood from his chair looking down towards it as he took in the latest reports of the walls integrity, no security breaches that were felt to need immediate attention. Slipping his spare hand to his mouth he clutched the cigar protruding from his lips and held it idly in his hand as he left out a puff of smoke, slowly strolling over towards the large balcony of his office that looked over the courts of Courthouse Fortress.

"Tha' day there's a breach in these damned walls is the day I lose all faith in the Imperium..."

He grunted, scowling as he slipped the cigar to his lips to take another puff of it.

"Five squads I've sent out, five damned squads of these useless lasgun wielding fresh hat PDF forces...!"

He scoffs, shaking his head as he tapped his finger onto the data-slate, addressing a few of the blaring runes on the screen as he slipped to read the daily from 'the Governor' himself only to be left shaking his head once again as he slipped to the next report. Something caught his eye as the cigar fell from his lips, hitting the cold stone beneath him.

"C..Cadet..! Get me two patrol squads and one of them lazy ass PDF reservist squads now, lined up outside and fully geared with APC's!"

He furrowed his brow, looking back down to the data-slate. The impending threat outside the wall was bad enough, mutations were hardly uncommon... But the report that sat before him screamed Gene-stealer cult to him. He took no chances.

Warriors of Chaos-Blood Pact

Phargos Hex

Etogaur Tao fell back with his honor guard and assault platoon. With the mergence of the Dark Eldar lord the tables had turned. The Blood Pact could not beat the dark eldar's sublime grace at close combat. Taking casualties with every step and dishing out the same, the men fell back to cover under covering fire of the snipers and other assault platoon. As soon as they hunkered down they reloaded and continued to pour las beams at the advancing dark eldar.

Shouting in the crude battle dialect of the blood pact, Tao says.

"Kai stop that thrice damned thing before it kills us all!"

It grew colder instantly, and the chaos zealots whimpered in fear as the Blood pact resumed chanting. Screaming, the blood was drained from several of the chaos militias, and they were literally turned inside out. Becoming glistening bags of tissue and organs, the blood collected and slithered into the staff of the Gore Mage, Kai. Laughing and letting the powers of the warp infuse him, he sent the blood off into the warp to sate Khorne. With power flowing through him, Kai unleashed a whirlwind of blood at the Archon. Dark Eldar and Blood Pact alike were caught in its path, and their blood was sucked from their bodies and fueled the blood vortex.

In the shock after, the Blood Pact resumed laying down disciplined fire on the dark eldar. The corsairs retaliated in turn, scything down militia and killing Blood pact. Hoping the vortex would kill the Archon, they continued the fight.....

This was not over, the Blood Pact would surely know they just gained an enemy...

A report comes in from the Noble District, Block 'Imperitus' right outside the Governor's Palace that a riot was ensuing, and cultists were battling another cult, one of them clearly from the Genestealer Cult, the other sounded like a cult of Excess, Slaanesh

In the skies above the battleground of Phargos Hex, space began to writhe and distort. With the shriek of a thousand souls, the warriors on the planet below could see the warp spit an infernal shape into the ashen clouds. From within those clouds murky depths could be seen fiery flashes. With an almighty crash, the debris of a Dark Eldar corsair ship could be seen plummeting toward the ground, dark scores in its sides, gaping wounds ripped by some infernal guns - or claws.

As the debris fell, spires of baleful flame arched down upon the world, gaining speed and flaming toward the battle. Some ran for their lives, but others watched, awe struck. With an infernal squelch of impact, the first of the drop pods landed on the front line of the Blood Pact, crushing bodies living and dead. Many others followed, impacting both in Chaos lines and Dark Eldar. With a screech of grinding metal, and a roar of dread fury, the warriors of the Black Legion emerged.

Amongst them stood a dark and powerful warrior, raising his fell chainsword high.

"And Lo', true believers of Chaos - the Dark Gods bring you their champions."

Warlord Arkas Garadon stepped foot onto the foul ground of Phargos Hex. The Black Crusade had arrived.

Captain Daniel made his way down the corridors of the substation while guardsmen dragged the corpses of the heretics, unceremoniously tossing them into piles to be burned at a later date. Entering into the command and control centre of Substation Furon he made his way to the centre of the room where the Death Korps of Krieg Field Marshal was looking over casualty lists and speaking over Vox with High Command. Daniel saluted as he was handed a data slate with the casulaty lists. His eyes ran down the list of Harakoni casualties, 33 wounded in the entire company and 5 dead from Echo squad. This would put Echo out of action for some time until he received reinforcements from another Regiment. Most of the wounded could be treated here in Substation Furon but others would have to be sent back to some of the ships for medical treatment.

All in all it was a successful assault, if it weren't for the timely intervention of the Death Korp of Krieg they would have probably sustained more casualties than necessary. Daniel handed the data slate to a nearby guardsmen and saluted the Field Marshal.

"Sir i am Captain Daniel Raven of the 77th Harakoni Warhawks Regiment. We have been sent to rekindle contact with this Substation and determine what has happened. Although that much is apparent."

He motioned for his Vox trooper to make his way over and inform High Command of their progress.

Field Marshal Otto looked over the data slate quickly and set it aside "Your men were invaluable here, Captain. I'll be informing High Command of your ability in combat, while also awarding you the rank of Colonel"

A soldier in dress uniform would pin a medal ok the Captain, now Colonel's chest

Otto nodded, pleased "Now then, until proper reinforcements arrive to replenish and rearm your strike force you are to hold here with me and my own. A relief force should arrive in a day or two and I don't expect any traitors to get close. We have five miles of trenches in either direction and artillery gassing and obliterating anything that gets close. Get some rest, Colonel, Emperor protects."

As the sun rises on Crows World, the men of 1st Platoon, Delta Company, 28th Valhallan Armoured Regiment standfast as they are greated with their typical morning report at this pitiful excuse for an outpost.

"Today . . . Is the Day . . . We Stand," the lieutenant repeats with his morning lecture to keep the men ever ready, as if they were not already.

Yet this day may not be the day they make their defense on this not-so-strategic position, as the days before were not.

Infact, they had seen little action their whole time on this world.

Valhallans_Formation.jpg

"Pay attention!" he yells, turning to see what the men were looking at, to be nose-to-nose with his Commanding officer, the Colonel Michael Hunt.

"Be at ease, men. I doubt little will happen today, stay nears your weapons as normal though." he ends, walking off to find the Second platoon commander.

The Shas'o and his troops landed on Larsa. The Shas'o orders for the Shas'ui to take a squad of one pathfinder unit to scout out a perimeter.

The Tau Fire Warriors and the Broadside battle suits set up a perimeter around the the area cleared for the forward base to go. The Shas'o and his shield drones call down for the builder drones to be delivered down.

Gun drones and the pathfinders move through the overgrown forest of Larsa the Tau where looking for Orcs or worse the Tarniads

There is also a requisition order for replacement troops and munitions."

The Watchmaster turned and a Valkyrie Gunship landed, the officer entering it, and the Chimera bring grav-locked to the Gunship and taking off East
