meg 1994 Share Posted April 10, 2015 The forest seemed to go on forever. As she stumbled along the worn path, the forest spun around her, and the snow-coated branches of the trees reached down as if to grab her. She picked up her pace, pushing away at the spirits reaching for her, seeking revenge. Her hair was matted, and unkempt, and her clothes were rags. The snow stuck to her bare feet, and as she tried to stabilize herself, a root sprung up from the ground, wrapping around her ankle and tripping her. She turned over, curling up, as the spirits surrounded her. They screamed, and begged, but all she could do was cower. Then, a light broke through the mist, a figure, holding a torch, bent over to look at her. Its mouth opened as if to speak words, stretching its hand out to her. Everything went dark as her hand shot up, clamping around its wrist. ~~~~ She opened her eyes slowly, as rays of sun cut through the snowy canopy. Her movement was sluggish, but she pushed herself up, resting against a tree. As she brought her hand up to brush her hair out of her face, she paused. Her flesh was stained an old, reddish color. Bits of meat were caught in her fingernails, and she let out a sigh. She turned, staring down at the mutilated carcass of a man. He was almost unidentifiable, one eye was ripped out of its socket, and the other hung loosely by a thin sinew. His skin peeled off his face in long strands, as if he was mauled by some creature. She turned away from him, wrapping her arms around her shoulders, hugging herself tightly. As she became more aware, she looked up to survey her surroundings. A snowy, empty forest stretched on for what seemed like miles, and she seemed to be the only living thing in sight. “If ye even count as living.” She turned, suddenly, as the mouth of the carcass moved up and down, mocking her. She narrowed her eyes, letting out a deep snarl, tearing at it with her hands. When the head was nothing more than a wet mound of flesh, the forest went silent again. She wrapped the body’s long, brown cloak around herself, mumbling, “Get it together…” She stood up, wobbly, leaning against the tree. She turned to leave, taking slow steps as her form shifted, like static for a moment. Her stained skin becoming clean and taking on a soft, a peach-y color. The glow from her eyes dimmed, becoming a muted green. Her auburn-brown hair fell down her shoulders neatly, and she traveled through the forest in complete silence. ~~~ The leaves of Cerulin rustled softly as the breeze cut through them, and a lone female sat upon the center fountain, silently. She stared down at the ground, almost in another world. Her eyes were glazed over, and she paid almost no attention to those passing her by. She snapped awake, for a moment, as a young elvish girl passed by, her eyes a bloodshot red and face stained with tears. The female on the fountain bit at her lip, flexing her fingers. She felt a pull, an invisible hand was tugging at her, commanding her. She stood up, wobbly, and rushed out the city, as the spirits watched silently from the canopy. ((Hello! I just wanted to do another official post announcing the return of my Witch Mother, Lumia, and that I am open/looking for anyone who is interested in having their character cursed. Please be sure you are familiar with the lore(Link Here) before contacting me, it’s in the racial section. This group will be separate from Birdwhisperer’s coven, but unless we get too big we’ll most likely be rooming in the same cave. I’ve been thinking about the development of Lumia and her psyche for a while, and this short write-up I did goes into the sort of hallucinatory state she finds herself in when she is extremely hungry. It also slightly adresses how killing/eating people has haunted her/affects her, and how being a Witch Mother puts pressure on the Witch to find other girls to curse. That’s about all I have to say, shoot me a pm if you’re interested, otherwise thanks for reading!))
