Casimir Tide

Born of snow and steel, the Tides lived in the mountains in utter seclusion.  They were few, haggard by any measure, and the ice ran thick in their blood.  The winters upon the mountain killed any joy that struggled to survive in that desolate place; and in one such winter came their desolation.

The old patriarch of Tide fell ill, slept, and never woke.  Upon his brow he wore a crown of carved pine, passed from patriarch to patriarch as their family dwindled.  Upon his death, his eldest son was in Felsen trading furs for goods to bring home.  Casimir was his name, thirteen years of age and growing stronger by the day.  He returned home to his family to find his brothers and mother around his father's grave in the snow.  At his feet they placed the pine crown, and called him Patriarch of Tide.

He never wanted the shabby crown, and never wanted to stay in those damned mountains to scratch out a meager living as his blood ran cold.  Casimir sent his family to Kvaz, to live amongst the subjects of the Sarkozics; and left with his brother to serve in the army of Oren.

For ten years they served one master or another, hacking out a life for themselves by the steel of their blades.  They fought for sellsword companies, for sailor merchants in fear of pirates, and for noble families as a household guard.

After leaving a cruel master who demanded of Casimir to slay a child in swaddling clothes, Casimir and Alexei returned to Felsen to find a new patron and a more stable life in Felsen.  There they found themselves under the banner of the Vallberg brothers and swore their swords to their defense.

((Thank you for reading, even if my bio-writing skills are more than a bit shabby.))
