The Scarlet Lotus, one afternoon...

He's still sitting at his table. Writing things down on his papers with his pencil, scratching his head occasionally. He hasn't said a word to anyone. His eyes haven't left the table. You ask the barmaid about him. She doesn't say much apart from that he is very polite. Goggles sit on top of his head and a scarf covers his lower face and neck. You notice three colourful vials of liquid resting in some straps on his leg. He must be an alchemist studying away at the tavern!

A few hours pass and you notice that the silent alchemist has gone but what's that? He has seemed to have left a few pieces of paper. You walk over and pick them up to inspect them. They look like they've been ripped out of an ancient book of some kind. There's words written in ink and words written in pencil.

Shall I try to find this man?

I wonder what these papers are about!

Has anyone else came across this man?

To start this RP story line please message TouchMyRichard in game or me on the forum. You will be sent the paper that you picked up as an image.

Rules:

  • Your character must have access to The Scarlet Lotus tavern.
  • Only figure out puzzles which your character can.
  • You may share papers you find with others at the tavern.

If this breaks any rules please let me know. I hope people enjoy this sort of thing.

Aep picks up the piece of paper and turns it over, frowning. Growing gradually more disgruntled, he reorients the paper several times, rotating it every which-way. After about five minutes, he remembers that he doesn't know how to read and scratches his head. He looks around to make sure nobody has seen this awkward incident transpire, and heads home with a dejected demeanor.

Heshakomeu glances at the open gate from his seat at the bar. After watching the road outside the entrance for a few minutes, he decides this alchemist is not coming back. He sets his bottle of wine on the bar, then slides out of his seat and begins to slowly and inconspicuously make his way over to the table. Notes left by an obviously experienced alchemist would certainly help in his pursuit of the art.

When he reaches the table, he turns to take in the papers, moving some of them aside to see them all. He does not take any; instead, he mutters the contents under his breath. He stares at the content of the papers for five or so minutes before blinking, then returning to the bar. He pulls out a small leatherbound journal, a bronze inkwell, and a dirty quill. After wetting his quill in the ink, he opens the journal to a free page and begins to write.
