The Warhawkes Deliver

Night had fallen, the tavern’s gates had been closed and Eraynion stands fiercely above the limp body of an outlander mali’ker. Feral for all he cared. The silver moonlight brushes against his face and mohawk, casting a shadow on the body of the girl at his feet.

Ereinion stands close by, a ceremonial lapis axe in hand. “You’ve done enough, brother,” Rei says, placing a light hand on his twin brother’s shoulder. “Tahiti, Sevilo, bring the body. We must prepare a proper send off for the girl. She was kin.”

Rei watched as she was carried away, a strange sadness in his heart for the outlander mali’ker. He shakes his head disapprovingly and says to himself, “It didn’t need to be this way.”

He was correct, the killing of the girl was completely unnecessary, yet she was so lost. She’d forgotten the proper mali’ker way. Despite her choice of lifestyle, she’d soon be given a proper Warhawke burial, even if she wasn’t part of the tribe.

Dak’ir’s presence had been requested so he could bear witness to Warhawke customs. Within the cherry tree forests, the body was wrapped in a linen, adorned with lapis stones, and burned. The head would be burned separately and wrapped in a thicker canvas.

“van’ayla ito igne’acaela,” the Warhawkes say silently amongst themselves.

Demagol, having known this woman, hears word of this, and he slowly, rises from his seat "Un problem afteh anotheh." He walks to slide on a set of armor, picking up a sword, sliding it into it's sheathe. Then he walks out of his home, humming a low, dark tune as he goes.

Thea consoles herself in Ray's arms as the funeral pyre is lit and they mutter a final "van'ayla" to the fallen Mali.

With tears rolling down Tahiti's face while looking at the lifeless body, he knows that what had happened was never wanted. But he knows that if a  mali'ker disobeys the proper way of living, something had to be done.Looks up to Rei while talking as best as he can trying to hide his saddened voice "It's okay Rei.. She is in a better place now and will be watching over us." Looks up to the moon and taking a big breath trying to stop the tears and tapping on Rei's shoulders trying to cheer him up as the body is burned while quietly saying “van’ayla ito igne’acaela,”

Dak'ir nods his head solemnly as the ceremony ends, looking around the each of the Warhawkes with a ponderous look on his face. They'd disposed of someone who had been lost, too far gone for saving and had walked the path of the barbarian. But yet, in death, they treated her with the same care as they would with any other mali'ker, they treated her like kin. Going to far as to even specifically use their tribe's own burial ceremony. Dak'ir clears his throat as he approaches Ereinion and Rei.

"I would name you both, Masters of the Hunt. Your tribe works together in perfectly and you execute orders to the letter. Here today you've demonstrated your willingness to do the dreadful deeds that Archons take upon themselves and when needed, kill their kin. It is a truly horrible thing, but sometimes necessary. Should you accept this responsibility you'll form a sub-sect of the Archons who not only protect Ker'nor but more specifically hunt for criminals or feral dark elves. One who would betray their kin by divulging in dark magics or siding with those who seek to harm our people."

Dak'ir extends a hand to them, his face rather impassive. Whether or not they accepted was beside the point. He was simply proud to count this tribe among his people and their choice would be acceptable either way, they knew the path of honor.

Ereinion looks at his brother Eraynion, they each take the hand of Dak'ir. They accept his proposal with the utmost of gratitude.
