Founding

The First Regiment of Adria, known colloquially as the “1st”, was founded by the Duke Franz Vladov during the era of fragmentation as a subsidiary of the Canonist League. The First Regiment quickly acquired fame for the well-armed and well-trained Vladov Vanguard’s brutal conquests at the frontline of the League’s military, and when Vydra called for a strong and unified Oren, the 1st answered.

The 1st is composed of the levies of the Houses Dystov, Stafyr, Roost, de Montfort, Vladov, and Horen. While once a loosely assembled hodge-podge of levies, the 1st is now a well-oiled machine, with organization rivaling that of the 2nd (Order of the Sons of Vydra), and the 3rd (Order of St. Amyas).

The First Regiment is founded upon the ideals of Ruska, of humble service, virtuous diligence, and cultural integrity. The commanders of the First are highly skilled and experienced in both combat and in specialized command. With decades of experience and tradition stemming from service in schismatic and foreign wars in defense of the Faith and of humanity, the veterans of the 1st shine as exemplars of Orenian values of service, strength, piety, loyalty, bravery, and tradition.

Armed to the teeth with the best of Aengulic carbarum and Adrian steel, groomed for warfare in the harsh Adriatic mountains, and touting impressive accomplishments on the field in defense of the home and abroad, the men of the First represent the best soldiery Oren can provide. Always at the frontlines, the First are the teeth and claws of the mighty Orenian beast.

Command Structure

The First Regiment’s command is a core of highly experienced officers, a group with more effective military experience than any other. The ranks below are advanced through by demonstration of dedication and aptitude. The high officers are exceptionally talented and experienced, but with the training environment of the First Regiment, you can one day name yourself amongst their ranks.

Officers

Commander: At the head of the First Regiment is the Commander. Both in the tactician’s tent and on the field, the Commander has proven his expertise in combat. A master strategist, resource allocator, and soldier, the Commander can be trusted to always steer the First to success. The Commander of the First is Franz Vladov ((fireheart519))

Captain: A strong and capable officer corps makes or breaks an army, and the Captains of the First are the best out there. With decades of experience leading troops through the thick and thin of battle and drilling them in peacetime, the Captains are responsible for the Regiment's effective operation. Entitled to full runic carbarum and in charge of a full division or specialty, Captains of the First represent the best of Oren. The Divisional Captains of the First are: Kazimir Vladov, Constantine Dystov, and Leopold of Adria. The Drillmaster Captain is Treu White.

Ensign: A lower corps officer, an Ensign represents an Enlisted man's transition into Regimental leadership. Ensigns execute commands at the head of smaller regional battalions. Entitled to the same benefits as a Veteran, as well as the added authority of officer status, an Ensign is well on his way towards Captain advancement.

Enlisted Men:

Veteran: After three Saint's Months of active service, or combat in five skirmishes or raids and two major battles, a Man-At-Arms is tenured as a veteran. Entitled to the top notch armaments courtesy of the Aengulic smiths, enchanters, and leatherworkers of Adria, the Veterans are a sight to behold on the field, fighting alongside their fellow Men-At-Arms against heathen and traitor a like.

Man-At-Arms: The Men-At-Arms are full-fledged soldiers of the Regiment in sworn service of their liege. Armed in full runic ferrum and bedecked in the blue, black, and gold standards of the Duchy, the Men-At-Arms are ready for action.

Recruit: The recruits are the fresh faces of the regiment. After completing their initial training sessions and an oath of loyalty, they receive their uniform, lodgings if necessary, and their gear.

Specialists:

Vanguard: Of equivalent prestige to a Veteran, members of the Vladov Vanguard are the best of the best, heavily trained and battle tested, leading the Orenian host to battle in every one of the modern wars. The Vanguard is highly selective, favoring appointment to their ranks only those who have been raised in the Woldzmir compound. The members of the Vanguard form Woldzmir's divisional military, with a presiding Captain and Ensign attaché.

Equites: Of equivalent prestige to a Veteran, the select cavalry divisions of the Stafyr host are composed of Equites, highly effective mounted troop carrying cavalry sword and lance. Experienced riders and soldiers, the Equites are regularly trained and drilled as a shock squadron to make the most efficient use of their swiftness. The members of the Equites are the elite of Werdenberg's divisional military, and compose a component part to a larger divisional host.

Drillmaster: A Captain by rank, the Drillmaster is differentiated by his hard-driving training methods and stone-set ethic. The drillmaster conducts training sessions for Recruits and the Regiment to ensure that all soldiers work together like a well-oiled machine. The First Regiment’s Drillmaster is Captain Treu White ((jontillmon)).

Quartermaster: A Captain by rank, the Quartermaster is a logistics specialist responsible for maintaining the armory and storehouses of the Regiment, as well as sourcing armaments for promotions and in times of war, and directing the supply train and setting camp into hostile territories.

Arathorn Geyer wonders why he and his fellow Stafyrmen is commanded by some foreigner Captain who never showed himself to his own soldiers. Not even seen on the town or wilderness or at the times of battle. Also, he thinks that Captain of Southern Division should be selected from someone who commanded Stafyrmen and other Southern Adrian men at the times of war.

August de Montfort thinks that the Count Stafyr requested the Vladov Vanguard officer to bring his drilling and field expertise to the Division's military, and Ensigns will be selected from amongst Southern Adria's division to train to be his eventual second in command or replacement.
