The Last Hope

He could see nothing but ancient runic appearing in his mind, “Help me. Save me,” the runes symbolized. More and more pleas of help appeared until everything went blank. Beranabus, a tall High Elf, woke with a start. Sweat trickled down the back of his neck, gasping as he murmured,

“I will, Dark One. I will save you.”

Beranabus sat in his study, dusting off old tomes, leather bound journals, and various lore of Athera. Sifting through the vast knowledge of the texts, he sighed as he looked at the clutter that had risen from the slew of tomes around the room. Various candles, melted down on metal trays, dotted that room and streaks of the blue light shined out the window into the night. Roars of annoyance, shouts blaring curses, and slews of profanity echo out in a rage as he failed to find any useful information,

“Gah! Bloody nips!”

With a grunt, he scrunched one of the opened scrolls on his desk and before he was about to throw it, he noticed something. Recorded on it was a sequence of runic symbols he had written prior of a stone. After a few moments of looking over, he smirked,

“This may be it..”

With another nod, he tapped his long, white quill into the jar of ink off to his side and began to log down a few extra notes of this crystal.

Name: Beranabus Seregon

Material: Aether Shard

Weight: Moderate

Texture: Extremely hard, transparent, inner glow, purple pulses

Rarity: Extremely Rare

Location: It can be found in various locations in this realm. One can tell once they have found it upon holding the material close to you. You could feel the energy pulsing through your body like a heart with blood.

With a good night of work and a few hours of sleep, he wakes up in the morning and prepares himself outside once more with the scroll bound by a small, thin leather strap, set along his belt. He departs from his home to return at the Dark One’s request. Dropping the scroll inside the collection chest inside of the Dark One’s study, Beranabus reads over a few of the other submissions.  Taking fliers from the posted board nearby the underground laboratory, he turns on his heels, going to spread the fliers about to all that could be found.

“More people deserve to know of this fellow’s complication.”

The Flier

A Request for those who will Listen

My homeworld, very similar to yours, is under destruction. My eyes have witnessed too much demise of my own kind. As a last resort, I have chosen to deliver myself to your world to find the solution. My people suffer from a lack of defense as the Ravagers prey upon us. They are not welcome here, just as if I would not be welcome in this realm. To those who may consider aiding me, I would have a reward for you. I do not require your assistance in battle, for that would be futile. I require your eyes and mind to be mine. Write to me of a special material in this domain of Athera that you believe could aid me against the Ravagers. Bring your writing to my study if you truly wish to aid me. My study is hidden within the Dark Woods, near Estermeadow or Transcendence Keep. I need you now more than ever. You all are my last hope.

[!] A depiction of the destruction is drawn at the bottom of the flier. [!]

Expect to see myself regularly for I am now revealing myself to you all. I hope to be met with respect and acceptance, unlike some violence I was shown before.

The underground study resonated with a sensation of silence as the Dark One gazed upon Beranabus as he departed up the lift, back into the realm of Athera. Milling through the selection of books at his disposal once more, he searched not for a specific title, but a tome that would suit his needs to save his domain. The Dark One shook his head slowly as he paged through yet another text of no use. A feeling of regret loomed over him as the responsibility of saving his homeworld shifted from himself to the various people of Athera. He could only hope now that he had found the right populace to confide his trust into. He laid his eyes upon the destruction that graced the land so close to him, yet worlds away. His purple, foreign eyes drifted as words caught his glance,

“In every end, there is also a beginning.”

He shut the volume quickly, tossing it into the ashes of his ambition.

So, if you’d like to read up on it, take a peek! This post is a formal invitation for all players to take part in this questline. I hope to see you all participate! Any submissions regarding materials your character would like to tell the Dark One of must be real lore-approved materials (life gold, thanium).

The Grandmaster Cleric Mandru folds his hands behind his back, having just read the flier.

It had been many years since he had battled the Allfather Reinheardt beneath the Island Republic of Gallmore. All his life, he had devoted himself to combatting the dark lord, the beings whom had ruined him and his House...

And he sensed a disturbance. A terrible disturbance.

The old man sighed. He dispatches a courier to seek out the Dark One immediately.

He would deliver a message to the Interdimentional being, when found, quivering at the sight of it.

The message would go as follows:

"To this Dark One, pleading for help:

I am Mandru Kaecillius VonSchlichten, 'The War Doctor'. I know that you have heard my name before... I know that your people fear me, that your 'Allfather' himself fears me.

I would as soon see you all rot in your demention, every last one of you being destroyed and ravaged. Yet I sense there is a differentse in your people... Something has changed over 40 years.

I wish to meet with you face to face. Immediately."

The courier would continue trembling, waiting for a response from the being.

((I was a close consultant and participant of RHcrow's old storyline dungeons, and know much of his old lore. I can help you if need be with these events, Tantaparo. :P Please contact andrewtech101 over skype if interested, or send me a forum message, and I'll tell you everything I know that isn't included in the original lore posting.

Other than that, I am SO GLAD to see that the ET is succeeding where I failed in reviving this lore. THANK. YOU. :D))

Guarger Tsouderous catches one of the fliers in the wind reading over it

He raises a brow before saying to himself  "How sad.....I will help as best I can".

He smiles softly running back home and gathering some notes on random objects.

He quickly walks through the forest till he finds the Dark One's study placing the notes into the collection chest smiling happily and walking off.

"Upon entering the desolate residence within the Dark Woods, Granantar sifts through the various texts that scatter the base floor. In an attempt to decipher the identity of the resident."

"Without avail, he lays his back and tilts his head towards the ceiling postulating the possibilities. Again, without avail."

"Restless mind and scattered thoughts, he makes his way to the exit, hoping to return the following night."

The courier would continue trembling, waiting for a response from the being.

The Dark One's slender body turns to face the courier. Its eyes glow a deep purple as he speaks, staring down the man until he falls to the ground out of fear. It steps over the courier's body, handing him a note.

"You can find me here, Mandru. I have heard much of you, indeed."

The courier rushes off, starting the lift back up into the light in a rush. Elegantly, the Dark One returns to the portal, watching his world burn.
