Bring The Simple Skills Plugin Back

Think about how it worked. If you hacked there was a chance you could get your weapon broken. I remember PvPing Timayame when he hacked and it was hilarious because he would click so fast that it would just break weapons. It was comical to see and I think I said it wrong but it was very easy to tell if somebody was hacking.

+1 that's classic mate.

I have no idea how it worked, I can't remember, at least in terms of combat and weapon breaking but that's fair enough.

But in this thread I think it is impossible and almost ridiculous to suggest a total scrap of the coming skills plugin. Rather the tech team should note what worked very well in the old plugin and try to implement that.

The PvP system was excellent and I think the quick, tactical combat should return so we don't have this sort of 'sit in a base for three hours underground and wait' type of thing.

Completely agree, I wasn't trying to shrug off the new plugin as a whole. I was trying to convey my ideas so that the new plugin could possibly be improved by addition of some of the old parts and implement them, as you said.

I do hope that the conditions on certain skills for levelling have been done appropriately. I agree that armour should be kinda rare sorta but it was a bit stupid back in Asulon where it would take like 300 diamonds to make a set because the crafting process would destroy the diamonds instead. Rather, the ores themselves should be harder to find and the conditions should be, for example 'At 100 blacksmithing you create 2 iron chests rather than 1' rather than 'You have a 50% chance of failing to craft'.

Yeah, I didn't like his skill plugin at all.

Instead of having 20% chance of crafting something because you're a low level, instead make it uncraftable/half used until you unlock it at a specific level. Then you can craft it normally and will slowly produce better and better quality items.

Oh and I hope there won't be the stupid restrictions on crafting wooden sticks and boats. That was just a huge pain.

I loved the way gold was used at some point. And the fact that gold was very rare at a time. This needs to come back, so we can have Diamond armor back aswell. The fact that each Armor had a Pro & Con, made battle more interesting, and it also made RP much better than what it is today. +1

DK Out!

PS, please give axes and swords the same base damage, because some races such as Orcs RPly prefer axes (and look much cooler with them tbh) over swords, I don't think everyone should have to wield a sword just because it's the only viable combat method.

Diamond sword = Diamond Axe

Iron sword = Iron Axe

etc.

Yeah I agree with that. As before axes would break armour quicker I believe it was, and swords.. can't really remember.. but anyway they should have the same base but maybe have different abilities?

I liked how axes had higher crit when at 100 axe mastery but swords had an enhanced block ability which was actually useful. It made variety a good thing.

If you remember that simple but beautiful plugin back in Asulon, you'll remember how fun it used to be. Levelling up your skills and fighting others with those gold axes, prices for gold rose, and it had a purpose; now it's useless. Hopefully everyone will support this idea as it will bring back some aspects that Lord of the Craft has lost, and held so dearly to many players.

+1 for 7-1 plz

You're kidding. That grinding plugin was one of the worst things the server ever had and its removal was met with much joy.

The grinding got ridiculous after like level 30 or so, it'd take a day to level half a level after that point. there should be somewhat of a grind to level up secondary professions but not to that extent.

I support, assuming you want the plugin as it was at first - Not when Vaq made it "You have to have this profession to make bread" or the wonderful "You can't auto-heal without this skill".

It was tried and true. I've personally many doubts and more about the plugin we have coming.

You're kidding. That grinding plugin was one of the worst things the server ever had and its removal was met with much joy.

When you look at the essentials of a server, the most important thing is that you have players online. When you have players online souly for the purpose of grinding, it gets boring and lonesome, until tadah, someone comes a long.

I think this was one of the best things about LotC, and A LOT of people seem to agree. This has been something that players have been asking for for ages. We often talk about Aegis and how it was simple, and effective at being a great map. We often talk about how each race was located close to one another to make it so rp was everywhere.

But what people don't talk about, is the other two big things about aegis, which was the fact that simple plugins made playing on LotC more fun than original minecraft, this was met by making it so trees dropped sticks, and leaves dropped apples commonly. Also by making sheep drop meat, making almost every animal drop bones made killing animals slightly more fun and rewarding. The skills plugin got players to stay online, and then players who decided to focus on one level path would RP that path out. People as blacksmiths were encouraged to learn how to properly blacksmith to appropriate their skill level to their RP. Fishing was a viable job back then, interesting professions arose from the plugin and encouraged different, and better rp. All while keeping players online.

The other thing to note, was that the players often united against a great evil, and had simple, but grand and fun battles against the undead. Once a month you would see some 200 players gather to defeat this evil, and it was very fun, not once was an undead attack boring. Soon after Aegis players also begged for this to return, and since then the players have yet to unite as we once did in Aegis.

Bringing back at least ONE of these great aspects back to LotC is what they should be doing. From what I hear the crafting system in 4.0 is literally about "Crafting", but I don't know if it will satisfy our desire for a "leveling" or proper progression in each tree while giving some kind of encouragement to try out different professions. Alchemy wasn't quite implemented, things like the motor, mining, tinkering don't seem to have progression, and that's what players want. Progression WITHOUT huge restrictions.

I liked the skills plugin back in the day, but hated the crafting restrictions.

+1, but keep the crafting restrictions out.
