Nightfall - A Modern Nation’s FRP
 
State of the FRP
Several new nations ​were formed, the American states have been united once more under the American Empire (played by Dirtryhairy) and the Empire has pushed as far south as Brazil. The Islamic Caliphate, which began simply as the joint states of Syria and Iraq, has swelled to own nearly all of the Middle East and North Africa on the march to conquer Africa and eventually push into Europe. However, the Caliphate is matched in both size and strength by their European rivals, the Greater Imperium of Europa. The Greater Imperium of Europa is made up of the Imperium of Britannia, which owns all of Iberia and the British Isles, and the German Empire which owns nearly all of Central Europe and France.

In the east, the Far Eastern Empire reigns supreme. The Empire of Japan, the Chinese Empire, and the Republic of India have merged into a single super state with far reaching influence and industrial capabilities. The Russians, or what is left of them after the nuclear disaster of 2054, have been forced East and are based out of the city of Stalingrad while the Germans have set up a pair of puppet states in the west.

Nearly all nations have large, widespread possessions in Space. Just like the pioneers who moved in the Americas, the various Empires sponsor widespread expeditions into the solar system which is slowly become their domain.

Little Backstory: A political group with power in local and federal levels, with a secretive terrorist group to back them up. Their official party is the Confederacy and their flag that of what it was during the civil war. Not denying or preaching of slaves, they instead focus on state rights. Congressional gridlock and federal inaction have made some states weary. Taxes raises but yet infrastructure and asocial order crumbles, and the Confederacy wants change.

 

Called the Fire Brands, the terrorist group dedicated to the Confederacy is hard line. Instead of unsubtle assaults on Federal land, they try to turn public opinion against them through events. Manipulating politics, and events, they further the cause. With limited resources so far they have to get creative, and find ways to beat a vastly more armed foe.

Portugal never really pulled himself out of the crisis. The country grew more and more corrupt, taxes getting higher and wages lower, unrest grew as well as the gap between the rich and poor. In the south (Alentejo as Portuguese call the region) it was unberably hot, almost no crops grew. There were riots in every major city, until a earthquake hit, a earthquake the same magnitude of the 1755 earthquake. Lisbon and many other costal cities and towns were almost obliturated, only one region of the capital was unharmed, the region where the old Cathedral the patriarchal seat of lisbon. The people fled to there and a new wave of religion hit Portugal very much alike the supposed miracles of Fatima in the 20th century.People flooked under the banner of the church, and people made the Patriarch D. João Carvalho their new leader. Even though he wasn't the best economist with the help of a old Politician they attempted to fix the problems that the old government made. Altough the south as almost arid the banks of the Tejo river were more fertile then ever. The river filled up by massive floods in Spain. They farmed that land and made an agricultural and religious society. Although the Patriarch wanted to help the people of the south, with the crop money made the state started developing the water systems of the south making the land now farmable and the south even tough is still hot they have new water sources, Altough not all is okay, many non religious (especially in the north) want a republic now thet the Patriarch died the New Patriarch appointed by the Pope will have to deal with extra unrest.
