Status:

Castellan: Augustus Fournier (stigwig)

Lord Steward: Vacant

Lord Bailiff: Adolf Ruhr von Manstein (thesmellypocket)

Introduction:

So folks, this is the first weekly report for Leuvaarden, influenced by the Vekaro ones. If you have queries or questions regarding anything mentioned here or other matters that pertain to the city, do not hesitate to contact any of the above or the Count himself, Guy de Bar (Altiak).

New Stewards:

With a recent increase in town activity we’ve taken on board a number of new stewards and reworked their responsibilities and powers so as to have an active and healthy economic situation within the town. These will be helping to administer taxation efforts along with supporting industry within the city. We are still also looking for a Lord Steward, and as such those who wish to apply for such a role or join the stewards should make themselves known to city officials.

Taxation:

We’ve finally gotten ‘round to implementing taxation! A major thing worth mentioning is that if a citizen does not pay their taxes for more than two weeks, they can be evicted. Furthermore, any Order-Men of Saint Amyas pay only half tax on their properties.

Taxation for Farmers:

Farmers pay taxes in the form of hay and wheat gathered from the city’s farms. In exchange for being able to use the land they are required to give two tenths of their harvest to the city, and a tenth to the church. They may keep all remaining resources gathered. The weekly harvest is expected to be 100 barrels of wheat or 100 haybales. The tax shall be determined from this amount. During times of conflict, a  war tenth will usually be collected. Furthermore, during the times of a crusade, a holy tenth is also collected.

Tavern for Sale:

The main tavern in town has been recently vacated and we are searching for a new owner to take it over and help revive the roleplay surrounding it. If anyone is interested in indeed purchasing the tavern, they can either post here or message a town council member to purchase it.

Military Success:

Just yesterday conflict broke out once more between the city’s garrisoning force, the Order of Saint Amyas, and the dwarves that reside at East Point. A siege of their fort eventuated, only to result in a victory when the dwarves conceded some casualties and then retreated to the depths of their fort. With more battles surely to come, and victory on the horizon, the Order is always welcoming new recruits that wish to gain glory and loot upon the field of battle.

Law Codex in the works:

We’ve recently begun work on a book of laws pertaining to the city itself and hope to publish it soon. A big congratulations to the Lord Bailiff for helping to draft the opening ideas and we expect all citizens to abide by the rules presented there once it has been released.

A Challenge:

Tomorrow the city shall be holding a competition for the title “Champion of Leuvaarden”, which rewards a citizen for his martial prowess. Along with fame and glory, a sword wreathed in flame is awarded to the victor. Any civilian who wishes to compete should report to the training field in a saint day’s time.

Property Available:

New property is now available within the city, ranging from simple market stalls where merchants can display their wares to townhouses fit for families. Each house is available for the simple price of 250 minas - and stalls for far less. Those interested in purchase should once again contact a member of the council.

Avenese Bank:

The Avenese Bank, an establishment created for the giving of loans to those who need it with little interest, has recently setup in Leuvaarden with a new building. Any who are in need of some more minas may contact them for an easy and practical loan.

A smithy has recently begun commercial work in town under the guidance of Alexandre Cossette (sean_desed). Those that wish to obtain fine quality arms and armour would do well to contact him and purchase them. Order-Men who need outfitting can be supplied by him for a lower cost.

Edgar reads over this notice, and hopes that Adolf is not consolidating his power for a future attempt to take over Leuvaarden and turn it into a dictatorship when Guy de Bar dies of old age by making the Amyas Order swear him an oath of loyalty.

Hopes that he can do this and combine the offices of Count and Lord Bailiff in order to become Fuehrer, rearm, and invade the rest of Neville Chamberlain de Savoie's vassals while he tries to appease him. He wishes to promote the superiority of the Heartlander race and put Dark Elves in concentration camps.
