dandan1350 479 Share Posted December 6, 2015 (edited) A cheer trailed by sorrow, as the chalices’ contents soaked the stone beneath the elder man fell. Cries escaped from the surrounding men of Savoy as Brann fell to the cold floor beneath him. Specks of blood splattering out past his lips as he threw out a coughing fit. His eyes closed and darkness consumed him for brief moments. Queries and questions flew at the attending physician as Jurgen worked his practice, people spouting out their own conclusions of what had happened. A few more moments passed and the echoing sounds of worried men came to his ears, eyes opening briefly. “Brann!?”“Poison!”“He’s choking!”“Age..” The knights word stung but they were true, his face failing to hide the sadness that began to consume it. A cold statement but truthful enough Roke spoke out as he went to lift the elder knight, Jurgen and Veryn moving to assist with his plated form. His head was hung and silence consumed the elder as he was hefted away to a room for rest. From there on it only got worse. A fever began to consume him, his body sweating profusely as the night sweats never stopped leaving his slumber constantly disturbed. His body ached and became unstable, fits and seizures coming in waves alongside the spluttering coughing fits that brought up the blood of the elder. Pain was everywhere, never ending, never a moment of peace was allowed to him. For a week he was confined to his bed till one day the weak man could barely speak and move his ill frame. He managed it, barely… His final request, to speak his final words to his friends and family. His godson, Visant, his liege Gereon. But before they could arrive his state only declined further and alongside them the physician was brought in... Blood pooled and soaked into the sheets beneath the elder man as the physician finished the complex surgery upon the man. The elders face contorted in pain, body soaked by sweats but there was only silence about the room. Pride gripped the knight as he refused to let escape him any show of weakness and the viewers surrounding him only watched in hope of the physician's skill as he cut away the inflamed nodes around the man's’ neck. His toes curled and knuckles grew white, whiter than that was his complexion from the mix of blood loss he had suffered at the horrible illness that had stricken him he looked ghastly pale, death nearing round the corner. He could manage no warm smile to cross his lips, bring no cheer to any of the solemn men in the room. Only time could tell what would become of the knight. He slept a further few days. “Please.. Be the executioner..” He joked within the depths of his own mind to himself as the heavy fall of armor clad men rang up the stairs leading to the elders chambers. Peaking open an eye briefly to see who had entered he barely managed a smile upon his lips as he saw the two knights enter. Denis and Caspar stood silently for a moment as they viewed the drained and struggling elders form. “So, it is true..” Caspar first broke the silence as he made his way to the man's bedside and fell to a knee. Brief and short pleasantries were exchanged between the trio as more began to arrive to see the knights progress on the road of recovery. A long road ahead. Eventually the cheer and jokes began to die down as the elder finally croaked out. “I’d like to go away.. Are we allowed holidays..?” His tone low and voice weak. “Of course..” Replied Caspar. “I’d like to go to the Caliphate..”“Have you ever been there?”“Once, escorting lady Camile.. It was so beautiful..”“It’s lovely this time of year.” The court mage piped in in hopes to raise spirits higher.“We’ll go together friend, oui?”“Oui, mon ami..” Slowly the elder's eyes began to draw close, the solemn silence took over once again as the knight fell still among them all and the slightest hint of worry crept round the room as suspense rose.“I’m not dead yet you fools..” He croaked out, shaking his head. “I just.. Need to sleep..” He mumbled out as he drifted off once more and the gathering began to fall out the door one by one. He fell into slumber once more as he fell into battle with the illness that consumed all eventually. ((Big thanks to cooldude for his rocking physician RP, apologies I know it's short and crap, I've never exactly been an amazing writer.))
