I just figured out a way to have Simple player made artwork in-game using color codes in minecraft books! Here is one I did to test it out!

I hope that this opens up a wide variety of options, like painters, drawers, and basically artists in-game!

Definitely cool for personal purposes, but the bad thing about vanilla MC books is they don't have a set number of characters per line like in signs and they instead base themselves on font size. Thus, if one resource pack has small text and another has large, the image will be completely distorted when made for one and viewed on the other. Nonetheless, this will still be fun to mess around with for the most part. Good find :)

You're a tad late, though I'd love to see more people doing this ;3

Really good idea. If you dont mind I'm going to use it for my 5years old Halfling char. Basicly because my drawings will look like if they were really made by one.... xD

And concerning to that thing of the texture pack issue, everyone should write the name of their texture pack at the bottom of the page :)
