"if 4.0 Fails, Lotc Will Die."

It's impossible to kill a minecraft server until it runs out of funds or is shut down.

I say this because a reddit PvP server I played on in 2010 still clocked 10 players at peak hours after all the staff quit. (For scale at the apex of the server's popularity and on peak hours there were 30 online.)

Cyndikate maybe your definition of dying is different to mine, but to me if something dies it's dead. Lord of the Craft hasn't died yet, sure it has slowed down but to pin that on the fault of a map is stupid, and just using it as a scapegoat. If you truly believe that role play has staled because of a map, then perhaps you should consider how forum role players do it with only their imagination and the way they use their words to use the world around them.

Try comparing to Aegis? Stop comparing things to the past, jesus christ... People cannot see past the nostalgia of the past, to see the clearly. 90% of people who say "Today's role play has declined in quality" also say "It was better in Aegis". No, back then, less people knew how to role play from all the videos and people's accounts  compared to today. Stop the stupidity of being nostalgic over the first /anything/, it will only distort your views and opinions.

"Role play was on the central road." Oh really? What was stopping you from creating a central road? What was or is stopping you from making a role play hub of sorts? Nothing. Absolutely nothing is stopping you. Oh, people may stop you through role play reasons? Oh no! How dare they role play their way, and not let me have my own fun in my own world where I believe that no one should touch my personal space!

Stop being selfish. Stop it. Stop right now.

4.0 won't fail because there weren't many risks taken. It will be like the previous maps, and I don't have a problem with that. 4.0 is a big change for the server, and some people assume that means others will change their perspective, and maybe be nicer. In reality, nobody becomes nicer, or changes much other than what they already would have with natural progression. Or if they do change it is only temporary, then they go back to either taking RP as RP, or taking RP as OOC. So 4.0 will neither "kill" LOTC nor "Save" it.

Also, 1+ to your post above me, people with nostalgia glasses need to be told that.

I think you are forgetting that as time passes people experience things. After a year of being on the server you can be just re-experiencing the same things over and over because the other races are boring as f*ck. This is why 4.0's map is important because it can offer new things, new dungeons, new landscape areas to build settlements on, and so on. It can also provide a whole new range of lore but only if the map is good. Oh yah, there is also the fact that it is annoying as f*ck to travel for 5 minutes or more just to reach your racial capital.

Its boredom and the players that will kill player time.

1. Ive.personally have done everything there is to do on the server. I just dont see much reason to play anymore and thats my choice. I dont blame anyone for it and theres not much anyone else can do about it.

2. You cant do whatever you want anymore. You cant create a central road due to regions. Cant do it cause we all have the mind set of "if its not my idea its stupid".

3. Roleplay hubs are destroyed by PvP orientation groups who are literally out to ruin other peoples day. Yall know who they are and it bugs me to high heaven we can't defend these small Roleplay havens of players.

4. PvP focused gameplay. Yes mc has PvP aspect but this is a rp server. We should rp first. A fault of the dwarves is they cant stay online if there is not a battle going on. They get their new players im the cycle and no one learns to just do casual rp.

Maybe its just me but the players arnt what they were years back. Its all changed and the staff as well. Things change and vets like myself or other have to change with it. Or in my case not cause I dont want to be apart of whatever lotc is becoming.

Lotc isn't dying anytime soon. Even if 4.0 is a flop people will still rp and more people will still come.

I think that when people say that "If 4.0 fails, LoTC will die" really means that if the whole thing ends up being an awful mess like Anthos was (early on anyway) then they are just going to call it quits and LoTC will die for those people. Personally I think that if 4.0 doesn't do it for me like Asulon then I'm just gonna head out. I think that's how a lot of players feel when they say that.
