Luther Sullas ascends the stand in the Haelun'or Courtroom.

 

"Mali'aheral, when I last came to speak in front of you, it was for a joyous occasion - our freedom. This time I have a simple statement to make. I hereby resign from the position of Tilruir'lliran. I find that ever since I have achieved one of the greatest feats in diplomatic history, I no longer have any new ideas to put forth for the progression of our society. Instead, I will now focus on science and the arcane in solitude. Make no mistake, when inspiration strikes once more, I will return to the Silver Council. Until then, Van'ayla and maehr'sae hiylun'ehya. I nominate Taeleh Elibar'acal for Tilruir'lliran."

 

Luther walks out of the courtroom, a mysterious look of disgust upon his face.

Kypris watches as he gives the speech, then walks off. She finds it hard to take her eyes off of him due to his look of disgust. She then turns on her heel to exit.

Kelthran shrugged his shoulders gently from the audience. "Thank you for putting forth the motion of my pardon. If you require a tutor on Arcane Theory, let me know." he said, clapping his hands gingerly and standing. "If that's all then I nominate myself." he then turned, idly walking out with several soft clacks of feet upon stone in the otherwise silent room.

"While I had so intended to ignore this curious nomination by the Blessed but parted Tilruir'lliran, I can not simply stand idly by and permit the so called and so known 'Golden King' to take power. Such would be undesirable. Such would be unacceptable. And so run I shall."

Kelthran turned right back, as if on cue, smiling widely at Taeleh. "I do hope that if you're elected you intend to cancel the Fi'ceru project and spend your time helping to govern the city, as opposed to some foreign camp in the middle of the bay."

Taeleh glances back to Kelthran, deadpan "My efforts bring life. Perhaps the more appropriate question is if you will cancel your project of couping Haelun'or and installing your filthy little Golden system".

 

With this statement, Taeleh would drop a nugget of Gold from his coat upon the ground before Kelthran's feet "Take this, dear elf... It is my contribution to your crown. I would not want you dressed in any metal you find inferior, like Silver".

Kelthran's brows raise as Taeleh blinks across the room to drop a nugget at his feet, idly leaning down and picking it up. "I wish I was the villain you think I am. I'd surely be far more powerful, dastardly, and well liked." he said, shrugging. "I know you're attached to your little project, but Haelun'or is surely more important." he tucked the nugget into his pocket. "If by life, you mean the life of Dark Artists and Clergymen... we've all seen the missive. I had no idea you were a godly man. The fact that you so dexterously danced around my motion... like a bull without legs tossed into a glass shop... speaks wonders as to how decisive, effective and informing you'll be to the other nations once you become Tilurir'lliran."

Taeleh twitches "Though I may summon those who might purge the darkness from my neither fair nor tropical isle, it is at least not I who tolerates their presence. It is at least I who ensures that purity is upheld and my lands are not infected with frost-beasts, as the Citadel so plainly is".

 

He then gestures to Kelthran's pocket "I am, however, glad you have accepted my contribution. As for dodging your query— it is no evasion. So read the Law, it shall provide all answers which you so seek. I am an elf of our law, dear Kelthran. I do not kill, unlike some present".

"I keep getting accused of being a killer, though I don't think I've ever killed an Elf. Do you have evidence to substantiate my murder?" he said, tapping his chin. "Unless I've forgotten, or was in some sort of trance, which I highly doubt... it seems as if you're just throwing about wild slander. Funnily enough I have a copy of the laws right here, for my reference when individuals teleport to me with the intent to throw gold and accuse me of things I haven't done." he withdrew a small roll of paper from his pocket, extending it. "Do point out where it answers my motion about bay-faring maritime governors being allowed to stay in their island Dark Arts paradise while the rest of the council governs."

Taeleh would plainly pull a scroll from his coat, extending it to Kelthran "This would be the council-passed laws and regulations of Fi'ceru. Read it if you will, or continue to live in ignorance. As for your attempted coup, such has been verified by the Court of Oren and by the curious mage who did observe your attempt— to deny it is a curious matter. For it can be proven without absurd difficulty. Would you, perhaps, like me to procure all the evidence? I could if you so wish."

 

Taeleh scowls "One would think the elf who was forgiven for trying to ruin Haelun'or would be a little more grateful. How disturbing. It is you who accuses me of failure. Despite the fact I have forged a second home for the mali'aheral— which prospers. And yet, you, yourself, have no legs to stand upon. For the state you have done nothing but attempt to destroy it, Golden King".

"Oh my... attempted coup... has been proven time and time again. Almost as many times as yours, Sulin'thill's - may he rest peacefully - and the Elibar'acals in Laethis' reign. I'm simply asking about the murders. As I mentioned, I'm quite grateful to Luther for putting forward my pardon. It was kind of him, but we need all of the Elves we can find these days... the city's productivity is dying - grinding to a halt due to a severe lack of active residents." He took the paper, unfurling it. "Good to know you carry these with you, otherwise some might doubt your summer home was properly organized."

 

"I'd also like the evidence of my destruction of the state. If I recall - Crumena's goal was to destroy the presence of Dark Arts, which had embedded itself in the city... the same as yours, interestingly enough, albeit without starting a Holy War on the sovereign lands of the Mali'aheral." He dragged his finger along it for a brief moment, before simply rolling his eyes and turning it about. "As much as I'd love to stand here and read government missives, I fear we're boring the audience." He said, gesturing to Silvos. "Considering the theatricality you've employed thus far in your speeches - I'd wager neither of us would want that; lest they find one of us is unqualified or... god forbid... insensible. So do read the passage aloud to me about your being able to hold two government positions. As I do not believe it has been done before."

 

He then shrugged again, smiling softly with a hum. "Unless you're finally going to answer my question on whether you intend to step down from your governing position of Fi'ceru to properly govern my - your - people... I'd also like to bring up that you've put out a missive claiming that Dark Arts has taken root in your island retreat, to which your response was to bring in armored paladins and allow them free reign to battle in your streets, and yet you're calling it a safe, prosperous home away from home for the Mali'aheral. Not to mention the constant raids, the amount of non-compliant citizens and the vigilante guard.

As the pair bicker for all to see, an Elf in the crowd gives alight yawn before standing up. Delonna raises his voice, to start before the next jab is thrown. 

 

"I believe I have a solution to most of the issues being highlighted. Seems to me that Kelthran wishes a try at politics, and Taeleh wishes to keep that from happening. So here's a compromise. I nominate myself."

 

He takes a brief moment to glance around the room before continuing.

 

"I see many new faces around me, so first an introduction of myself and my plans is in order. I am Delonna Aeléyèlsa, builder of Lin'evaral, founder of Annil'sul and the longest serving government member in our nation's known history. I've worked in every city bar this one, all the way back to the glorious Silver City of Haelun'or. I've even filled this particular job before, having served Haelun'or as its ambassador during the reformed Crimson-Silver alliance, and as Maheral - I successfully negotiated for the return of Annil'sul from its captors."

 

He then directs his gaze more specifically to Taeleh and Kelthran.

 

"My assuming the position will satisfy both parties, even if they don't realise it yet. It is my intent to create a few ambassador positions, to make a more active diplomacy possible. Should Kelthran be interested in diplomacy and not just causing trouble as Taeleh suggests, he's more than welcome to speak with me about one of these positions. A suitable starting spot for one to prove themself in."
