Decree of Highborn Conscription

20th of Malin's Welcome, 1459

In order to ensure that the Exercitus Imperium remains stalwart and well-manned in times of both peace and wartime, the 'Decree of Highborn Conscription' is henceforth issued and codified into the Imperial Legal Code, to be added as an addendum at a later effect and to take effect immediately upon its public dispatch.

It is henceforth decreed that each recognized noble house of gentle birth of the Imperium Tertius is required under law to submit to the membership of the Exercitus Imperium at least one blood relation of their own house so as to further bolster the ranks of the military institution. Candidates may be chosen by the respective authorities amongst each house and are to report to the August Marshal Vibius de Sola within an elven week of the issuing of this decree.

It is repeated henceforth that the failure of any noble house to comply with this decree and submit to the ranks of the Exercitus Imperium one male and able-bodied member is a violation of Imperial law. Let no man claim ignorance as an excuse - house heads who fail to comply will be met with the full force of the court.

Aemondo Aedalfieri stumbles drunkenly into the hall of the Visconti manor. Frederick stands still, glaring intently at him, the notice in hand. He strokes his chin in devious contemplation.

"What?"

He snatches the notice, squinting as he mutters to himself. He drops it, blinking. He looks to Frederick. He looks to the notice. He scratches at his stubble.

And then, as he does so, he begins chuckling hoarsely, his rumbling laughter soon echoing throughout the halls.

He claps his hands, rubbing them together.

"Very well."

He then trots off to sharpen his bastard sword.

Leonitius of Roiye, a bastard member of House Basileus, brings the notice towards both his father Marcellus and cousin Lord Damien, a wide grin on his face.

Lord Damien mutters to himself as he stands, realizing that Marcellus would never choose to fight for the imperial army after the events that had unfolded in the palace. He approaches the map on the wall in his study, crossing his arms.

"Then I suppose it will have to be me."
